Wine HQ in Macosx
Hi
I started to work with a new platform: MacOSX Leopard 10.5.4.0 (coming from Ubuntu-Linux) and I tried to use Wine HQ with some XP programs that they worked successfully in Ubuntu with WH.
Now, actually, they work fine as well in MacOSX (so congratulations) however, I remember that in Linux I was able to create a link from my desktop to run directly the application and now I do not know how to

How does a noob have to uninstall Wine (on MacOSX)??
Hello,
I have tried to install Wine on my mac pro (leopard 10.5.6) but it did'nt work very well. When I wanted to run a windows applications, wine told me that I had to install Freetype 2.0.5 or later. I downloaded it from this website : http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=3157.
Unfortunately I didn't install freetype properly. As a consequence, when I try to run an

OT: Xranr support for MacOSX {was: Wine Window not Maximizing in MacOSX}
Note: This is somewhat related to Wine as fullscreen window support for X11 does not exist, at present, in the base X11 code. Many folks have posted threads asking why this is not so.
Bottom line: Without good xrandr support, there will NEVER be true fullscreen support nor the ability to open X11 sessions with sized windows without using the virtual desktop. This is sorely needed and

I agree that the MacOSX page needs a serious clean out, but I still would like the sticky on the forums as well. Never hurts to have two locations for the same information until xrandr support is

Trying to run Spelunky: OpenGL, Mac OS X and Wine
Hi. I'm an OS X user trying to run a freeware GameMaker game with Wine, and I'm running into some trouble. The game is called Spelunky (available here: http://forums.tigsource.com/index.php?topic=4017.0 ). Whenever attempt to run it with Wine, I come across a couple of errors:

developing unix application with wine under macosx
does anyone have experience with using wine to convert applications into native unix api. Especially on the mac operating system this would be very nice because all the unix executables are in a .bundle file. Even when I have taken them out I cannot use them because the design for intel macs is to use them as the are supposed to be used and not on a more unix/linux capable way.
Please this would

The place to put this information is the MacOSX wiki page, which looks to be sorely in need of updating. An experienced Mac user needs to do it. http://wiki.winehq.org/MacOSX

Wine and Mac Os X
Hi,
I would like to know which Windows-Software you managed to use with Darwine on your Mac. I don't have to and don't want to run many programs this way but for example, Trix did not work at all.
Thanks!

Running MacOSX as VM under CentOS 5.10?
Is it even remotely possible to run MacOSX (or Darwin) as VM under CentOS 5.10
/ xen? Or am I better off not even trying and just getting a MacMini or
MacBook to just jack into my LAN? I just need a 'build box' and possibly
something to do light testing (eg does the program run? Does the GUI come
up?). I don't really have the *physical* room for an iMac, unless the screen
is tiny.

[LLVMdev] Codgen for popcnt intrinsic falls over on MacOSX
I'm having a problem with the code generated for the popcnt intrinsic on MacOSX. The `llc` program will generate the assembly just fine, but the assembler fails with the error:
suffix or operands invalid for `popcnt'
The problem is that the mac assembler does not support length suffixes on the popcnt instruction (e.g. {w,l,q} suffixes). GCC handles this by not adding the suffixes to

How to use perl bindings for dtrace on macosx leopard ?
According to this page,
http://www.apple.com/macosx/technology/unix.html
In addition, Java, Ruby, Python, and Perl have been extended to support DTrace, providing unprecedented access for monitoring the performance characteristics of those languages.
When I do dtrace -l | grep -i perl on MacOSX 10.5.2. I don''t see any perl providers so I am not sure how I could monitor perl scripts via

R-2.3 macosx segfault
Dear all,
this is my first message to this list. I hope it is not off topic
(and should have been posted to R-help for example).
I have R-2.3.0 installed on a couple of systems, including powermac
G5, iBook G4 (both with MacOSX 10.4.6), windows xp and linux (kubuntu
5.10). When trying to install package aroma from authors web site I
found that R for macosx crashes with segfault. This

gdi32.dll error
Hello,
I encounter the same problem on MacOSX 10.5.6, either using X11
supplied with Leopard, or X11 2.3.3.2 (XQuartz) and Xcode 3.1.2. It
appears using Darwine 1.1.21 from Kronenberg, Darwine 1.1.7 from
thisismyinter.net, or the lastest wine-1.1.21, compiled from source.
The only way to use wine is to installed wine stable from MacPorts or
the Kronenberg's 1.1.21. Hardly, it

Installing rgeos on Mac OS X 10.4 (was Re: "package 'stringr' does not have a name space"
I figured it out, at least enough to get rgeos's gSimplify
function to work, which was my original goal; the stringr
problem was with 0.2, however I got stringr 0.5 to install
by changing the minimum version in DESCRIPTION from R2.11 to
R 2.10. ...
Thanks for the help!

Noob problems with Darwine
I've installed darwine 1.1.9 on my mac. I've read all of the tutorials and forums that I could find but I'm still not able to solve my problem. I imagine I must be missing something that's so obvious that it doesn't even make its way into a tutorial.
I can't run programs. If I start winehelper and try to run a program (say regedit.exe) I get the errors at the end of

Sipura-3000 Assistant for Asterisk on MacOSX? Well, maybe, with your help!
Hi
We are getting more and more email from Mac users asking how they can
connect their MacOSX based Asterisk server to a PSTN phone line. This
has led to two ideas ...
1) Mid term: set up a donation fund to sponsor the development of
Zaptel drivers for MacOSX
Note: if everyone who downloaded the Asterisk installation package for
MacOSX during the last two months since its release would donate

[LLVMdev] error compiling llvm 2.9/3.2 from source on macosx (possibly stdlibc++ issue)
I'm stuck on 10.8.5 and got around it by:
1. Building the most recent stable branch of libc++. I got a couple of
errors in the regression tests, but they looked like something obscure
enough to net affect the compiler and so far, that is panning out.
2. I ran configure as follows:
../llvm/configure CXXFLAGS="-stdlib=libc++
-I/Programming/llvm/libcxx34/test/support
