Hi! I?m have some problems deploying OPENLDAP+SAMBA+PAM+NSSWITCH. When I restart the server with those services, the DBUS service crash. And when I try disable DBUS service on system start Avahi crashs too. Someone here have this problem? There?s a BUG on CentOS 5? Maybe PAM not talking with LDAP on startup? I can send some logfile and my system-auth setup. Thanks for your attention. -- /\ Gabriel Stein gabrielfstein at gmail.com MSN: gabrielstein at hotmail.com Administrador de Redes - Network Administrador Linux User #223750 51-92796310 Porto Alegre - RS - Brasil -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... I ran into this when putting a CentOS 5 machine on our DMZ without first allowing packets from that machine to reach the LDAP server. I couldn't figure out what was amiss until I scanned the firewall logs. Oops. :-/ -- Paul Heinlein <> heinlein at madboa.com <> http://www.madboa.com/
Well, we are trying to setup this combination too. I have observed this problem as well. My PAM do not talk LDAP either, but even not in later phases, but that is just some TLS problem by me. If you observe hangouts of DBUS and Avahi at the startup, it is natural as those start always before LDAP, so you have to help yourself in different way. Just set in /etc/ldap.conf: bind_policy soft It is official cure to that. Otherwise will ldap bail out with exponential growth of bail out time.
