How to remove dangling menu items
I tried to test Wine for the first time, installing the only application that I already had an executable for, an old version of Seamonkey web browser. It installed ok, but when uninstalled, through wine, had some issues...first the unistall option did not appear in wine, but fixed that. Finally, when uninstalled Seamonkey, it left a second wine menu item in Gnome Applications menu. I have

problems with windows-lnk-files
hello, on Windows XP I created some directories and files - and some links (.lnk-files) to files and directories and saved them on a ntfs-disk. Now I want to use it in Debian (testing, Gnome) but the links won't work. When working in Nautilus 2.26..3 there just a little window appears telling me, that there is no application installed to view this file. If I want to "open with"

Wine menus - rebuilding, deleting
Hi I have a few questions about Wine's menu handling: 1. Is there some kind of command that will build a wine menu based on all the files in the standard locations (Start menu and Desktop)? This would be useful for rebuilding the Wine menu after deleting it. (Since deleting the menu entries belonging to a single prefix is not easy) winemenubuilder seem to take only single shortcuts as

Stopping "Open with" menu items from being created by wine
How do I stop "A Wine Application" from being added (sometimes multiple times) to my desktop environment's "Open With" menus? This is very annoying and I never want these items added for any file type. I really do not want to have to remove them after they're created, either. The few file types that I want opened by a wine program, I have added an appropriate menu

Remove uninstalled items from Wine Uninstaller
Hi all, I have a peculiar problem. I tried installing Microsoft's .NET Framework, and the install never completed. So I completely removed all .NET Framework installs using the .NET Cleanup Tool (http://blogs.msdn.com/b/astebner/archive/2008/08/28/8904493.aspx), which seemed to work. The only problem is that all the .NET Framework entries (including the language packs) for all the versions

Only partial installation? Context menu items missing :-(
Hi! I am very new to Ubuntu and thus also Wine. I installed, uninstalled and re-installed Wine a couple times while trying out Wine and some third-party apps like Wine-Doors. Now my trouble is... I just installed 1.1.16, but my context menu entry for Wine is missing. Moreover, when I now select "Open with other Application" from the context menu for a Windows app, Wine is not in the

Recovering Icons
So I upgraded my computer, and did a clean install of Ubuntu 9.04 To prevent myself from having to install all my wine apps, i just copied my .wine folder over to the new install. I should note that this worked like a charm and I thought it was too easy to be true at first. However, I am having the problem where I cannot find the icons for my desktop. I am wondering if these icons are stored

Smth. about "Icon=" option in .desktop files created by WINE
When I install some Win32 application using WINE, it creates associated menu item file for it, located at ~/.local/share/applications/wine/Programs/***Program title***/***Program shortcut.desktop***. Well, inside this file I see option named "Icon", where path to some icon is set. Sometimes this path points to some PNG image file, but sometimes it points to something I don't have a

Running Wine Apps From The Menu?
I read somewhere that directly running an app in Wine without first cd-ing to it's folder wasn't the best thing and that I should right a bash script to launch them if I don't wanna constantly cd to the right directory. Wine creates Shortcuts in the menu for me for all the apps I install through it. My question is, are these shortcuts the OK way to launch Wine apps or should I still

How does Wine extract icons?
I've researched on Google, Wine's wikki and Wine's forum, but I did not find how exactly does Wine to extract the icons from the exe binaries. The only thing that I've found are mentions to third party programs, but anything about Wine itself. May anyone bring some light about the subject? Thanks.

problem with scannedonly vfs
Hi, I'm using Samba 4.1.6 (version included in last Ubuntu LTS version). I've some directories in a share. One of them has an exe file. In root of my share I've a lnk file to this exe. So I've: /home/share/IntegrDom/IntegrDom.exe and /home/share/Install_Client_Scribe.lnk (which is a link to /home/share/IntegrDom/IntegrDom.exe). This point is important, if I remove this lnk

Wine Menu won't show!
Hello everyone. I started using Ubuntu 9.10 approximately a month ago, and decided to install Wine (using the apt-get command). Time later, I upgraded to the 1.1.31 release, and it used to work flawlessly, until today. I decided to uninstall and reinstall Wine in order to fix the problem (I had to delete the Wine folder manually from my GNOME menu), but after reinstalling, the Wine submenu

Uninstalled Programs will not leave the menu
Hello, I am having an issue. I can install and uninstall programs just fine using Wine, but when I uninstall programs, they still appear in the menu. Is there anyway to get rid of them? (They really get unslightly and they clog down my menu). Its not a huge problem, it doens't effect anything but how things look, but i would still really like to get rid of them. Any ideas?
