XEN CPU ballooning?
Hi, I''m just wondering is it possible, or planned for the new future, to balloon a XEN domU''s CPU cores? i.e. If I setup a domU on a Dual Quad Core machine, but only assign 2 CPU cores to it now, can I add some more later without rebooting? -- Kind Regards Rudi Ahlers SoftDux Website: http://www.SoftDux.com Technical Blog: http://Blog.SoftDux.com Office: 087 805 9573 Cell:

xentop CPU% wrong?
Hello, I noticed that the CPU% reported by xentop appears to be too high. With dom0 idle xentop is reporting between 14-17% CPU utilization while at the same time top in dom0 is reporting 1-4% CPU utilization. I see that the TODO for xentop includes a task to make CPU% more accurate but looking at the code for xentop and libxenstat I''m not sure how to go about this. Assuming the CPU

over-allocation of memory
This is probably a really stupid question, but what happens if you have more memory allocated to domU''s than your physical RAM? Will that cause dom0 to crash? DomU''s to crash? Or just slow performance due to swap use on dom0? I ask this because we''ve got high availability clusters running domU''s, and I want to know how much memory is safe to allocate to

Re: libguestfs on proxmox
Unfortunately I cannot use the latest version of libguestfs therefore I am stuck with the 1.20 since the newest versions need augeas 1.0.0 where debian wheezy has only 0.7 in it’s repository. But I will try to compile the ocaml 4.01 and see what is the result. Keresztes Péter-Zoltán zozo@z0z0.tk I haven’t lost my mind, I know exactly where I left it. On 01 Jul 2014, at 18:19, Richard W.M. Activity logger for Xen Guest Domains using libvirt
Hi all, Wondering if anyone knows of any tools I can run on my Dom0 to log various stats (like CPU usage, memory usage, etc) for each guest domain for analysis over a period of time? I can see that xentop displays that information anyway but would be nice to be able to present that information on a web based interface for day to day administration. Also any tools that send out email

?OT? Linux 2.6: bridge + routing firewall
Hi All! I need to deploy a bridge firewall using linux kernel 2.6. I had success using kernel 2.4 plus br-nf patch. But the configuration does not work with kernel 2.6. If the default policy for the iptables FORWARD chain is ACCEPT I have a bridge. If iptables FORWARD chain is DROP I have an insulator (no packet flows). Any hint? I did some google search and in many places they say "kernel

iteration option for xentop?
Hello to all, Does anyone know if there is an iteration option planned for xentop (similar to top) to make it easier for simple shell scripts to scrape the output? I don''t see one in tools/xenstat/xentop/xentop.c , but I''ve been meaning to play with stuff in libxenstat anyway. If its going to be added soon I''ll tinker much later than sooner. TIA :) Best, -Tim
