How to use formulas for multivariate clustered data?
Dear R experts, I wrote already a couple of weeks ago but did not get any reply. Therefore I'll rephrase my question and hope some of you can give me some answers or some advice where better to look for an answer. In general I'm looking for information on how to program functions using formulas in order to write a nonparametric multivariate regression function with possible

Programming using formulas
Dear R experts, I'm planning to write some kind of multivariate regression function where I would like to use a formula method. My question is if there is anywhere some detailed introduction how to program formulas in R? A bit more about what I need: I would like to start implementing a multivariate hierarchical regression model and to keep it simple in the beginning I would restrict

different results on linux and windows
Dear R experts, we are preparing an R-package to compute the Oja Median which contains some C++ code in which random numbers are needed. To generate the random numbers we use the following Mersenne-Twister implementation: // MersenneTwister.h // Mersenne Twister random number generator -- a C++ class MTRand // Based on code by Makoto Matsumoto, Takuji Nishimura, and Shawn Cokus // Richard J.

suggestion for example for base:naresid
Dear list: since it took me a little while to figure out how to make use of naresid, I thought that the below R code might be useful as an example on the help page. Regards, Markus # generate some data x1 <- runif(20) y <- 10 + 5*x1 + rnorm(20) summary(lm.0 <- lm(y ~ x1)) # append some NA's to y y <- c(y, rep(NA, 5)) # generate some further x1s x1 <- c(x1, runif(5)) #

using a "third party" DLL in my package
Hello all, it seems my efforts in reading the manuals and help files aren't enough so here I am. The question is, how would I go about linking a pre-compiled DLL in to my package? I have previously successfully built packages with Fortran and C source code, but now I'd like to take this ready made DLL and call its routines from R. My collegue was brave enough to simply try and put

Test Normality
Good Night I made different test to check normality and multinormality in my dataset, but I donĀ“t know which test is better. To verify univariate normality I checked: shapiro.test, cvm.test, ad.test, lillie.test, sf.test or jaque.bera.test and To verify multivariate normal distribution I use mardia, mvShapiro.Test, mvsf, mshapiro.test, mvnorm.e. I have a dataset with almost 1000 data and 9

Writing calendar files to .ics with more than one event.
Hi, I have a huge (2.2 MB) .ics file that I am trying to import into Google Calendar. Google suggests file sizes no greater than 1 MB. Unfortunately, it fails when I try to upload it in it''s entirety or when I try to manually split it up into smaller chunks (6-800k). I have now looked into the iCalendar gem as a way to split up the .ics file into calendars by year (there are about 8000

bctrans: Box-Cox Transformation Problem
Hello, I'm currently trying to model the movement of a slope (v.obs) with a regression model. The data can be found following the given links: either http://www.sendspace.com/file/dnugwc or http://rapidshare.com/files/420569660/sel.day.txt I want to use the Box-Cox transformation to normalize the response as well as the predictor variables. The scatterplot looks like this: library(zoo)

Cluster analysis, defining center seeds or number of clusters
I use kmeans to classify spectral events in high and low 1/3 octave bands: #Do cluster analysis CyclA<-data.frame(LlowA,LhghA) CntrA<-matrix(c(0.9,0.8,0.8,0.75,0.65,0.65), nrow = 3, ncol=2, byrow=TRUE) ClstA<-kmeans(CyclA,centers=CntrA,nstart=50,algorithm="MacQueen") This works well when the actual data shows 1,2 or 3 groups that are not "too close" in a cross plot.
