file monitoring in samba
Does anyone know how can I monitor files that was being open and access in the samba directory? If this was not possible, is there third party apps that can help me do what I want? -- Nelson Serafica http://nelsontux.blogspot.com

Files monitoring through Samba
I am trying to setup a way to watch each file that is created, updated, and deleted through samba. I have currently looked at inotify but I am not sure if that is the best way. What suggestions would you have to setup a way to get some type of event when one of these actions occur? I would like to watch a directory recursively and be able to run a shell script or perl script and that script know

Import zpool from FreeBSD in OpenSolaris
I want to import my zpool''s from FreeBSD 8.0 in OpenSolaris 2009.06. After reading the few posts (links below) I was able to find on the subject, it seems like it there is a differences between FreeBSD and Solaris. FreeBSD operates on directly on the disk and Solaris creates a partion and uses that... is that right? Is it impossible for OpenSolaris to use zpool''s from FreeBSD?

FLAG DAY: vdiskadm import/export/convert
I''ve just pushed vdiskadm import/export/convert to the 3.3 vdisk and vbox repos. You can now import a disk image from a block device or file to a vdisk, convert (in place) to a different type of vdisk and export from a vdisk to a block device or file. I''ve also pushed the full vhd support (sparse and fixed) and the ability to import a vmdk 1.1 optimized stream file. An

How create a FAT filesystem on a zvol?
The `lofiadm'' man page describes how to export a file as a block device and then use `mkfs -F pcfs'' to create a FAT filesystem on it. Can''t I do the same thing by first creating a zvol and then creating a FAT filesystem on it? Nothing I''ve tried seems to work. Isn''t the zvol just another block device? -- -Gary Mills- -Unix Group-

4th Submission to Samba List -- No Response Yet
I have samba 3.0.28 installed on several servers and winbind dies every couple of days on all of them. I have a 1.5TB disk that has several partitions. One of them is 900GB. Now I can only see 300GB. Where is the rest? Is there a command I can do to reach the rest of the data? Will scrub help? -- This message posted from opensolaris.org

Help! ZFS pool is UNAVAILABLE
Hi All, I posted this in a different threat, but it was recommended that I post in this one. Basically, I have a 3 drive raidz array on internal Seagate drives. running build 64nv. I purchased 3 add''l USB drives with the intention of mirroring and then migrating the data to the new USB drives. I accidentally added the 3 USB drives in a raidz to my original storage pool, so now I have 2

Fedora 11 DomU
When I try to virt-install a PV instance of F11, I''m getting an ''invalid kernel'' message, as if it''s not a Xen kernel. I have tried both the i386 and x86_64 versions. Is there any weirdness with this distro that I''m not aware of?

Intermittently Get "Target filesystem does not support long file names" when copying file to Samba share
I have two CentOS servers running samba3-3.0.34-37. When I connect to a samba share from my Windows 2003 R2 servers, and then try to copy a file to it, I often get the message "target filesystem does not support long filenames." Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. I've been fighting this problem for 2 years. I've replaced my Windows servers, changed my Windows

unistalling gplpv from win7x64 gives BSOD
I have installed the 210 gplpv (debug), when I try to update them with current gplpv I get a BSOD even so when I try to uninstall them. Now I have made a bootentry that specifies NOGPLPV, what gives me a bootable system after such a crash, I found (uninstalling the leftover driver packages after getting bsod during uninstall of the main package) that uninstalling the net driver leads to bsod. rebased openSUSE dom0 xen patches for 2.6.31
Hi, I have uploaded a new set of rebased openSUSE dom0 xen patches and Gentoo ebuild for 2.6.31 to http://code.google.com/p/gentoo-xen-kernel/downloads/list, Jan Beulich recently identified the cause of the null pointer crash and other stability problems that affected previous versions and with the necessary fixes applied the kernel has run for 2+ days with no issues at all, I think you will find

We have a 10Gbps connection to our server so I need to be able to create VMs using the faster e1000 nics instead of the default Realtek 100Mbps ones but I''m not sure how to go about it. xen-testing and redhat-cluster devel
Hi, I''m using xen on two-node redhat cluster (CVS devel version), using lvm as storage backend. redhat cluster is used to synchronize LVM metadata (using clvmd) and as storage for domain configs and dom-U kernels (with gfs). Latest version of redhat cluster works with xen-2.0.4, but not with xen-2.0-testing. ccsd failed to start on 2.0-testing. Anyone knows what the problem is? I
