share folder as USB mass storage device
Hi all!
Maybe I'm just being silly here, but I'm wondering if anybody has ever
used their computer for sharing files over USB. That is, the computer
pretends to be a USB mass storage device.
This could be useful for connecting to media players and such that
support you plugging a USB harddrive or memory stick.
Surely, somebody must have thought of this before :-D

Raw USB mass storage device access
Hello. I am posting here because I can't find a simple answer for something I want to do.
I want raw device access to a USB mass storage device. A CF card to be more precise. The card is not set up in a way Linux can recognise as a mountable volume.
I just want to know two things:
how can I point Wine at the block device, and how can I give the program read/write access to it?
I know it

[PATCH] fix usb hid and mass-storage protocol revision
Minor nit:
When booting a Solaris x86 kernel with verbose kernel messages enabled
inside qemu, with an usb hid or usb mass-storage device, then the Solaris
kernel reports these usb devices as implementing "USB 0.10" protocol.
The comment in the code tells me these device implement v1.0 protocol.
The 16-bit bcdUSB word word in the device descriptor has the protocol
revision swapped and

pciback for usb-controller and usb-storage on x86_64 ends in Oops
Hi!
I tried to pcipassthrough usb-controllers to domu to use it with a
memory-stick.
First xen complained that the driver needs write-access to its
configuration space, so I added these to pci-quirks.
Since it still didn''t work I also added the device to pci-permissive but
I still get an errormessage with Oops (at the end of this email) when
sticking in the memory-stick.

Forwarded USB brokenness
Hi,
I''ve set up a domU with video card access per the instructions at
<http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=68703>; video is
working quite nicely. However, I''m having some trouble getting the
USB keyboard and mouse to work.
I have a motherboard with onboard USB 2.0, and a USB 1.1 PCI card.
The motherboard USB uses several PCI addresses. If I

USB device not connected (CentOS 5.3)
I just tried this with CentOS 5.3 as well, and got exactly the same
symptoms and dmesg output. (As a point of comparison, Ubunu 8.04 on
my work laptop is able to access the drive.)
Obviously "not detected" is a misapprehension, though I'm puzzled why
"lsusb" doesn't show it. The device is there even though the
partition table can't be read.

XCP problem installing on usb-storage device
Hi everyone,
with virtualisation going mainstream, one can find motherboard with
SD/CF card slot on for ultrathin installation. The HP server I had
presented the SD slot as a usb-storage device.
XCP can install fine on this type of device, however on reboot, it just
breaks havoc during initrd''s init script. Actually when creating the
initrd, XCP install script do not include the usb

NAS with Samba and Multi-TT USB Hubs
Dear Sir or Madam,
I've a very specific question about samba...
My setup: I've a Raspberry 3B with Raspbian and a multi-TT USB hub attached to it. A few full-speed (1MB/s) mass-storage devices are going to be connected to this hub. On every device is just one big file (f.e. 50MB .txt file).
Multi-TT just helps reading more full-speed devices on a single hub simultaneously. This works

Hi,
I am trying to provide virtual USB disk devices to guests but without success. With QEMU is simple to plug the virtual USB disk with the command:
(qemu) drive_add 0 id=my_usb_disk,if=none,file=usbdisk.img
OK
(qemu) device_add usb-storage,id=my_usb_disk,drive=my_usb_dis
I can do this with libvirt?

USB Disk
I put a new server together with CentOS 4. This server is doing a number
of functions including ntp, mail, and web server. I had a USB drive
plugged in and it was working great. I could access it at /media/usbdisk
and I copied lots of data to it.
I felt the server was "complete" so I wanted to move it. I shut it down,
moved it, etc. Everything is ok, except that I cannot access the

udev and mobile broadband
Hello,
I have a strong suspicion that something is not working right on my el6 laptop.
I have a usb 3g dongle that works fine on windows and ubuntu. It's one of those ZTE dual-personality devices (usb id 19d2:2000). When it's plugged in, it appears as usb storge device, then needs to be ejected, then it appears as usb modem with few serial ports.
This is handled properly by udev on

HI,
This is my first mail to this mailing list.I want to block external usb
storage completly on my server running on centos 5 having confidiential

For that i used udev and blocked the external usb storage by creating the

Centos 5.7 Xen 4.1 AMD 64 from gitco cannot attach usb port to domU windows 7
Hi.
Just wondering is someone have been able to connect usb memory sticks
in xen 4.1-gitco running hvm windows 7?
I use xen 4.1 from gitco, is working without any issue, I need support
for a usb memory stick, but I had not been able to make this works.
Reading xm commands and process, first my MB Biostar A780L3L v6 wont
support IOMMU.
Now exist a doc from xen wiki from someone from Fujitso

It won't be mounted, it will just be passed through as a device,
i.e. you will see it in the lsusb output.

Windows Host Blue-Screening.
I am VERY new to using Xen, and I am having some issues with hosting Windows
guests.
Lets break it down.
I am running Xen, on a Dell Optiplex 745 desktop with a single integrated
NIC that is hosting two Windows 2003 Server standard edition SP 2 each
configured with 2 NICs. The original image was configured and setup, and
then cloned through the UI.
The issue I am experiencing now is the two
