GSOC 2008 ELF Loader
http://syslinux.zytor.com/wiki/index.php/GSoC2008_Stefan_Announcements Has anyone used this successfully? I've spent days messing around with it. It has nearly a total lack of documentation and even after scanning source I've not had much luck. I've finally gotten it to load up, but even specifying its own test programs I get: Invalid ELF file version

Strange Fedora Booting problem: can not mount "LABEL=*"partitions
Hi, Stephen and Jeff, Thanks. But the problem got debugged&fixed, the answer was post on fedora-list about 2 weeks ago. The problem is: the /etc/blkid.tab file works as an old unappropriate disk partitions cache for fsck|blkid commands when stystem image is installed to a different arch (scsi->ide) machine, the old cache will mislead fsck|blkid at the first run and only the first run,

isolinux, extlinux and accented characters
Hello, First of all, thanks very much for this piece of software, it's working like a charm. I'm using it to boot a Linux distro I'm working on. What I want to deal with is the display of accented characters in ISOLINUX. First, I set EXTLINUX up to boot an ext2-formatted USB stick. No problem so far. I wrote a config file ordering to load a font (lat-9w) to display french

Hi, I'm trying to write an extremely dense tinc-mini-howto. You can see it at: http://keetweej.vanheusden.com/~folkert/tinc_mini_howto.html Please send me suggestions on how I can make things better and such. Oh, and if someone could tell me how to configure tinc so that it authenticates against the host on the other side, please tell me! (couldn't figure that one out) Folkert. Tinc:

Preview of SYSLINUX Dynamic ELF Modules Support
Greetings everyone, As my work on SYSLINUX as a Google Summer of Code student is approaching the deadline (only one week left), I would like to publicly announce the availability of a ready-to-test preview of SYSLINUX dynamic module loading support. Currently, SYSLINUX offers support for only loading one module at a time, represented in the COM32 format. This means that whenever another

Converting from isolinux to extlinux
Hi all, This maybe a newbie question in which case I apologise hugely. While I'm not new to Linux I am new to bootloaders :-/ I would like to install a custom CD distribution on a system via serial interface (that bit I can do) but the system doesn't have a CD-ROM drive! I'm trying to copy the ISO to the disk and boot from that. So far I have done this... - Net boot the system

My sincere apology
Dear Prof Brian Ripley: I am very sorry for that I use the unappropriate words "It's my great pleasure" when I read this mail again! I give my apology sincerely to you ,unreservedly and with my heart! You are such a warm-hearted man.And you help me to solve my problems. But owing to my poor English, I found I had made such a foolish mistake. My brain must have been stupid

SYSLINUX 3.80 released
3.80 is a bug fix and internal restructuring release. In particular, the entire shuffler subsystem has been rewritten largely from scratch, as has the Multiboot module. isolinux problem report
I have tried to use isolinux 2.05, and I am running into a problem where it will not boot. I have previously used version 1.66, and the older version works just fine. Changing nothing except dropping the new version in does not work. Below is all of the relevant info, I believe. This occurs on multiple machines with different BIOS. I am currently in process of doing a binary search to find the

Changing the ISOLINUX boot directory
I'm new to the ISOLINUX development cycle, and I've tried a few times to come up with a solution. I'm trying to recompile isolinux.bin to look for the config files in a directory other than root, /boot/isolinux, or /isolinux. Ideally, this directory would be /lpc/isolinux. I've tried changing the plain text values in isolinux.asm to reflect these changes and recompiling using
