Sorry, I made a mistake to re-install my SUSE without backing-up the original entry of this topic in my mailbox. But please don''t mind, that previous mailbox itself had been very new and contained only a few mail data. My case: Suse 9.3 "kernel panic - not syncing: VFS
Hi, Tom I recently got SUSE-Xen running. During the trial I got similar error: "kernel panic - not syncing: VFS: Unable tomount root fs on unknown-block (3, 1)" This was fixed when I add to xen-config file this line: # Optional ramdisk. ramdisk = "/boot/initrd-xen" It might be commented out if you use the config file example "xmexample1".

Running Fedora Core 5 on top of SUSE 10.1
Noniko, I saw your posting titled "SUSE10.1 has a nice Xen package again" and I was wondering if you had found any documentation on how to run Fedora Core 5 on top of SUSE10.1. Did you build the Fedora environment on a separate Fedora machine and then brought it over to the SUSE machine or did you find the Fedora tools (Yum/Anaconda) on SUSE? Many thanks in advance. Error booting an opensuse iso image
Hi list, I try to install opensuse 10.2 in a VM over Xen 3.0.4. My method is to declare a cdrom disk as hdb pointing to an iso image and boot the VM which launch the cdrom programm. However, with opensuse, the VM freeze just after having boot on the virtual cdrom. Last message is : ISOLINUX 3.31 0x45688c0e Copyright (C) 1994-2005 H. Peter Anvin Loading... Then the virtual CPU goes to 100% use.

Configure / enable xenbr1 on SLES10 base system

Hi everyone, I generated my own DomU guest using opensuse''s yast dirinstall and stored it on a seperate iscsi target. If this were a normal DVD, you'd have to specify the file system: mount -t iso9660 -o loop save.dd /mnt/backup But you say the DVD uses a non-standard file system, so this

It looks like you've backuped an entire disk that might contain partitions. So first check if you have partitions inside: sudo fdisk -lu save.dd If you have partitions inside, use the start offset of the partition to create a loopback device (e.g. a partition starts at 56): sudo losetup -o $((56*512)) /dev/loop0 save.dd Now you should be able to use the partition. vesamenu.c32 + include + CLI woes
Hi all, In June 2007 Jerry Nelson started a thread on this mailing list about a problem he was seeing. The thread was http://syslinux.zytor.com/archives/2007-June/008673.html After several hours of searching through the list, I am still convinced that his problem was never solved and is very valid. I recently moved from the old syslinux config options model (all labels in 1 default config file)

Ugly menu/dialog font of applications, using debian sarge and wine 0.9.8 and 0.9.22
hello, I have a problem with an unsuitable font in the windows menus/dialogs with the above versions of wine (dont think this depends much on the versions, though. Have not tried other versions so far.) when using debian sarge. The font seems to look a bit ugly, usually destroys partly the menu/dialog structures, and, most important, has no German umlaut's (the diphtongs ae, oe, ue and
