R-beta: CRAN goes HTML
Hi all, thanks help by Thomas Lumley (who provided us also with a beautiful logo!) I've finally made a start for an html frontend for CRAN. It should be available on all mirror sites tomorrow. The master site is at http://www.ci.tuwien.ac.at/R and the usual mirror sites are http://www.stat.unipg.it/pub/stat/statlib/R/CRAN/ (IASC archive, Italy) ftp://ftp.u-aizu.ac.jp/pub/lang/R/CRAN/

R-beta: exchanging data between R/Splus and SPSS
Hi, is there any way to exchange (A LOT OF) data between SPPS and R/Splus, i.e., I want to get data from SPSS into R. It is a huge data frame with many columns being factors, so manual conversion is out of question (and there are more data to come). Exporting ASCII from SPSS seems to loose all level names, and the portable SPSS format doesn't look too nice. I've searched S-news and

R-beta: Fig driver for "R"?
Hello all R users and developers! In the "Notes on R" I have found the following information: (page 60, 13-th footnote) "... a better solution is to use the fig() driver (available from statlib) and use a conversion program, such as fig2dev, to convert the resultant fig code to Encapsulated Podtscript." I was very glad to read it, because I'm often forced to use

R-beta: R on Windows 3.1
My attempt to get R running in Windows 3.11 didn't go very far. I have read the FAQ and install.tex carefully. What am I missing? Here is the step: 1. From statlib I got rexe.zip (and rbeta.zip, but this one seems for windows 95 only?). 2. On unzipping I got 8 files, including rb1.exe, and a sub- dir win32s, which I copied to windows/system. (There is no setup.exe,

R-beta: Problems porting nlme to R
I have been trying to port the extension 'nlme' ("Classes and methods to fit and display linear and nonlinear mixed effects models.")to R found on the Statlib S site. I am having some difficulty. The c code requires at least S.h and nonlin.h. R has S.h but not nonlin.h. I'm only a recent convert to R, and have not used S nor SPlus. Any help is greatly

R-beta: port of bicreg package to R?
R version: 0.62.1 (June 15, 1998) I just very naively attempted to grab the 'bicreg' package for Bayesian model selection from the StatLib library, and get it running under R. I've hit a brick wall very quickly, and as an R novice I'm not sure where to go next. Here's what happened: > bicreg(as.matrix(hiv[,c(-17,-18)]),as.matrix(hiv[,18])) Error: invalid formula >

(4.2p1) Missing -R<path_to_libedit>/lib
Hi, I tried building the version 4.2p1 on the FreeBSD box. Even if I executed the configure script with --with-rpath and --with-libedit=/path/to/libedit the -R options for libedit are NOT added in linking although that for zlib and OpenSSL are correctly done. This problem can be easily avoided by editing openssh-4.2p1/Makefile after executing the configure script. This means that you

R-beta: Design of experiments in R?
Hello R-helpers, I was wondering if anyone is porting S lib packages for design of experiments: conf.design, glim, graff(all from statlib)? I was able to change the format of S packages into R (including docs). In conf.design, by W. Venables, sort.list function is missing from R. I just put sort.list <- sort, but I got more error messages. Before doing more work, would like to know if this
