AMD SVN and Xen3
So, as promised, here an first summary. Hardware: AMD Athlon64 X2-4600+ with Asus M2N-Mainboard. Just a short hint: By far not all memory modules work with the Asus boards! Make sure to have compatible ones... After 2 days of trial and error I got the following results: Debian "Sarge" x64: Doesn''t like the new nVidia SATA-Controller (will check today with PATA-interface)

strange VLAN / domu behavior
Hi there! I am currently setting up a Xen box on 3 VLans, each VLan interface is in a bridge and currently, dom0 is reachable from on of these and is performing great. My only problem is with domU : it can ping anything but it won''t work for TCP and UDP protocol UNLESS I do a manual tcpdump on my vlan interface. Bridges on dom0: xen-vl97 8000.001372529fbf no

Xen on AM2 nForce 590 (Asus M2N32-SLI Deluxe)
While I wait for the Xen 3.0 Test CD to download, has anyone has luck using an Asus M2N32-SLI Deluxe motherboard (NVIDIA nForce 590 SLI MCP chipset)? The CPU is an AMD Athlon64 X2 3800+ AM2 w/ 2GB DDR2 533. The motherboard mostly works under Gentoo using kernel 2.6.18 with the "noapic" kernel boot option in my grub.conf file. The only major issue with the Gentoo kernel

Upgrading Server Motherboard
I have a server running CentOS 4.2 that works as a web/email with very heavy load. It runs Directadmin web gui which is like Cpanel. It runs on a cheapy mATX motherboard(ECS 741GX-M) with socket A 2800+ CPU and 2Gbyte DDR. The OS and data are on a 300Gbyte PATA maxtor drive and data backups are run weekly to another PATA drive. The server is overwelmed and data backups take over 5 hours to

ZFS Hardware Check, OS X Compatibility, NEWBIE!!
This is my first post here, and i hope it is ok that i posted in this thread. I have been doing a bit of reading on the solaris platforms, and seem to be inclined to try out the open solaris os or solaris 10. My only worry is that my lack of knowledge with the command line may make this difficult regarding trouble shooting. It seems fairly straighforward creating zpools etc, but maybe nexenta is

Current best AMD processor for running mainstream games?
Hi all, I want to buy a processor that will be good for gaming in Wine in FreeBSD. I see that many game engines are starting to take advantage of multi-core systems, however it appears that multi-threaded applications are not distributed properly across multiple cores (Ex: Starcraft II - http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=20882 ). So I'm not sure if I should aim

again on ubuntu 7.10 and amd64
Hi there, this is my first post to the list. I'm a newcomer to the linux world. I started using it on a regular basis on May and I must say I'm quite comfortable with it, even if I have to re-learn a lot of things. But this is not a problem, I will improve my knowledge with time. My main problem now is that I bought myself a new computer (described at the end of this e-mail) and I was

confused with 2 boxes centos 5
Hi All, I had a box centos5 AMD64 X2 4200+, Asus motherboard, Nvidia 7100 video card, 512M, when playing a video at 1080p it did well but had a couple times went out of sync. So amd dropped its price and I got a 5200+, gigabyte motherboard, Nvidia 7100 video card, 512M. This FASTER system is actually slower. The video is WAY behind on sync. I have looked at the X config they are the same. I

Screen blanks after initial setup (Centos 5)
Hi, The installation process went without noticable problems; this is true to the setup phase immediately after the installtion. However: after pressing "Finish" in the Setup Agent the screen blanked on me - Ctrl-Alt-F1, Ctrl-Alt-F2, Ctrl-Alt-backspace, Ctrl-Alt-Del didn't help. Nada. Did someone else have encountered this? Any recommendations? Thanks in advance. System:

Any recomendations for Motherboards?
What socket AM2 motherboards out there work well with xen (i.e. support > 4G ram, sata and lan chipsets work). I''m looking to probably run one of the lowpower Athlon 64 X2 4200''s in it. I''d also like to see atleast 4 ram slots. Anyone have any recomendations? Thanks, Doug _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list

HVM Loader in 3.0.3-testing missing?
Hello list, I''ve installed Xen 3.0.3-testing from source on my spiffy new socket AM2 machine and I''m eager to play with fully virtualized guests. The problem is, it seems the hvmloader wasn''t installed (or built) when I built and installed Xen. I''m getting the following error : Error: Kernel image does not exist: /usr/lib/xen/boot/hvmloader So I did a quick

I''m eyeballing the KI690-AM2... http://www.albatron.com.tw/english/product/mb/pro_detail.asp?rlink=Overview&no=239 ...but am having a difficult time locating it and a suitable case currently. OT: AMD CPU actual speed....
I know this is a bit OT, but the subject of CPU speed came up here and I was (and have been for some time) curious: What is the actual speed of an AMD CPU? E.g., I have a Athlon 64 X2 "4200+" but my /proc/cpuinfo shows 1005.164 MHz for the two cores. What do those mean? Is there a reference for this (huge) discrepancy? Also, is there a way (and what) to tell what the actuall running
