Problems printing from Windows 2000
I run a small network at home, with a Linux server, which shares files and a printer. I also have a Linux PC (RH 9, KDE 3.1, CUPS 1.1.17) from which I am trying to share a Lexmark 3200 inkjet. Samba (2.2.7a-security-rollup-fix) seems to be generally configured OK - I can print to the Lexmark from a Windows 98 system, and from another PC running Mandrake 9.1. However, I am unable to print from two

Problems when using cupsaddsmb
Hi! First of all, I have to admit that it is my first post on this list, so please be lenied toward me, if I don't obey some of the rules ;-) I'll try my best :-) I am just trying to get my samba-server work as a print server by using CUPS. The OS of the server is Gentoo Linux and I'm using samba-3.0.9-r1. The clients are win 2k/xp home. I can already see my shares (files and

Lexmark USB Printer on Wine
I installed CUPS and I have Ubuntu 8.04. I try to install the Z1300 driver (.exe files) but I do not think that Wine is supporting USB and Lexmark printers, yet. Any Idea ? Thanks Mario G.

Printing NT to Linux printer problem
Using SuSE V8.0 Samba 2.2.7a on a small network I have a Lexmark laser printer attached to the Linux PC, using Cups 1.1.15. I was able to print from Linux OK, and some months ago had setup the Win NT PC to print across the network to the laser. So all was well. Recently I had a couple of problems with the NT machine (the usual BSOD's etc) also had a couple of problems with the SuSE PC

How do I stop the guest account printing?
Hi there. I've had Samba running fo a while now on a machine that we use as a shared file store. Not everyone who uses it has an account on the linux machine, so it's setup with "security = share" to allow guest access to some of the shares. But I've now attached a printer that I dont want guest access to. This might be something really simple that I'm missing, but I

printing from W98 to Samba/Cups
Hi Gang! I've recently set up a TAO Linux box, which has SAmba 3.0.2 and Cups 1.1.17. I have a Lexmark Optra Color 40 Postscript inkjet printer directly attached to the parallel port, and working. After considerable pain I was able to get XP Home to print to that printer (using the 15 step method, as the simple method kept refusing to work). Now I'm trying to get Windoze 98 to print to

I've always HATED printing with Samba
Primarily because I've never gotten it to work despite frequent efforts. Offeding printer is a Lexmark Z53 (supposedly fully supported) and when ever I try to add it to an XP box I get "Server doesn't have the right driver, do you wish to upload the driver?" then when I do it says "Cannot connect to the printer. Guest Printing Broke after upgrade from 2.28 to 3.010
I'm running a CUPS print server with SuSe 9.0 Pro with printers shared through Samba. I've recently upgraded from 2.28 to 3.010. My server is a member of an NT 4 domain. I run winbind to authenticate users to the domain; however, I also allow guest printing because many laptop users' machines are not domain members. There has been a change in guest printing behavior after the

Problem Running Printer, Can Wine Work for Original Drivers?
Hi, I have an old Pavilion 6535 running Puppy Linux Wary 5.0. I would like to install a Lexmark X2470 print/copy/scan gig on it. Problem is, there is no native driver to run it that I can find. Ordinarily I use Cups for printing and Xsane for scanning, but I can't get either of these to recognize this device. I was wondering if it was possible to use the original Windows driver package under

Recommendations for Lexmark Z11 driver install?
I've "inherited" an old Lexmark Z11 and would like to plug it in to my CentOS 4 box as a second printer. I shut down, hooked it up to the parallel port, rebooted, and hwbrowser recognizes it on /dev/lp0, so I ran through setting it up as a queue with printconf-gui. However, printing the test page fails because the renderer "lz11.foomatic" is not found (details below for

Printing Problems (Updated)
I have been struggling with samba and printing. My original post is at http://lists.samba.org/archive/samba/msg72613.html. I since then, I built a 2nd box, but this time it is a samba 3.0.0 box. The same thing happens on the 3.0.0 box. The update is that this occurs on the lexmark printer using the Lexmark Z22/32 drivers. If I use a HP driver or a different driver, the job goes to the queue,

Printing in Wine
So if Wine doesn't use Windows print drivers, if there is no Linux driver for my printer, I guess that means there's no way I can get Wine to print in Linux. (Stupid question, but I've been trying to find a work-around for the fact my Lexmark X125 has no Linux driver.) SJR

Samba and CUPS... Driving Me Psychotic
I have set up samba 2.2.2 (debian package 2.2.2-2, actually). Files are shared out (though Win98 doesnt like my valid users lines, a task for another day). However, it hits the fan when I try to share out my printer to my win2000 system (note: I can print from the server). Ive been through DIAGNOSIS.txt and the HOWTO collection, which didnt help, unless I missed something. Here are some relevant

All users able to access printer
Hi all, I have setup with linux samba-server(ver 2.2.1a) as my print-server under user security model with printer access allowed only for a few users. It's so happening that samba is allowing any users to fire print jobs on the shared printers, even those users who are not in the valid users list. However it is fine with normal shared folders ,where only the valid user are able to
