RE: AM2 motherboards with HVM support
It would appear that BIOS revision F8 fixes this issue. Virtualization is now a supported option. > > _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users

Xen on AM2 nForce 590 (Asus M2N32-SLI Deluxe)
While I wait for the Xen 3.0 Test CD to download, has anyone has luck using an Asus M2N32-SLI Deluxe motherboard (NVIDIA nForce 590 SLI MCP chipset)? The CPU is an AMD Athlon64 X2 3800+ AM2 w/ 2GB DDR2 533. The motherboard mostly works under Gentoo using kernel 2.6.18 with the "noapic" kernel boot option in my grub.conf file. The only major issue with the Gentoo kernel

Any recomendations for Motherboards?
What socket AM2 motherboards out there work well with xen (i.e. support > 4G ram, sata and lan chipsets work). I''m looking to probably run one of the lowpower Athlon 64 X2 4200''s in it. I''d also like to see atleast 4 ram slots. Anyone have any recomendations? Thanks, Doug _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list

HVM Support
Greetings, I have recently built two machines both with Intel VT technology CPU''s but when I try to create a hvm guest I get an error that the host doesn''t support it. Is there a compatibility guide I can consult on whether perhaps my motherboards are either not compliant or perhaps need a bios or jumper setting adjusted to enable hardware virtualization support?

HVM Loader in 3.0.3-testing missing?
Hello list, I''ve installed Xen 3.0.3-testing from source on my spiffy new socket AM2 machine and I''m eager to play with fully virtualized guests. The problem is, it seems the hvmloader wasn''t installed (or built) when I built and installed Xen. I''m getting the following error : Error: Kernel image does not exist: /usr/lib/xen/boot/hvmloader So I did a quick

Warning regarding AMD Athalon 64 4200+(HVM/AMD-V)
Hello to all, For those evaluating the AMD X2 4200+ series for the purposes of running HVM guests, take a note below before purchasing if the server you are purchasing happens to be made by HP. There is an oddball version (apparently OEM sold to HP) which does *not* support AMD-V technology. I''ve seen many of these on e-bay as well as for sale / lease by popular co-location facilities.

Decent motherboard with VT-d (Intel) support?
I know most of the motherboards based off of the Intel Q35 northbridge usually have VT-d options for it to be enabled or disabled in the BIOS.  I''ve heard the same for Intel 5400''s and Intel 3200/3210''s but been looking through manuals for various server boards and don''t see VT-d options in the BIOS. However, I was wondering if anyone had success stories or

Hi, I have problem installing or running domU OS (Windows XP or Redhat 7.3). The machine runs CentOS 4.4 X86_64, Xen-3.0.3. Paravirtual domU works without problem. The problem is that when I run command "xm create <config>", nothing would happen. hvmloader does not seem get started at all. I''ve tried installing both 64bit and 32bit vnc, sdl but did not see any

HVM guest support unavailable
Hi, when I try to start a hvm the well known error message "Error: HVM guest support is unavailable: is VT/AMD-V supported by your CPU and enabled in your BIOS?" appears. I am using an Intel E8400 on Asus P5E VM DO Board. /proc/cpuinfo info shows that the CPU has vmx support. I have enabled "Vanderpool Technology" in BIOS. According to the xen user manual the package dev86

[RFC] [PATCH] HVM SMBIOS support 0/6
This series of patches adds support for SMBIOS to HVM domU''s. This is needed by many systems management applications, most often to get a useful UUID inside of an HVM domU. They have been tested on changeset 10486:5610d916ad1be231bd6b6c7ae26665374623a90c of xen-unstable. Any comments or help would be greatly appreciated. RE: Installing Redhat 7,3 with hvm
Not yet, but I don''t see any reason for it to work any differently. I simply used vmware because it was convenient. -Adam | -----Original Message----- | From: Simon Gao [mailto:gao@schrodinger.com] | Sent: Thursday, October 05, 2006 11:22 AM | To: Adam Crews -X (acrews - Xerox at Cisco) | Cc: xen-users@lists.xensource.com; Mike Freemon | Subject: Re: [Xen-users]

HVM - BIOS serial console redirection?
I realized this is probably better suited for the devel list.. basically, is there any way in the BOCHS bios to enable ''Serial Console Redirection'', where you see the BIOS contents over the serial line? Windows 2003''s ''Emergency Management Services'' console (which allows you to do installs and fix stuff over the serial line) requires this to
