RV: SAMBA & ISAM Databases
You were correct. The problem was with smbfs.
But now I have aproblem I didn`t have before: if a file is open by the
application in Linux I can not create new records thru the application
in Win. I can modify existing records but I can not create new records.
Any ideas

here's a fix for Goldmine (and other ISAM database based programs) on Windows NT/2000/XP clients talking to samba
Goldmine seems to a compiled database application compiled in something likeClipper.
Clipper applications record lock through ISAM like files (DBF).
However, in Windows NT/2000/XP, Opportunistic locking is turned on
by default in order to accelerate file transfer from file services.
[Windows 95/98 did not Opportunisticly lock]
However, opportunistic locking corrupts ISAM and ISAM like

SAMBA & ISAM Databases
I have a heterogeneous network with a R.H. Linux server running Samba
3.0.5 and various
Win clients (from Win 98 to Win XP Pro). On a Samba share I have an ISAM
database (Access, FoxPro etc. like)
that is being accessed by applications running on the Win clients and by
applications running in Linux.
I have disabled "opplocks" in both Win9x clients and on the Samba share.

Problems with fsck
Hi List,
i'd like to share with you what happened yesterday.
Kernel 2.6.36.1
ocfs2-tools 1.6.3 (latest).
I had an old OCFS2 partition created with a 2.6.32 kernel and ocfs2
tools 1.4.5.
I unmounted all partitions on all nodes in order to enable discontig-bg.
I then used tunefs to add discontig-bg, inline-data and indexed-dirs.
During indexed-dirs tunefs segfaulted and since then, fsck

[Bridge] Update OSDL/Linux-Foundation maintainer addresses
Hi,
I'm not sure if this is apprriate or not, but here goes anyway.
The patch below updates MAINTAIER address
Individuals (Only Andrew :): osdl.org -> linux-foundation.org
Lists: osdl.org -> lists.osdl.org
I assume the latter will change at some stage, but at least
with this change the osdl/linux-foundation lists are consistent.

dns entries look weird in remote administration dns tool
Hi,
On our samba 4 testserver we inserted the dns records from our dns
server using samba-tool. Everything seems to work ok but when I look at
the dns
entries with the windows dns remote administration tool it all looks
very weird. Here's an example:
This is the insert command:
samba-tool dns add samba4.example.com example.com www1 A 192.168.0.120
-U administrator
When I query the dns

Correct, resumable, large-file flags
Hello.
I'm a long-time rsync user, but I've encountered a case today and I
just can't seem to get rsync to do the right thing.
I want to mirror a directory A on server www1.example.com to a
directory B on www2.example.com. The directory A contains very
large but essentially read-only files. A server process on
www1.example.com periodically creates new large files and deletes old
