Licences
Hi,
I'm looking for a way to determine the licenses of packages we're using.
Is there a command (rpm, yum, up2date...) that will take the package
name as argument and return me the licence?
Or is everything included with Centos 4 GPL? That is the only licence
I found in the repositories... I remember that RH had the habit of
putting all the applicable licences on the

G729 - what happens if licences used up?
I haven't been able to find the answer online, and am not currently
able to conduct an experiment to find the answer...
I understand that in a SIP call where G729 has been negotiated as the
preferred codec, a G.729 licence is not consumed until there is a need
to perform transcoding, e.g. play a non-g729 sound, or do voicemail,
or enter a Meetme, etc.
What happens when a SIP call in progress

Zap channel(s), meetme and codecs/licences
Hi all,
Some simple questions about codecs:
What codec does the Zap channel use by default?
Can this default be changed, and to what? (g729 too?)
What codec does meetme use? (I think this is ulaw, but asking to be sure)
Can you use another codec, or does everything have to be transcoded to ulaw?
Finally ... if I have a 3way call going, between 1 g729 caller and two
other callers, do I need one

SAMBA and Windows 2008 TSE licence Server

I think my problem is due to my Windows Server is not an Active

Package Licences
Are there any particular licences under which R packages must be released or is
it the discretion of the author? The same question if the package is to be
destined for CRAN?
Kind regards,
Nathan

trying to understand OSS, GPL, BSD & other licensing model for software distribution.
Hi all,
We are busy developing some software (some is web based, others not)
and I am having a bit of hard time understanding (or rather, choosing)
a license model to work with, We will offer some free software (PHP
based scripts, and even Windows based applications) and for this I'm
sure the GPL, or even LGPL (for the network side?) will work fine.
But, we also need to suppose these

Licence for datasets in a R-package
Dear List,
I am building a R package which collects ecological data about plant
species from both remote (web) databases and locally stored rda files
(datasets): these "local rda files" are derived from publicly available
databases for which no "official" licenses are provided; I was told by the
creators of these databases that users can use such data provided that the

729 licence on scsi
I Purchased 4 licences for my SCSI only machine. I do have a CDROM -
with a mounted CD. The Registration binary gives me a 'Segmentation
Fault'. Is this like telling me I can't register the licence?
Unfortunately - I only seriously scanned the mailing list after buying
the keys....
Seems like the licence insists on using an IDE drive to create some sort
of unique serial number.. Has

Digium G729 licence unattended install
Hi,
One of the key features of Asterisk is that we can install it on many
hardware platforms.
We've done our best to script this installation process, so that, in case of
hardware failure, we can re-install Asterisk on another platform.
The question I have is how can we adapt our process so that Digium's G729
licences (or other licenced software) could be installed without asking too

licensing requirements for using the SWIG bindings
Hi,
I'm confused about my licensing obligation with respect to the Xapian
SWIG bindings.
I've got a python wrapper that sits above the standard Xapian
Python/SWIG bindings, and I wasn't sure if the *intent* of the Xapian
team is that my python wrapper - and any code that also uses my
wrapper also falls under GPLv2.
It seems unclear if the FSF's position on dynamic linking in

Starting * with G729 licences
Hi all:
I've just purchase some licences of G.729 codecs, and I like to bring up * using /etc/rc.d/init.d script.
Does anyone knows how to start in the "old" way?
Thanks in advance,

[ANNOUNCE] libxenlight
Hi all,
I am pleased to announce "libxenlight", a new small and lightweight C
library that refactors existing code in a coherent and easy to use API

as domain creation and destruction, suspend/restore and pci passthrough.
The goals of libxenlight are:
- be easy to use and to extend

Legal issues for non-profit radio stations.
Hi All,
Some time ago I emailed this list and mentioned (as well as a couple of
techinical queries) that I was trying to contact the PRS for information on
the copyright licencing requirements of a non-profit on-line radio station,
a few people expressed interest in this and asked I keep them updated. Well
I just sent my third email (transcript below) informing them that I will

Closed-source non-free ParallelR ?
Dear R-devel,
REvolution appear to be offering ParallelR only when bundled with their R Enterprise edition. As such it appears to be non-free and closed source.
http://www.revolution-computing.com/products/parallel-r.php
Since R is GPL and not LGPL, is this a breach of the GPL ?
Below is the "GPL and ParallelR" thread from their R forum.

Licensing Issue with JRI
Hoping someone can clear up a licencing question...
My understanding is that R is licensed under the GPL, with some
headers licensed under the LGPL (per COPYRIGHTS, so that R plugins
don't have to be GPL - arguably incorrect, but besides the point).
JRI states that it is licensed under the LGPL - but it links against R
shared libraries (or so is my understanding - please correct me if I'm

MIT vs GPL vs LGPL for open source project
I intend to release a project I wrote with Rails.
What is the right licensing scheme for a web application (content
managing system) which could grow with plugins and add-ons ?
Personally, I would prefer the GPL but does that mean any add-on to the
CMS (like task management) will have to be GPL ?
If some people contribute to the code could it still be double-licenced
so that the people who
