Sessions
In the Agile WD book it states regarding sesion data- "Rails uses the
cookie-based approach".
This can''t be entirely true can it ? Not that I''m complaining if it was but
isn''t there some equivalent to say, PHP sessions ? Or am I wrong.

Request to Replace Recordplot ,, replayplot
Record plot which stores a plot to an internal R data structure and Replay
Plot which
replays the plot enables one to keep plots around and use them accross
sessions at least until version 3. If you cannot restore old plots and
treat them as data and save accross sessions, there is little reason for
recordPlot. Either R needs to dispense with internal formats entirelly, a
bad move in my opinion

Shorewall FAQ Wiki Online, nearly complete...
Hello,
Mike Noyes and myself have populated http://wiki.rettc.com with the
shorewall FAQ.
This wiki is running MediaWiki, http://www.mediawiki.org.
Currently, a couple items are not complete.
I have just begun a heavy semester of mathematics/physics studies, and
do not have much time to give to this.
But, it is online, and seems to be stable. I will keep an eye out for
abuse, and limit

Is there a test for setting the session ID to the fb_sig_session_key param?
Hey all,
I have a patch that fixes a problem I am having with IFramed pages in
rails 2.0. I am relying on the session being retrieved via
fb_sig_session_key. I am looking for the test code that tests this
functionality but I can''t seem to find it.
So you on the list today Chad, gotta pointer for me?
Thanks, I want to get a test in for this fix,

Maintaining same session for a user across different PCs
Hi,
I''m trying to make a simple shopping cart, where I want to maintain
state when a use logs in from different location. Consider the
following :
1. ''foo'' logs in from home pc and add ''bar'' item to the cart.
2. ''foo'' goes to office and logs in from office PC.
3. Now I want only one session for ''foo'', so that when

Session Best Practices
Hi All- I am still trying to figure out the best way to handle facebook session for my users. Here is my current flow:
in my "external accounts controller"
1) before_filter :ensure_authenticated_to_facebook, :only => [:authenticate_facebook, :edit_facebook]
2) when the user links into facebook, facebooker authenticates and redirects back to my application
3) i detect the

Refactor ovirt-node-image code base for inclusion in Fedora
Main reason for refactor is no ovirt-node-image binary image allowed in fedora.
Removed ks files, now in ovirt-node-recipe, which is subpackage of ovirt-node.
Removed tools, these are now in ovirt-node-recipe which is subpackage of
ovirt-node.

script/server lighttpd on Windows
Has anyone been able to get script/server to successfully use lighttpd
on a Windows box? When I try to start the server I get:
PROBLEM: Lighttpd is not available on your system (or not in your path)
So then I add "C:\lighttpd\sbin" to the path for the console session,
and it still fails with the same error.
If anyone has some success with this I sure would like to know. Webrick

Session Expired for Profile Publishing
Ok. I''m not having any success with publishing profile FBML.
Example code:
class WelcomeController < ApplicationController
layout "facebook"
ensure_application_is_installed_by_facebook_user
def index
@user = facebook_session.user
...
@user.profile_fbml = render_to_string( :template => ''welcome/profile'' )

openssh-2.9.9p2 session.c fails on Solaris 7,8 w/ SunPro C
FYI--
session.c fails from openSSH 2.9.9p2 with SunPro C compiler on Solaris 7,
8. The function do_pre_login had to be moved to before its use in
do_exec_pty (a predeclaration would work).
It does appear to work correctly, given the above fix. Still having the
largefile problem (argh), so if anyone can help with /that/ ...

Facebooker::Session::SessionExpired (Session key invalid or no longer valid)
Hi All,
I''m having horrible problems with this exception, which seems to happen as
soon as I access the session object. Does anyone know what the path is to
recover from this? This post looked to be the most promising:
http://rubyforge.org/pipermail/facebooker-talk/2007-December/000047.html
And I followed all of the steps except switching my session store, and
modifying the default

Running rake test:units yields DEPRECIATION WARNING: Disabling sessions for a single controller...
When I run my rake test:units I get the following:
DEPRECATION WARNING: Disabling sessions for a single controller has

them, consider them off. You can still modify the session cookie

oVirt Appliance / Single Machine Install
The following two patches fixes / reimplements the oVirt appliance
project, installing the entire oVirt stack including all server
and node components on one machine.
These patches are intended to be checked out and used to build
the appliance rpm, after which it is installed provides the
/usr/sbin/ovirt-appliance-ctrl script to install/uninstall the
appliance.
The first patch merely removes

Yet another dry question..
One of these days I''ll figure this out, but in the meantime help me be a
better programmer by eliminating some excess code:
I''m trying to check to see if somebody trying to view/edit/update a
product is the owner. In my scaffold I have this code that works:
def edit
@owner = Product.find(params[:id].to_i)
if @owner.user_id == @user.id

graceful session expiry?
According to the Rails book, the session object has an attribute called
:session_expires, but they don''t encourage its use. Currently I handle
session expiry by using a cron job to delete session files that have not
been modified in the last X minutes (it is a design/security requirement
for this project that sessions expire after a finite period of
inactivity).
However, this is a

Unicorn: UNIX+localhost/LAN-only Mongrel fork
Hello all,
Last week, I finally decided to put into motion some ideas I''ve been
kicking around for a year in my head since last year...
Basically I don''t want to have to deal with threads or support platforms
that rely on or encourage threads. Especially given MRI 1.9 where
kernel threads are more difficult to debug than green ones.
Given the limited scope of this project,

Several ''app'' directories ?
Hello, I''m new to ROR and my first wonder is to understand how to
organize my application "per module"...
Imagine I want to build a web site including :
- the web site by itself
- a forum
- a wiki
- a shop
I would like to avoid putting all the controllers, views and models in
the same app directories, polluting the subdirs with prefixed files like
wiki_*, shop_*, forum_* -
