Url encode
Can someone tell me how to encode a string to a url in Rails.
I''ve got basic code as below, but it only adds dashes in place of spaces
and doesn''t escape html.
@page.url = @page.name.to_s.gsub(/[ ]/, ''-'')

link_to should have its body and url arguments reversed
I think the link_to helper method is quite confusing with its arguments
order:
link_to body, url
link_to "Click me", @person
Why is it thay way round? I want to make a "link to [the] person", so I
would expect the order to be:
link_to @person, "Click me"
It reads much more natural. You don''t "link to [the] body", you "link to

URL based on acts_as_tree using routes
Hi There!
I''d like some feedback before I try to implement some funky rails
routes based on an acts_as_tree model.
I have a Page model that acts_as_tree. I''d like the URLs to look
something like this:
http://localhost/about-us/staff/jeff
or, another example...
http://localhost/what-we-do/products/our-great-cms/features/faqs/
So, as many sub-nodes the user creates,

decode URL
Hi,
I have a URL with encoded characters, I want them to be decoded.
Is this possible in the routes.rb?
e.g. decoding the @params[category]
map.connect ''performances/:category'', :controller => ''performance'',
:action => ''list_performances''

Decoding Unicode URLs Properly
Please help,
I have an application I switched over to UTF-8, but I am unable to
decode URLs with unicode characters in them properly. For instance, if
I have "item=Pur%E9ed" as a parameter in my url, when it''s decoded by
rails, it returns "Pur?ed" and not "Pur?ed".
Is there an easy way to fix my controller to accept these characters
properly?

Is there a link_to ''external url''?
I''ve checked the Rails documentation but find no mention of link_to
''external url'' or equivalent. Does rails have a built in method to do
this?
thanks

url parameter :id with slash (/) failed to route
Hi there,
My routes.rb is something like
map.connect '':controller/:action/:id''
However, when a url request likes
http://xxx/user/category/a/b
My intension is to call
:controller => ''user''
:action => ''category''
:id => ''a/b''
However, :id has slash in it (a/b) will make rails fail to route.

link_to, how do you combine url options and html_options?
I have a link-to that I wish to look somewhat like this:
link_to "link here", new_object_path,
:method => :post, :confirm => ''Press OK'', #url
options
:class => "css_class", :id => "css_id" #html
options
In any case I can either get the url_for options to work or the html
options to work, but

problem with file_column url generator
Hi,
I have the following in a viewer
Here, @lst = Homework.find(:all) is an array of homeworks. I checked
this this is correct.
Based on the error below, somehow, the url_for_file_colum does not
like to act on the model element.
I checked the source code to url_for_file_column, and the problem is
with instance_variable_get().
I have no idea wat is going on! Any help is appreciated. Gordon.

link_to an external url ?
Simple question. Is it possible to generate a link like
<a href="http://www.google.com" target="_blank" >google</a>
with the link_to function ?

absolute urls in url_for vs. link_to
In both url_for and link_to, the :only_path param can be used to
determine whether the link url used is complete with hostname and path,
or just has the path (a kind of relative url).
However, in url_for it defaults to false (urls with hostnames), and in
link_to it defaults to true ( urls without hostnames, just paths).
Is there any reason for this discrepency? To me, it violates the
principle

Passing Multiple Values In URL
Been a while since I programmed in Ruby and Rails and some of the
basic concepts I just loose so quickly. This one I can''t find any
examples of.
I want to pass two pieces of information in my URL. The :id plus I
want to pass my user_id. How do I pass it using the link_to?
Stupid question I know... but I can''t find the answer.

[A bug?] Failed to use BuildMI to add R7 - R12 registers for tADDi8 and tPUSH of ARM
Hi Craig,
Thanks for the information. Can you point to the source that specifies tGPR to be R0 - R7?
I tried to search in ARMInstrThumb.td but couldn’t find it.
Thanks,

Recursive flag needs fixing 2.4.7pre1
Martin,
Just a minor fix.
Jie,
Try the -r option (or the --recurse) option instead.
It looks like the source changed to this:
options.c: {"recurse", 'r', POPT_ARG_NONE, &recurse},
But the help is still at:
options.c: rprintf(F," -r, --recursive recurse into
directories\n");

How to DRY REST admin path in URLs?
Hi everyone...
For almost all of my objects I put a series of classic REST admin links
in views. For example, for a ''user'', I have
<%= link_to "Show", user_path(user) %>
<%= link_to "Edit", edit_user_path(user) %>
<%= link_to "Destroy", user_path(user), :confirm => "Are you sure",
:method => :delete %>
I am tired

URL question
Well, this is more of an apache question, but...
I''m running a nice little ''cluster'' of camping apps and I''ve recently
started proxying them through apache with mod_proxy, since I found I
was forwarding a lot of ports via ssh otherwise. But anyway, enough of
that.
One of the apps I use to view logs from IRC (with formatting and
highlighting!). But

[A bug?] Failed to use BuildMI to add R7 - R12 registers for tADDi8 and tPUSH of ARM
Sorry for not being specific enough. ARMv7-M includes Thumb and Thumb2.
It has 12 regular registers (R0 - R12), and R8 - R12 are used.
I can generate mov instruction that from/ R8-R12 to/from R0-R6.
From this ARM page http://infocenter.arm.com/help/index.jsp?topic=/com.arm.doc.dui0068b/ch03s03s01.html
R9 - R12 have their conventional usage, but I don’t if this is the reason we cannot
use them
