Fail to create OCFS volumn on the hard disk via a QLA2312 fiberchannel card.
/dev/rawctl is part of the "raw block device" driver interface. You need to turn on the raw device driver option (CONFIG_RAW_DRIVER) in your kernel build. I have always created a new file system from my 2.4 kernel (that has all possible modules built and properly configured to load when needed), so I don't know for sure if mkfs.ocfs will work correctly after turning on the raw

ocfs2 questions
We are in the process of upgrading to OCFS2. We have recently restored our Production Database to a Development platform configured with OCFS2 with RMAN. No problems. As for the Production migration, we understand that you cannot mount an OCFS volume (our current configuration) with OCFS2. We are interested in mounting an EXT3 file system, performing a cold RMAN backup, copying the datafiles

ocfs2 and device-mapper
Hello all, are there any issues concerning ocfs2 (v 1.2.3) and device-mapper-multipath-0.4.5-12.0.RHEL4? I've build a 4 node cluster with two ocfs2 mounts on /dev/dm-0 and /dev/dm-1. Under heavy load the nodes dies after about two minutes reproducably ;-(( Once I've loaded the ocfs2 modules it seems to me that both modules (device-mapper-multipath related as well as ocfs related) are

ocfs crashes client with multipath iscsi
Hi all, i am new to ocfs2. currently i am playing with ocfs on debian6 wich ocfs2 1.4. and also Oracle Enterprise Linux 5 & 6 with OCFS 1.6. The volume reside on an Dell MD3220i. When i set the active controller to offline, the client should initiate an failover to the second controller. this works, of only one clustermember is active for ocfs. At the moment there are two

Understanding debugfs.ocfs2 output
This is related to the "No space on OCFS2 volume" error discussed here this past Sep/Oct. Our Oracle support rep pointed us to Metalink note #1232702.1 and suggested we should script something up to periodically check the free contiguous blocks in the group chains for the volume in question. Reading the note, I get how to get Clusters per Group X Bits per Cluster from the "stat

Lost ocfs mount point on one node between two shared servers
Hello All, Is it normal to lose a shared node in OCFS shared servers? We have either lost the whole ocfs mount point or lost mount point on one of the shared nodes couple of times. Is this due to some misconfiguration? Thanks, Pratima Kalra (916) 795-3833 -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:

proc-37, installing 10gR2 CRS. /ocfs/ocr_disk1 is on FS type 1952539503. Not supported.
Hello, I am facing a problem during root.sh of 10g Release 2, on RH 4.0 update 1 + ocfs2. During the root.sh it reports the following error: PROT-1: Failed to initialize ocrconfig Failed to upgrade Oracle Cluster Registry configuration Looking to the created ocrconfig logfile we can see the following: Oracle Database 10g CRS Release 10.2.0.1.0 Production Copyright 1996, 2005 Oracle. Not able to see OCFS disk on both nodes
I have been trying to get OCFS2 set up on 2 linux boxes that I have so I can install RAC. What I want to do: Server 1 I have a 200G drive I would like to share with server 2. Install OCFS2 and run RAC using these two servers. What I have been able to do: I have been able to install OCFS2 successfully on both nodes. Define a partition on Server 1 disk and format it using OCFS2. Mount

I want to mount a san lun with ocfs (windows) on another host, not containing oracle ocfs services, which are installed during crs install with oracle installer. Upgrading ocfs2 when applying kernel patches.
I am in the middle of rolling RHEL 4 update 5 ( 2.6.9-55) through my servers. We use a development, QA, and production rollout. Unfortunately I have ocfs members in each of these groups that need to share filesystems. The network compatibility issues between ocfs2 tools 1.2.4 and 1.2.5 are causing the members to not be able to operate with ocfs. Hence this breaks my systems or causes me to

2 Node cluster crashing
Hi, We have a two node cluster running SLES 9 SP2 connecting directly to an EMC CX300 for storage. We are using OCFS(OCFS2 DLM 0.99.15-SLES) for the voting disk etc, and ASM for data files. The system has been running until last Friday when the whole cluster went down with the following error messages in the /var/log/messages files : rac1: Jul 7 14:56:23 rac1 kernel:

Problems building OCFS2
I also sent this to OCFS2-devel but no response so far. So... I noticed that OCFS2 got updated in the last few days. I just tried to do a build and got this: [root@linuxjohn2 trunk]# make make -C src make[1]: Entering directory `/root/ocfs2/trunk/src' make[1]: *** No rule to make target `inc/io.h', needed by `alloc.c'. OCFS2 and Cloning
I am working currently on cloning on a regular basis our production OCFS2 volumes to our test environment. For the database (Oracle 10G R2 RAC) we put it into backup mode, then execute a Snapclone on our 3Par SAN. Then we use RemoteCopy and SnapClone to our development 3Par SAN. To recover the OCFS2 volume I got through the following steps: Stop database umount /export/<volume name> Log

OCFS2 final on-disk format changes are going in
Hi all, We just finished up the last of the work to change the on-disk format of ocfs2 and we are about to move this from the branch into trunk in svn. We tried very hard to make every conceivable change that we would want in this last pass so that this would be the final on-disk change. What this means for any of you who are tracking this project is that you will need to reformat before picking

FW: Is OCFS 2 certified for Oracle Application Server Ver.10g
Hi, I would like to share a file system (OCFS2) in a shared disk in the SAN for Oracle application servers 10g to share same volume between all Oracle Application servers. I am not sure Is OCFS 2 certified for OAS 10g? I have been using OCFS 2 for Oracle RAC 10g Database which is certified. Pls give your suggestion. All servers are SLES 10 SP2 with Oracle Application Server 10g. Thanks

OCFS2 works like standalone
I have installed OCFS2 on two nodes SuSE 10. Seems all works superb and nice from the first sight. But, /dev/sda ocfs2 rac1 is not sharing through net (port 7777) with rac0. On both nodes I have 500Mb /dev/sda disks that are mounted (and are ocfs2). But they did not share the content with each other (files and folders in it). So when I am creating the file in one node I am expecting to

Quorum and Fencing with user mode heartbeat
Hi all, I read the FAQ, especially the questions 75-84 about Quorum and Fencing. I want to use OCFS2 with Heartbeat V2 with heartbeat_mode 'user'. What I missed in the FAQ is a explanation of what role in the whole OCFS system is taken by HAv2 (or other Cluster software) when using heartbeat_mode 'user'. 1) When is disk heartbeating started? (Mount of device?) 2) When is
