CentOS 5 on a Thinkpad T60 laptop
Hello,
I'm considering buying a second-hand Thinkpad T60 (with 2 GB RAM), as
a secondary laptop in order to run CentOS 5 on the field.
My main focus is therefore to have something robust, reliable and
above all well compatible with CentOS.
Hibernate / suspend feature are important to me, because that's the
main issue I have with CentOS on other laptops.
I have found the following

xen test cd doesn''t boot on thinkpad t60
Hi,
This might be a bug report, but I ask here before I add a bug to bugzilla:
When trying to boot the xen test cd, to give you a report of the
functionality of my new thinkpad T60, I experience this cd doesn''t even
boot on the T60.
It stops at the grub boot saying "loading stage2", never doing anything
else anymore.
Burned the iso multiple times, it boots on other machines,

I've just received my new 6400 (T7400, 2GB, 160GB, Vista Home Premium)
and I'd like to install CentOS 5 too. With big surprise (looking at the

HMV + linux no network interface
Hi,
I have installed xen 3.0.3 on gentoo 2006.1
The machine is a laptop with amd turion x2 ML-60.
I can boot into xen, xend stars normally.
When I try to boot a linux livecd using HVM, there is
no network interface (I used several different linux distributions).
It''s not a driver problem, since the hardware is not even
listed on dmesg log. While booting the livecd there is a

running puppet withput puppetmasterd
Hi,
I''m pretty sure I once did some experiments with running puppet
wihtout a puppertmasterd - but having a "normal" puppet manifests and
modules structure in /etc/puppet.
Sadly, I can''t find how to do that anymore.
I know I can write plain puppet instructions in a file.pp and run them
plainly - but I want the whole config as if it would reside on a
server)

Using rsync with the iriver T60
I was about to ask how to get this to work, but I think I might have solved it
with another last look down the documentation before I clicked on the send
button.
I have an annoying little problem known as the iriver T60 audio player.
It plays Ogg files from my PC perfectly well, but only in the same order in
which it thinks they were copied onto its flash memory. It makes no attempt

Xen and ACPI Sleep
Hi,
I am currently testing Xen on my laptop and was wondering if there was
any way to enable ACPI sleep so that I can resume sessions when I''m on
the go. Is this possible? If so, could you please highlight how to
achieve this? Thank you.

Xen and VMWare Server co-existing?
Not that VMWare have released VMWare Server as a free product i''m
interested in using it where my hardware isn''t VT enabled to run
non-linux environments. Ideally I''d like to run it on the Xen Dom0
environment so that I can run a mixture of Linux DomU and Windows VMWare
instances.
Any ideas if this is feasible, and which version of Xen I should be
considering. At

Xen (dom0) Kernels in Lenny
Hi,
Freeze is coming closer, and it starts more and more to look like there
will be no (complete, especially lacking dom0 Kernel patches) Xen
support in lenny if nothing changes, like:
2) Some people come together and try to work out the needed patches for
the newest Kernels and make them available in Debian. (I don't know
what's the newest available patchset, would be interesting to

where to get kernel patches
Hi,
I''m always having problems finding actual kernel patches of Xen. Because
I need other bleeding-edge kernel stuff, I need at least > 2.6.18,
better still 2.6.19-rcs. I''m used to compile my own kernels, often using
some additional patches, but for Xen...?
Doesn''t fedora core have at least patches against 2.6.18? Where can I
find them?

DMA disabled on SATA disk with Core Duo/i955 machine (Inspiron 6400)
I am trying to use CentOS 4 on this machine and it does not allow me to
set DMA to 1, it just says that it is not possible. I have tried
updating to the latest release and it still won't work.
I have searched for it on Google and there is a thread mentioning the
same machine and CentOS, but none of the solutions (-p, -X 12) seem to
work at all and there is no "it works!!!!!"

How to run cloud image for 6.5?
Hi,
On my way to run centOS 6.5 on OpenStack I found the cloud images at
http://cloud.centos.org/centos/6.5/devel/
and while the corresponding image for centOS 7 seems to work fine, I
still need the older version for some legacy application, but I cannot
find a way to run the images provided in that directory.
Especially I'm looking at

Bug#429045: xen-doc pdf gzipped
Package: xen-docs-3.0
Version: 3.0.3-0-2
The PDF's are gzipped.
As there is no PDF reader that can open such files, the process to get
to read the docs is quite complicated.
I doubt this package is useful that way. Then it's faster to lookup the
docs on the net. To make it useful, please don't zip the files.

using physical disks with HVM
Hi,
As a previous thread in
http://lists.xensource.com/archives/html/xen-users/2006-06/msg01111.html
tells, it should be possible tun run hvm domains with a physical disk.
There where other threads about this, but no solution for my current
problem.
When I try to use a disk defined as
disk = [ ''phy:data/faitest-client-generic-hvm-disk,ioemu:hda,w'']

Xen 3.1 in unstable?
Hi,
I just happen to see that there are no Xen 3.1 packages in unstable as
of yet - even if 3.1 is released since a while now. There are the
Packages in Ralph's apt repository, but I wonder why there are no newer
packages yet.
This shouldn't be criticism, but two questions come up:
1) Is the reason that there are no newer packages that you need some
more help? Then I might be able to
