Using partials with Markaby
I''m trying to use a partial from within Markaby. I haven''t been able to figure out how to access a parameter passed into the partial. Here''s the code I''m using: h1 "Create a new note" if @note render :partial => ''form/errors'', :record => @note end ... (that snippet, as well as the partial is stolen shamelessly from Restolog

form_for not working with Markaby
I''m playing around with Markaby and I decided to write a little blog app. I''m running into issues with forms however. If I use form_for the output of the form gets swallowed. For example: form_for :article, @article do |f| f.text_field :title f.check_box :published f.text_area :description f.text_field :pub_date f.text_area :content end gets rendered as an empty form

Using the rails configuration outside rails
I have a ruby class that will be used sometimes from within rails, and sometimes from without (not in the context of a running rails application). It will reference models within the rails app, and It may be run manually, or may be scheduled via Cron (though I may look at RailsCron as well). I''ve seen help on the Wiki for using models outside of Rails (like this

TextDrive complaints
Hi all, I have deployed my Ruby On Rails application on TextDrive. At first everything seamed to be fine. However, lately, response time of my application is incredible slow. Worse, lately there is also a lot of downtime. I have contacted their support desk, however, they do not respond (at all, or very, very late). Has anyone else these experiences with TextDrive? And if so, what did you do

Read data from Excel
A client of mine has a ton of data stored in Excel spreadsheets. I''m building a web application for her (backed by a real db of course) and want to import all that data. Is there a library available to read data from Excel? Is there an easy way to upload the spreadsheets and then read the data? Thanks, Ken Kousen -- Kenneth A. Kousen, Ph.D. President Kousen IT, Inc.

Best Linux distibution for ruby on rails developement?
Hi, I am on Kanotix linux since the first distribution was released by Kano. However I am tired of the "if it can go wrong it will go wrong on Kanotix" pattern. Please recommend a distribution that by your experience is best for ruby on rails development and need no hour-long tweacks for even "simple" tasks. Thanks, Jan Martin -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

Moveable Type import question.
Hello RoRsters'', I''ve just started my first project with ROR, and frankly it''s pretty amazing, there are many things that still haven''t "clicked" for me yet but essentially it''s all coming together. My first project is a basic blog application to replace a current Moveable Type based blog. I''ve managed to get the basic functionality

POST vs GET
I read in the Agile Rails book that I should avoid GETs for destructive actions. I notice that on 37signals'' Backpack web site, deleting an item in a list is accomplished with a simple click on a picture of a trash can. Is this a violation of the POST/GET rule noted above, or is there some way to make a clickable link send a POST? Ben

Mongrel 0.3.13.3 -- Ruby Licensed Release
Hello Everyone, This is the official 0.3.13.3 release of Mongrel. Mongrel is now released under the *Ruby license* instead of the LGPL. I''m hoping this increases the adoption of Mongrel even further and hopefully I can start pushing to get Mongrel included in Ruby directly. INSTALL As usual, you install it with your friendly gem install method of choice: gem install mongrel Or

Excluding file systems from autorelabel
I'm trying to find a way to exclude file systems during the autorelabel process. I have a file system (/exports) that has tens of millions of files on it and I *know* I don't want it relabeled. I've tried semanage fcontext -a -t "<<none>>" "/exports(/.*)?" and it seems to insist on relabeling that file system. I also tried to see if there was a

generic onDragStart onDrag and onDragFinish events extracted from scriptaculous?
Hi folks. I''m working on a project where I need some drag and drop, but I need to implement what happens in a very different way, so I''m creating my own class for it. I don''t want to reinvent the wheel and redo Thomas'' excellent drag/drop functionality, nor do I want to copy/paste his code over into mine. So, I was wondering, has anyone tried to extract

user-defined columns
I am breaking ground on a new project and one of the issues I expect to encouter is the ability of users to define their own columns. For example, one of the features of this application will be the ability to store information about people''s skills and then search for and schedule them based on this information. Since every organization''s needs are different, it would be ideal

grub.conf corrupt in boot grub, fine in rescue shell
I'm trying to load CentOS 6.3 on a used server based on a Tyan Tomcat n3400b motherboard. The first 2 drives are configured as a RAID mirror in the BIOS and the remaining 4 drives are not configured but apparently still have RAID metadata on them. I hadn't yet figured out how to fix that but went ahead and loaded the OS on the mirrored set. After pulling out a drive from the unused

Hello, Using the LVM module/providers from the forge I want to create a logical volume at the maximum size and I cannot work out how to do this. physical_volume -> volume_group -> logical_volume -> filesystem -> mount All works fine but you have to hard code the size for the logical volume. Anyone know if this is possible ? Thanks Paul -- You received this message because you

OT: Asterisk and Mambo - help wanted
Hello everyone, So, this isn't exactly what it seems. I am not looking to integrate Asterisk and Mambo. I am the maintainer/creator of AstLinux, and I have recently decided that I should really have a better web site for it. I would like to use Mambo so that I can do updates easily, from anywhere, without having to waste time learning PHP/HTML/etc. Mambo CMS seems the best and most
