GELI partition mount on boot fails after 7.0 -> 7.1-PRERELEASE upgrade
I was using a GELI partition for /usr/home on 7.0, so it attaches and mounts
on boot. The problem is it stopped working after the system was upgraded to
RELENG_7/7.1-PRERELEASE. Here's how it goes:
I have the following /etc/fstab:
/dev/ad0s1b none swap sw 0 0
/dev/ad0s1a / ufs rw 1 1

Hi list,

Dom1: WinXP HVM
I want to give the Dom1 full access to the wifi card, and the
possibility to use USB pen drive. So I''ve hidden the pci address

Help on syncing a windows server
Hello,
At my work we have multiple freebsd machines running samba. Love it, things
are working great. We have several windows 2000 servers that our engineers
store their working drawings on. I need to create a mirror of this
engineering windows 2000 machine to a freebsd machine running samba. The
purpose of this is so that regular employees, welders whatever can just read

bugged sysinstall, bsdlabel, zfs, gmirror - recept for disaster :)
Hello there!
Here's my story, hopefully some of you won't follow my steps and avoid
some troubles :)
Yesterday I've decided that's about time to test zfs functionality on my
home server PC (i386 FreeBSD 7.1-pre) . A couple of weeks ago I bought
new desktop PC (with SATA), so I had a bunch of PATA disks from old one
to use in server. Lucky me - there was 3 HDD at size 40GB -

Strange performance loss
I''m moving some data off an old machine to something reasonably new.
Normally, the new machine performs better, but I have one case just now
where the new system is terribly slow.
Old machine - V880 (Solaris 8) with SVM raid-5:
# ptime du -kds foo
15043722 foo
real 6.955
user 0.964
sys 5.492
And now the new machine - T5140 (latest Solaris 10) with ZFS

geli or gbde encryption of slices
Hello,
I was playing around with geli an gbde after last EuroBSDCon.
I liked the idea of encrypting my data which resides in /home/$user.
Since this is a "single" user laptop i intended to encrypt the
whole /home partition. Well no problems with that. But i wanted
the lockfile or keyfile on a seperate usb disc. Which would be
mounted or used during boot of the system. I also used

ad0: READ command timeout....
This morning I found a frozen box. On the console was this:
ad0: READ command timeout tag=0 serv=0 - resetting
ata0: resetting devices .. ata0-slave: ATA identify retries exceeded
done
After reboot, those messages were found in /var/log/messages.
I'm running FreeBSD 4.8-RC from Apr 4 10:45:49 EST 2003.
Any ideas?

[ADS]Trust relationship 'expires'
Hi folks,
I have an issue that has me shaking my head.
Once a workstation has made the initial connection to a host, things
seem to work well for a day or so. However, if the resource hasn't been
accessed in a while, and then a connection is retried, this following
message is returned:
"\\hostname is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this
network resource. Contact

mismatching vinum configurations
Hi,
I had a power failure, and the on-disk configuration for vinum went
bizarre. The logs read from disks are at http://biaix.org/pk/debug/
(log.$DEVICE files). The logs in da0 (barracuda) are the ones obviously
wrong, I'm pretty sure the others are ok. Is this a 'virtually' dead
drive? Can I force vinum to use the other's drive configuration? What's
the less traumatic

[CentOS 5] - SAMBA+LDAP
Hi!
I?m have some problems deploying OPENLDAP+SAMBA+PAM+NSSWITCH. When I restart
the server with those services, the DBUS service crash. And when I try
disable DBUS service on system start Avahi crashs too.
Someone here have this problem? There?s a BUG on CentOS 5? Maybe PAM not
talking with LDAP on startup?
I can send some logfile and my system-auth setup.
Thanks for your attention.

Problem with keypress event handling
Hi all,
we are writing a cross browser Javascript control that enhances the
HTML text input element in order to accept only digits (more or less).
Supposing that ''domText'' is the DOM element corresponding to the HTML
text input, we wrote the following:
Event.observe(domText, "keypress",
this.onKeyPress.bindAsEventListener(this));
where
this.onKeyPress =

offtop WMV3/9 mms://
Using icecast you can stream nsv (nullsoft video) with aac+ or mp3 audio.
There is an activex based web client or winamp client... Its better than nothing!
