Semantics of "smb ports = 0"
Hello, The qemu emulator has a feature to fork a samba instance for file sharing with the emulated hosts. It communicates with smbd over stdin. The generated configuration file contains a "smb ports = 0" directive to prevent smbd from listening to any ports. Unfortunately, with at least Samba 3.6.4 this causes a segfault instead: [0] vostro:/tmp/qemu-smb.6836-0# smbd -i -s smb.conf

XEN - Broadcom issue: survey
I totally agree with Luc Boudreau about this problem. On modern branded server they ALL use Broadcom chipset... I must admit that: a) lot of people are experiencing the problem but can tolerate it or b) someone already experienced this problem and solved it Lets'' approach the problem pragmatically... just start with a survey on the list. ... hope we solve this issue soon. Anyone Using a Dell PowerEdge T105 in Production
Unbeatable price for a low end Asterisk server (or any server for that matter) http://configure.us.dell.com/dellstore/config.aspx?c=us&cs=04&kc=6W300&l=en&oc=bednv4k&s=bsd I wonder if anyone has any experience with this box and Digium or Sangoma hardware? Any compatibility issues? If not, I might stock up on them. Thanks, Steve Totaro -------------- next part

IBM SDD(Subsystem Device Driver) with Xen
Hi, I know that IBM SDD(Subsystem Device Driver) for linux are all for kernel version 2.6.9 or lower - for RHEL4 or less, SLES9 or less I installed IBMsdd rpm, but failed to command "sdd start". I use XenExpress version (xen-3.0.4 version) with 2.6.16 kernel. My questions are 1. Is there anyone who use IBM SDD module with the dom0''s 2.6.16 kernel on Xen-3.0.4 ???? if then,

kernel panic PCI-DMA: Random memory would be DMAed
I am attempting to run Xen 3.1.1 on a HP DL385 G2 box (opteron based system), using Gentoo. The machine will boot, and I can login and edit files etc, but as soon as I do anything more intensive such as copying files off a cdrom (making me think it is a cciss driver problem) or running make, I get the following : kernel panic not syncing: PCI-DMA: Random memory would be DMAed Searching on

Xen Book
Hi, I had read on this thread - http://lists.xensource.com/archives/html/xen-users/2006-03/msg00759.html - (which is about a year old) about a Xen book being written. Any updates or others currently writing books on Xen? Trouble getting all my com-ports (ttyS*)
I just installed CentOS 5.1 on a Dell Vostro 200 (Intel G33) which has a Sunix PCI-Express (x1) 8-port RS-232 card installed. For me it looks like only 4 ports are recognized, but I'm not sure if it's even working with those 4. >From 'dmesg' I see this: ... Serial: 8250/16550 driver $Revision: 1.90 $ 4 ports, IRQ sharing enabled ACPI: PCI Interrupt 0000:04:00.0[A] -> GSI 19

Subnet specification for tinc node as default gateway
Hello, I want to use a tinc node as a default gateway in router mode. My first attempt was to just add an extra, lower priority subnet for the host that should act as the gateway: Subnet = 192.168.12.2/32 Subnet = 0.0.0.0/0#20 but this doesn't seem to work: # route add 173.255.235.238 gw 192.168.12.2 # ping 173.255.235.238 results in the local tinc process complaining that Read packet

(BasicAA) PartialAlias between different fields of a structure, intentional?
Hi, We've seen a similar case recently, where BasicAA returns PartialAlias for the access of two different fields of a structure. We noticed this since Lint complained about it when checking for aliasing beteen "noalias" attributed parameters: opt -S -lint ./alias.ll gave Unusual: noalias argument aliases another argument on the (silly) function: %rec7 = type { i16, i16, i16
