Writing a new link for a GLM.
Hi,
I wish to write a new link function for a GLM. R's glm routine does
not supply the "loglog" link. I modified the make.link function adding
the code:
}, loglog = {
linkfun <- function(mu) -log(-log(mu))
linkinv <- function(eta) exp(-exp(-eta))
mu.eta <- function(eta) exp(-exp(-eta)-eta)
valideta <- function(eta) all(eta != 0)

Upload HardyWeinberg package (1.1)
Hi all,
I've uploaded to CRAN a new version of the HardyWeinberg package. This
package has routines for performing graphical significance tests (based
on the ternary plot) for Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium of bi-allelic marker
data.

How does biplot.princomp scale its axes?
I'm attempting to modify how biplot draws its red vectors (among other
things). This is how I've started:
Biplot <- function(xx, comps = c(1, 2), cex = c(.6, .4))
{
## Purpose: Makes a biplot with princomp() object to not show arrows
## ----------------------------------------------------------------------
## Arguments: xx is an object made using princomp()

Environment set on PAM module is not visible to user
We're using an internal PAM module (Linux) that sets a few environment
variables using pam_putenv (on pam_sm_authenticate). In version 3.6.1p1i
such variables are visible to the user (as expected), but since 3.7p1
they are not...
Is this the expected behaviour?
Thanks in advance,
Jose

Canceling jobs
Hello, I'm having some troubles with the lpq command, and I hope
some one help me:
We have samba 1.9.16p11 working in an HP-UX B.10.20 machine; printing
works fine, but there is one problem with jobs: we're not able to cancel them.
The lpq command definition it's shown below:
lpq command = /usr/bin/lpstat %p
But if any one submits a job to any printer and, after that, tryies

Remote port forwarding
I have the following line in the sshd_config file:
GatewayPorts no
If I launch the ssh client as this:
ssh -l user host -R 9000:otherHost:25
the port forwarding is successful! :-( As you can see, the
'netstat -na' command shows the Secure Shell daemon listening
to the port 9000.

reproducing scaling used in biplot(pc.biplot=TRUE)
Hello,
I'd like to reproduce the standard biplot with pc.biplot=TRUE using
xyplot in lattice in order to assign different symbols to groupings
of observations (similar to the example in fig. 11.2 on page 285 in
DAAG). In order to reproduce the biplots I need to know how to scale
the observations and variables. In ?biplot.princomp I found that the
variables are scaled by 'lambda ^

producing biplot of canonical correlation analysis
Dear List,
I would like to obtain biplot containing arrows and variable labels.
However, after checking the previous message and package CCA and function
anacor,
my attempt remains an open question.
Please kindly advise code or package I might miss to achieve it.
Thank you.

All [homes] shares
This question has relation with the one about seeing
the other [homes] shares:
How can I publish ALL the homes accounts?
What I would like is to connect to the server with my password
and to be able to brownse all the accounts where I have
read access.
Is there an easy way to do that automaticaly?

File name in the print command
Hi,
I just want to ask you if someone have had this problem,
if this is a bug, a "feature" or the expected behavior.
We use Samba 1.9.18p10 on slackware linux as a print server.
This print server is dedicated to students so we print a
banner with every print job in order to be able to distinguish
the beginning and ending of a students job.
The problem appears when we

color-coding of biplot points for varimax rotated factors (from PCA)
I'm using R for PCA and? factor analysis. I want to create biplots of
varimax rotated factors that color-code points by their
classification. My research is on streams that are urban and rural.
So, I want to color code them by this classification. If you just do a
biplot from prcomp or princomp, you cannot add this color. So, I have
used some code developed by a graduate student in our

Multiple usernames and strange log
Hi guys,
I would like you to help me with two problems we have
here with samba.
It works fine on almost all the situations but we're
unable to connect from a win95 machine with two identities
simultaneously.
The situation is that: john and eric have their own account
in the server (Unix running samba). They share another
account (say netmen). They need access to

biplot breakdown help
Hi,
I am trying to understand how the biplot.prcomp is constructed so I can
manipulate it to emphasise particular observations and reduce the number of
variables shown.
The prcomp model I have ran has cor=TRUE and scale=TRUE
I have worked out from looking at str(prcomp.model) that...
prcomp.model$x = the observations ploted in the biplot
prcomp.model$rotation = the variables that form the

Very HUGE binaries!?
Hi!
I've been compiling Samba 3.0.x on a Solaris 2.6 server using GCC
3.4.1 without any problem until recently... The problem started with 3.0.12
version, and reproduced in 3.0.13. Doing "configure" and then "make"
produces with these two versions VERY HUGE binaries! I'm talking about more
than 50 Megabytes binaries in some cases... With 3.0.11 and before I had

Netlogon problems
Hi,
We use Samba 1.9.18p10 on a Digital Unix alpha workstation
as file server for our users. In rush hour there are 80-100
clients connected to the server. It works fine almost all
the time but sometimes we have problems with the login
from Windows 95.
When the problem appears the user enters username, password
and domain and it displays the message

PC biplot display
Hello,
I am creating biplots based on the prcomp principal components
analysis command. I would like to display only the principal component
vectors and the variables, not the data. Can anyone suggest how to do
this?
Thanks,

biplot package II
Dear all,
I've been learning biplot (Gabriel, 1971) and some days ago I sent for
this list a procedural function with invitation for a collaborative package.
Jari Oksanen made some suggestions and I agree with all.
So, I reworked the function under the object-oriented programming
(OOP/S3). I think it is now a good frame for more resources.
Below it is the function and a small script to
