Replacing ActiveRecordStore::Session with a custom model
Has anyone managed to replace ActiveRecordStore::Session with their own model? In the source (http://dev.rubyonrails.org/browser/trunk/actionpack/lib/ action_controller/session/active_record_store.rb) it says you can override the default by setting CGI::Session::ActiveRecordStore.session_class = MySessionClass I have tried doing this in a number of ways but I get all kinds of weird errors, as

memcache, sessions, fragments, oh my!
Hi all - I am trying to get rails to use memcache for sessions and fragment caching. I''d also like to use the same connection for general caching of this and that. I''m following the instructions here: http://wiki.rubyonrails.com/rails/pages/HowtoChangeSessionStore and hitting a brick wall. I''m using the new memcache-client since from what I''ve read

Switching to active_record_store session management errors out
Hello, Running Ruby 1.8.6 and Rails 2.2.2 against an Oracle XE database (sigh). I just upgraded Rails from 1.2.3 to 2.2.2, which made my cookie based system for storing session information to error out due to the 4Kb limit. So, I tried to turn on the active_record_store system by un- commenting out the "config.action_controller.session_store = :active_record_store" line in

Problems with ./scripts/generate scaffold
Hi all, I''m new to rails after having used perl for most of these things, and am trying to get my head around the generate script for a project playing around with. If I do: ./scripts/generate controller Device I get app/controllers/device_controller.rb where I can then add: scaffold :device However, if I want to actually generate the scaffolding so I can make some changes:

"Rails recipes" vs "Rails cookbook"
Reviews Wanted. I''ve read the tables of contents and haven''t yet made up my mind. Is one book clearly better than the other? Is one clearly full of bugs? Is one so much further ahead that there is no choice? Are they both so incomplete that I should just wait and only cook real food? Do trains still have dining cars? script/console
The agile book says "You can inspect variables, set values, add other breakpoints, and generally have a good time". This is very sweet and totally useless. For example, I want to see the session variable, the cookies variable and so on. These names are unknown. I think I guess that the things that are available depend on where you put the breakpoint() call. I''ve tried a

ActiveRecord + memcache = cached_model
Courtesy of The Robot Co-op. $ yes | sudo gem install cached_model Or, you can download cached_model and memcache-client (our zippy-fast memcache library, required) from: http://rubyforge.org/frs/?group_id=1266 I don''t have the README posted for making cached_model work online yet, so here it is: = CachedModel Rubyforge Project: http://rubyforge.org/projects/rctools/ == About

Domain Registration -- Private ?

Wysiwyg HTML Editors and Rails ?
What wysiwyg html/CSS editors do people recommend. I''m mainly interested in FOSS programs that I can run on WinXP. Sometimes you just have to create some mostly-static pages and make them look nice. I see that Guy Kawasaki is using Nvu, which is based on Mozilla composer. Any of you guys have any experience with that? Warren Fred -------------- next part -------------- An HTML

ActiveRecord Sessions
I am considering using merb to process file uploads. For the most part I''m going to keep it lean and mean. I would however like to access my active_record_session from my Rails app. Is this built into merb yet? Or is it OK to just add require ''action_controller/session/ active_record_store'' to merb_init.rb and then create my own session object
