Hi,
I am a Xen newbie and have been trying to get Xen-3.4.1 working on my Ubuntu
Lucid (kernel version 2.6.32-21) system, using kernel 2.6.18.8 as dom0. In
attempting this, I ran into the following issue. On booting into Xen, I get
these errors:
Mounting none on /dev failed. No such device.

Gave up waiting for root device.

[XCP] new version available
[previously posted to xen-devel@ and xen-api@ but this might be of interest to xen-users@ too]
Hi,
I''ve refreshed the Xen Cloud Platform (XCP) .isos on xen.org with a new
development snapshot (labelled version 0.1.1). XCP is a collaborative
effort to build a complete cloud infrastructure platform, complete with
a powerful management stack, standards-based APIs, support for

Fedora 11 DomU
When I try to virt-install a PV instance of F11, I''m getting an ''invalid
kernel'' message, as if it''s not a Xen kernel. I have tried both the
i386 and x86_64 versions.
Is there any weirdness with this distro that I''m not aware of?

HVM Network Interfaces
Hi Everyone,
In my HVM guest''s config file, I have given my guest 3 interface. I have
called them fw1, fw2 and fw3. I have joined each interface to a bridge
on the Dom0. This does appear when I do a "brctl show". However, there
are 3 other interfaces also added called tapx.0,tapx.1 and tapx.2 (Where
x is the domain ID for the guest). Furthermore, I am only able to run

xenballooning
As I understand concept of xenballooning, it allow to take memory from
guest and return it to hypervisor. This allow to reduce amount of memory
allocated to VM in realtime without rebooting VM.
But how we can add more memory to guest VM in realtime, than was at boot
time?
Can we somehow make balloon inflated at start time? (F.e. VM starts with
memory = 512Mb and balloon inflating to +512Mb).

Xen 4.0.1, tap vs tap2, blktap2 documentation, and gentoo-xen-kernel problem
Hi,
I''ve been testing Xen 4.0.1 with kernel 2.6.34.5 +
http://gentoo-xen-kernel.googlecode.com/files/xen-patches-2.6.34-4.tar.bz2,
and one of the things that I noticed immediately is there are two
problems with tapdisk and this combination.
First, the syntax "disk = [''tap:tapdisk:aio: ..." no longer works.
When tested with HVM domU, it boots, but there was no disk

Unable to boot 3.0.0-rc kernels and Xen 4.1.1
Hi everyone,
I''ve compiled 3.0.0-rc6 from kernel.org , with all the pv_ops config
options set as per the Xen wiki. The kernel boots fine, but not in combination
with Xen. All i get is a completely blank screen , and after a minute or so the
machine reboots.
THe hypervisor seems to work OK with other (non-dom0 , 2.6.32.x)
kernels, i can see Xen startup messages, before it finally

Re: Xen-users Digest, Vol 64, Issue 52
Dear James and Andrew!
Thanks much for the help, it seems that viridian=1 solved my problem!
I forced a heavy load last night and no reboots were issued!
I confirm that I had multiple cpus assigned and dom0 heavy load started the
reboot problema, but with viridian=1, everything is OK!
Thanks again for everything!
Regards,
Daniel

windows and type=paravirtualised
Hi!
What benefits do I get if I put "type=paravirtualised" in my network card
config for a Win2k8 domU with PV drivers installed?
Is it necessary, will it improve performance?
I have read about this option here:
http://plone.lucidsolutions.co.nz/linux/xen/windows/windows-server-2008-r2-xen-hvm-installation-with-gpvpv-drivers
Thanks,

ntpd under Xen Dom0 exhibits extremely high jitter/noise? runs stable/quiet under non-xen kernel.
On a selection of boxes, ntpd running in Xen Dom0 reproducibly
exhibits extermely high noise/jitter.
Switching back to -default, non-xen kernel ntpd runs with very low jitter/noise.
Question -- how can I ''tame'' ntpd noise & jitter when running in Dom0?
Is the problem a config issue, or a bug?
Already reported this downstream; everybody''s "stumped".
