install sxce as paravirtual guest
I have tried to define a domain or using virt-install both failed. Could some one give me the correct command to do this? I used: virt-install --nographics --paravirt --os-type=solaris --os-variant=opensolaris --ram 1024 --name cam-host --disk path=/dev/dsk/c0t600A0B800049E902000008EB4A9CE744d0p0,driver=phy -l /export/media_images/sol-nv-b121-x86-dvd.iso thx, florian

Adding apic_verbosity=debug gives me that (hope nothing miss-typed as I have no serial console on this box). DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL by xennet.sys, Server 2008 x64
Hey guys, I''m trying to get a gentoo dom0 running on some new Nehalem boxes. Our dozen or so existing servers run a xenified 2.6.21, but we can''t get the new Intel network chipset working with it. So, I''m giving a pv_ops dom0 from xen-tip/master a go, and Xen 3.4.1 to go with it. rebase/master is a bit too bleeding edge for me. So far, it''s working great.

GPLPV uninstaller
I''ve just uploaded a couple of .bat files to http://www.meadowcourt.org/downloads/gplpv_uninstall_bat.zip that will manually (and forcibly) uninstall GPLPV from your computer, which seems to be necessary before doing upgrades from some versions. Run the uninstaller, reboot, then install. There is a 0.9.x and a 0.10.x uninstaller, which differ slightly, but the basic steps performed are:

GPLPV 0.10.55 net misbehaviour
I''m using W2K2 32bit on a 3.2.1 Lenny-amd64 host. While the pv disk driver works as expected, I encounter problems with the network driver. I tried several installation scenarios, all with the same result. My test looks like this: I install gplpv, but without letting the networking driver install. After reboot I RTL8139 ist still active and working, and gplpv devices manage the disks.

GPLPV drivers suspected to hinder live migration to different CPU type
Hi, I''ve noticed that on a Xen cluster with three nodes (two E5620 CPUs and one E5140 CPU) live migration works perfectly in between to two E5620 nodes, but fails to and from the E5140. The error message is about a HVM context not being able to be set. I strongly suspect the use 238 GPPVL drivers, but I cannot uninstall them at this point because someone else needs the server. Could

virt-manager in b129
It is a pleasure to see what it has become, but - it scrambles the vnc-sessions (start virt-manager, open a win console, close all, start virt-manager again try open vnc-console => fail, fixed by xm vncviewer <name> => fail, again => works, also next time in virt-manager => same problem again) - Is it currently possible to connect to other xvms running next to the machine and may

Stability report GPLPV 0.11.0.308
Hello James, I am doing quite rigorous torture tests with Xen and GPLPV. Let me first repeat the test setup: Use Xen 4.1.1 and kernel 2.6.32.36 (commit ae333e9). Configure 2 HVMs called VM1 and VM2 as follows (per HVM): 2 VCPUs, 2 virtual disks, 1024 MB RAM, viridian=1 Install Windows 2008 R2 SP1, do install everything twice - never clone. Windows 2008 R2 64 bit BSoD
Hello. I''m trying to get the lastest GPLPV binary (rev 238) working on an Ubuntu Server host with Xen 4, but I''ve got some problems. The guest is a 64 bit Windows 2008 R2. After enabling test mode and rebooting, installing and rebooting again (with /NOGPLPV) I can see all the Xen devices, but two (out of three) Xen Block Device Driver have an exclamation mark; I don''t

GPLPV, clock drift and PVUSB in Windows XP HVM
1. Shouldn''t the GPLPV drivers take care of the (bad) clock drift I''m experiencing in my Windows XP HVM? Or is there some other way around this problem that I haven''t been able to find on Google? How can I tell if the GPLPV drivers are active? I''ve added the /gplpv switch to the boot.ini file and the virtual NIC is definitely using the GPLPV version but other

trouble with xennet gplpv in win7x64 xen(xvm)3.4
I have some real problems with the xennet, when disable and try to enable the nic I get a BSoD due to ndis.sys Further more the system still fails to get an IP using dhcp. The box is after a lot of cleanup, now on the 217 GPLPV. I could provide additional details on demand next week. (I''m unsure to get the machine earlier in my reach due to an on site power outage) thx, Florian

Ubuntu HVM installation is very slow
Hi Everyone, I am trying my hands on xen under Solaris SXCE build 113. The machine has the following configuration: 2 Quad Core Xeon CPUs 16 GB RAM Solaris SXCE b113 4 disks - 2 mirrors x 2 stripes under ZFS The problem is that xen HVM is very slow. I am using the following command to create an Ubuntu 9.0.4 test vm. virt-install -n test1 -r 2048 --vcpus=2 -f /vdatapool/data/test1.img -s 50

building xvm-3.4 gate on indiana
There seems to be no list of needed packages, when starting with a fresh opensolaris dev (b121 today). hg gmake I guessed by now. Additionally the stuff mentioned here: http://opensolaris.org/os/project/indiana/building_on/ But are there further packages needed? Maybe some one should add a verified list to the building howtos... Florian

Rebooting Windows guests when running xm reboot
I just installed Windows 2008 x86_64 on Xen 3.2 that I compiled from source on CentOS 5.1. Are there any windows guest tools available that run shutdown when I issue xm reboot in dom0? W2k3 HVM domain QEMU drivers
So I successfully installed the GPLPV drivers in a Windows installation I have running under Xen. Turns out SP2 is needed - I wish this was slightly better documented somewhere, as the machine ended up bluescreening and I had to use /NOGPLPV to get it to boot again so I could upgrade it to SP2. My question is this: I ended up using ''disable'' in device manager for the rtl8139 and
