NOTE: BETA SOFTWARE, NOT FOR PRODUCTION USE Cluster File Systems is pleased to announce the next beta version of Lustre 1.6, which includes the following new features: * Dynamic service threads - within a small range, extra service threads are started automatically when the request queue builds up. * Mixed-endian environment fixes * Easy permanent OST removal * MGS failover * MGS proc files * Continuing patchless client improvements * Load generator - a server-side simulator for large numbers of clients is available under lustre/utils/loadgen for testing purposes. * See http://www.clusterfs.com/changelog.1.6.0.html for more. The new beta is known as 1.6beta7, (or internal version 1.5.97) Due to a change in the configuration log format, logs from earlier 1.6 betas should not be used. A "writeconf" should be executed (see the wiki) if upgrading an older 1.6 beta. Due to a wire protocol change, this beta will not interoperate with earlier 1.6 betas (but will interoperate with 1.4.x). (errata - the interoperability note in the ChangeLog incorrectly says beta8 instead of beta7.) RPMS and the source tarball can be downloaded from: http://www.clusterfs.com/download.html Please see the Lustre wiki for more information on how to use the new configuration system: https://mail.clusterfs.com/wikis/lustre/MountConf Thank you for your assistance; as always, you can report issues via Bugzilla (https://bugzilla.clusterfs.com/) or email (support@clusterfs.com). -- The Lustre Team --
