Quicktime Vs Windows encoding with VP3
I found out about vp3 from the new winamp and coincidentally i also happen to be trying to find a suitable solution to broadband streaming. I have used flaskmpeg to create a 17mb .avi file from an 82mb Mpeg 1 file and it looks great it took about twenty minutes to encode. It runs for eight minutes and the audio is also fantastic using the lame encoder. However when I try to do the same in

Quicktime 2 Theora Transcoder's Nano-Howto
After a bunch of cumbersome testing I was able to transcode a Quicktime MOV file to OGG with theora and Vorbis. The method's a bit fumbly, but it works... It is automatable except for the initial audio decoding. Software used: Xine, oggenc, ffmpeg, ffmpeg2theora, oggzmerge Step 1: Get the video out of Quicktime ffmpeg -i infile.mov -b 5000 -f mpeg2video outfile.mpg Step 2: Get the video

ffmpeg2theora 0.25 synchronization issues when converting from .mov
Has anyone noticed this? I have a video made with Final Cut Pro, which I convert to .mov via Compressor. This .mov file plays back fine in Quicktime. But when I then use ffmpeg2theora to convert to ogv, the video seems to play back too fast compared to the audio (I'm using VLC 1.0.2, the latest I believe, to play back the ogv file, and I also have an app that uses the recently

dealing with media file formats and RMagick.
Hello, I basically have the following problem - I have a site that will allow people to upload videos. The video may be in any format - .mov, .avi, .wmv etc.. I can either use embedded Windows Media Player, or embedded Quicktime to play the files but the problem is, how do I create stills from the movies to display them as .jpg''s on my site so when somebody clicks on them, the video

A/V sync in Theora
Hi, I've been thinking about how a Theora encoder could be integrated into mencoder or transcode and I'm not sure whether I understand the A/V sync strategy of Theora/Vorbis correctly. When transcoding from some video format (ie MPEG2 or DivX), at least some images of the video stream will have time stamps, as well as the fragments of the audio stream. Or at least time stamps can be

QuickTime for Linux and vorbisfile
I recently began working on an application which will combine Ogg Vorbis with QuickTime on the Linux platform. I am using Ogg Vorbis 1.0rc1 and Adam Williams' QuickTime for Linux 1.3 library (http://www.heroinewarrior.com/quicktime.php3). I am having a strange problem. As soon as I #include <quicktime/quicktime.h>, the code causes a segmentation fault when run. When I look at it with

XiphQT with Thusnelda for QuickTime X
Any progress in this issue? Or is the whole XiphQT project dead? Any 64bit package of XiphQT for MacOSX Snow Leopard on its way? Any solution on its way, which works with Quicktime X on Snow Leopard and which doesn't urge/force you to install and use the old Quicktime 7 player? Any solution on its way, solving the /Library/Components problem on MacOSX Snow Leopard/Quicktime X? See: [theora]

Quicktime + FLAC?
I bought myself a PowerBook and hoped to play my FLAC-encoded library via iTunes. Alas -- it doesn't work. My understanding is that iTunes uses QuickTime for playback; does anyone know where to find a FLAC codec for QuickTime? I noticed that there was some discussion about this ~1 year ago on flac-dev. Did any dev projects get underway, or should I roll up my sleeves and give it a go? -Dave

A Macromedia Shockwave Flash-based Ogg player?
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 I'm looking for an Ogg/Vorbis player in Macromedia Flash, for embedding into webpages. I discovered a Java-based player but it's a non-starter. Wine and iTunes6: Gets quicktime version wrong?
Hi all, I've been trying to install iTunes with wine. I've followed Frank's instructions...got them installed, but, when I run iTunes, it complains that quicktime version required is 7.0.3 or later, and that I somehow have 7.0.d0.... I've seen others out there having same problem, but, no resolutions. Any suggestions or links? I've tried on wine 0.9.10 and now emerging

Ogg Vorbis QuickTime Component
Hi all, I don't know if this is the place to ask about this, but I'm going to try anyway. There is an ogg-vorbis plugin for iTunes on Mac OS X that is downloadable from http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/14259 or http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/mac/13012&mode=feedback Unfortunately, this plug-in (a Quicktime component) crashes iTunes for the latest version of

Quicktime, Ogg, Vorbis
What does Steve Nicolai's Quicktime component do? Does it create - an Ogg stream with Vorbis audio data inside it ? - a Quicktime stream with an Ogg track with Vorbis audio inside ? - a Quicktime stream with an audio track encoded with the Vorbis codec ? (I wish it could do all the three options above) Best regards, Elifarley C. Coelho http://www.geocities.com/elifarley/ --- >8 ----

Quicktime Component
Good news all! I now have a functional version of the Quicktime Component of the Ogg Vorbis decompressor. In English: this extension will allow all Quicktime apps to play .oggs (including iTunes). I plan on posting it ASAP. I have a few problems with memory that I'd like to get cleared up first. I plan on carbonizing it as soon as it functions in classic. I'll also do a Winders version.

Quicktime + FLAC?
If i could find some good documentation on quicktime, i'd probably give it a shot... since i already have most of the infrastructure already for directshow. I had a look a few times for detailed info on quicktime, and it all looked pretty painful. Not to mention all the base media handler code provided for the sdk, says not suitable for bitrates greater than like 32kpbs which is useless
