Civilization III: Complete on Steam won't run
I get the error message "Error loading font(Error code 13)!!" I tried copying LSANS.TTF from the civ3PTW folder into /windows/fonts, but that didn't work. I am running CrossOver Games (which uses Wine) and Steam to play Civilization III: Complete, which I downloaded through Steam. Help is greatly appreciated.

Steam not working on Debian 6
Hello.
On other thread I posted that I could not get Wine working on centos 5.5.
Well, I migrated to Debian 6 and got wine 1.3 working by .debs provided by winehq.
Now, I'm wanting to run Steam (www.steampowered.com) on Debian 6, but it is crashing with nothing. It just updates and then starts and crashes.
Here is the log:
root at ice:~/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/Steam# wine Steam.exe

Re: Steam Installation Errors
I have the exact same problem and I've tried the same things as the OP have. The links above didn't give me any answer on how to solve this.
Kubuntu 10.04-64
Intel E6300
6 GB RAM
ATI HD4850-1GB
Wine 1.2 and 1.3.5
Also tried in POL 3.8.3
Can anyone please help me on this?
I hate having to log into Windows to be able to play my games.

Question about Steam.
I am running wine1.3, installed from the winehq repo on ubuntu 10.10. I installed steam through winetricks, nothing else. After this i told steam to start installing civ V. And for some time it just downloader with 1.4mb/sec. then suddenly everything stopped... and all i could squeeze out of my connection was 150kb/sek.
Is there anything in wine1.3, or perhaps steam running under wine1.3 that

Steam (HL2) locks up on 64 bit Ubuntu
Yesterday I downloaded and installed the latest version of Ubuntu 8.10 64 bit, and after setting up my hardware I installed Wine 1.1.12, and have been working on getting HL2 running, but with little/no success. I got Steam installed, but when it opens none of the HTML pages render (saying "HTML is currently disabled."), and when I go to the My Games tab to have it download any of the

Europa Universalis III Complete Steam crash during startup
System: Dell Studio 15, wine 1.2, Ubuntu 10.04 64-bit (GNOME+compiz), ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470
I have all my favorite games up in wine now except Europa Universalis III. I have seen lots of posts by people who have made it worked, but even following all the steps on winehq I get a runtime error during startup while it says "Loading Sounds"
Here is wine's output for EU3:

I have tried multiple times to connect to steam without success after updating to 1.1.8. Internet connection works, as I can access pages in firefox, and steam is not down, as I can log in through a vm with no problems.
Currently running Ubuntu 8.10 with Wine 1.1.8
Any suggestions?

Force Unleashed and Steam won't run
It spent about 5 minutes doing the initial install (updating .NET) and now I get an error:
Code:
The program SWTFU Launcher.exe has encountered a serious problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
This can be caused by a problem in the program or a deficiency in Wine. You may want to check http://appdb.winehq.org for tips about running this application.

Steam problem
Hello folks,
I've a problem. I just installed Jaunty, and, thanks to Wine, the latest version of Steam.
But, after the installation, it doesn't open. It just stays in processes as "Steam.exe" @ sleeping.
Any solutions?
(I tried running it on both XP and Vista mode)

Trackmania through steam
I just installed steam+TMN and it seems to run quite well apart from sound.
I tried switching to OSS and got not sound while on ALSA I get the occasional "click" and thats about it.
Other software I have run through wine is WAR beta and WoW both of which play sound fine, so I suspect maybe Steam is holding up the sound device or something?
I am on Ubuntu Hardy. I also used winetricks

odd steam install location?
I am trying to track down a crash in Steam (Steam itself, not a game
through it). In following appdb instructions for Steam I realized that
it was installed in
/home/tparker/.local/share/wineprefixes/steam/drive_c/Program
Files/Steam/steam.exe and not in :~/.wine/drive_c/Program Files> where I
had expected it, although that second directory does have a
SteamInstall.msi sitting in it but

State of Steam Games
What is the current status of Steam games in Wine? Some people claim same or better performance than Windows and other say its much worse. At least with TF2, the game goes from great performance with decent settings in Windows, to barely playable with all settings on low in Wine. Can Steam games run well in Wine without having a machine so powerful it can overcome any software problems? Is there a

Hey guys,
Can anyone help me close the gap between my POL and Wine setups? I currently have a laptop running PlayOnLinux 3.8.8 and a desktop running only Wine 1.3.9 (Fedora 14).
As the subject read, the laptop with POL is running fine, but a generic install with the latest .msi file from the Steam website is not.
Steam on Wine, was able to run it's own autoupdate, but after that refuses
