Upgrading xen from CentOS 5.0 to 5.2
Hi, We are planning to upgrade our dom0s from CentOS5.0 to CentOS 5.2, using the xen version shipped with the OS : the RPM versions are respectively 3.0.3-25.el5 and 3.0.3-64.el5_2.1, I don''t know exactly to which version of Xen it corresponds (but it should be further than 3.0.3, right ?). Kernel versions are resp. 2.6.18-8.el5xen and 2.6.18-92.el5xen. As we want to avoid any

Gutsy Xen 3.1 2.6.22-9-xen network-bridge problem
Hi, I have a strange problem with my networking setup. I read all forums around the world where people had similar problems, but couldn''t find a solution. I have an Attansic L1 gigeth chip on my mainboard. This chip works OK in stock Ubuntu Gutsy (development) 2.6.22-9-generic kernel. When I boot into Xen, and after the bridge is created, the network stops working. Some info: - If I

No shared physical device in virt-manger on centos 5.2
I''m using xen-3.0.3-64.el5_2.1 on centos 5.2. When I installed centos 5.2 at first time, I could see shared physical device (xenbr0). but after updating virtualization package by yum, it disappeared... connection.py is patched at centos 5.2 release time. so I can''t find out what''s wrong.... bridge configuration is below and it''s normal state.

Why does domU Windows have to be re-registered after Xen 3.1.0 dom0 upgrade
Hi all, Just wondering if anybody knows the answer to this mystery? I upgraded my Dom0 from Xen 3.0.4 + kernel 2.6.16.33-xen to Xen 3.1.0 + kernel 2.6.18-xen. After the upgrade, my domU (WInXP home edition) popped up a message saying that it needed to be re-registered with Microsoft, owing to significant changes in the hardware environment on which it is running. Something about windows

PV Drivers: XenSource ones VS GPL''ed
Hi all, I''m testing a windows 2003r2 installation on Centos 5 so i''im wondering about the reliability of Windows PV drivers on a domU running on the GPL "flavor" of XEN. - which are the most stable PV drivers GPL''ed ones or XenSource ones? - is safe running the XenSource ones on a GPL XEN machine or vice-versa? thanks, -- Ruggero Tonelli

what the H is this virbr0?
Hi, I just tested in the lab the new CentOS 5.1 Xen and find out it breaks network connectivity, at least in my setup. It seems it is somehow making use of the 3.1 Xen version (altought I am not sure about that) but whatever changes it introduce is not documented at the location one would expect, the obvious new thing (at least for me) is this thing I will call out of guessing a virtual

Xen-3.1 on Ubuntu 7.10 keeps crashing
After numerous attempts to get Xen up and running, I''m on the edge of giving up. I''m now running Xen-3.1 / Ubuntu-7.10 When trying to build a DomU I always crash. Tryied it with LVM and also the guide at: http://www.howtoforge.com/ubuntu-7.10-server-install-xen-from-ubuntu-repositories I changed memory-cards but still no results. Most of the crashes happen when doing a

GPL PV drivers for Windows - WDM version
I''m been busily converting the xenpci and xenvbd drivers from WDF to WDM to resolve a few issues including potential licensing problems with the Microsoft WDF and to (hopefully) allow them to function as boot drivers when doing install and system recovery. It was a fairly major rewrite of xenpci, and xenvbd, which are now working (booting and running without crashes so far). I

Default disk I/O scheduler in linux guest
Hi, all, I just found out that xen assigns the NOOP disk scheduler for linux guest OSes. Dom0 uses cfq scheduler (it is the linux default). Is there a reason for xen to turn off disk request merging in the quest OS by selecting a NOOP scheduler? Is it because the request optimization will be performed in dom0 or VMM ? Thansk in advance, Jia. _______________________________________________

Shared File System
I have a few cases where I need to share a filesystem (Read/Write) with multiple DomUs. Currently I use NFS to accomplish this task. However, NFS on Fedora 7 locks up under heavy traffic from time to time, forcing a reboot. Wouldn''t want that on the Dom0. Any one recommend a good way of sharing a file system in read/write with multiple DomUs? -- View this message in context:
