virsh vs. xm, and questions about different distributions of Xen
Virsh (the xm-like tool that comes with libvirt) uses .xml files to define and describe DomUs. xm uses simple configuration files to define and describe DomUs. Is there any interoperability between these two? Like can virsh take an xm DomU config file, or vice versa? Or is there a tool to translate between them? On a somewhat related note, can anyone tell me at a high level what is different

"xm list" causing "OverflowError: int exceeds XML-RPC limits"
I am getting the following error with "xm list" on a x86_64 SLES10 Beta system running changeset 9435:11fee62328cc. I am able to bring up DomUs and I am able to do "xm info" without issues. But I am seeing similar "OverflowError: int exceeds XML-RPC limits" with "xm shutdown" and "xm destroy". My python version is 2.4.2. Any way I can get around

Re: unable to access Linux HVM via xm console - Couldnot read tty from store: No such file or directory
HVM = fully virtualized. The question is, why are you using fully virtualized domUs? Why not paravirtualized (PV)? >>> On 2008/06/16 at 16:07, Rudi Ahlers <Rudi@SoftDux.com> wrote: Itamar - IspBrasil wrote: > why you''re using hvm ? its slow > > > > Rudi Ahlers wrote: >> Hi all >> >> I''m running CentOS 5.1 x64 + Xen 3.0 & I

Unable to xm console in a running domU
Hi list, I am running a virtualized server. Dom0 uses Xen 3.2.1 with Debian Etch and a custom kernel 2.6.21 created by my webhosting company. I install my domU using debootstrap for a Debian Etch with 2.6.18-6-xen-amd64 kernel. Everything works well except the fact that once the VM is started I cannot "xm console" into it. It only works while it is booting and while it is shutting

System unusable (hangs) after xm create - xen 4
Hello I have a production server, on which I had to install a new OS. Unfortunately, xen is not willing to run any domUs! Any help would be most highly appreciated. My problem is essentially that described in this post, to which there was no answer at the time: <http://lists.xensource.com/archives/html/xen-devel/2009-06/msg01147.html> Symptoms: When trying to xm create a previously

I hate intermittent problems ... Most of the time, my domUs launch just fine. [PATCH] symmetricalization of system info command xm info, top, dmesg and log
These xm info, top, dmesg and log requre no parameter. But log''s error message differs from other 3 command''s error messages, when parameter is given. # xm log 1 Error: ''xm log'' requires 0 argument. log Print the xend log Other 3 commands ignore parameter. I think it might be better symmetricalize. Signed-off-by: Yoshinori

xm shutdown timeout
xend has a timeout such that if an ''xm shutdown'' request does not result in the domain shutting down within a certain time period, the domain is violently destroyed. This seems like a strange choice - if the domain isn''t responding properly to such requests, then it must be in a buggy state, and should surely be preserved for administrator action (dumping core,

domU configs for virt-manager
hi all, I can''t create domU with the virt-manager, but I''d like to use it anyway. If I start domUs from command line (xm create ~) I can see them in the virt-manager, but they''re gone after I pause them or stop them. I assume that the virt-manager has some place where it saves config files for domUs, on linux it is usually /etc/xen/vm. I went in some obvious places
