"Unable to open file..."
I already have Wine working under Linux, primarily to run Quicken. I'm
trying to run TaxAct 2000, without success. Starting TaxAct, I get
the TaxAct splash screen followed by an error box stating
"Unable to open 2000 Tax Return File.ta0". The filename contains
whitespace as shown.
The debug message log shows an attempt to open the file:

I decided to give The Feb 2005 version of Wine under Fedora 1 a try

Wine seemed to install Tax Cut with out any problems.
However, when I tried to start Tax Cut 2004 , it complained that Mozilla did

Drake Tax Preparation Software
Hi,
I am new to using wine. I wanted to run our office's tax preparation
program (Drake). Using wine, I installed a workstation version of
Drake by running a program off the server, as has been done on the
windoze machines here. I can get the program to start (the console
shows "fixme:wininet: InternetGetConnectedState always returning LAN
connection", but I understand that this is

Treasury disconnects tax on long-distance calls

Future Tax Regression
Hi to all,
I'm trying to run a Canadian income tax program called FutureTax2010 (www.futuretax.ca) under wine 1.2 and 1.3 beta, but there appears to be a regression. It runs under wine 1.0.1, and loads OK under 1.3, but when I try to open an existing (known valid) file FT pops up a message box that says "An unsupported operation was attempted". A screen shot of the end result of

Installation issue?
Greetings from a noob.
I am having a little difficulty trying out Wine-20050111 on a fully
updated athlon fedora core 2 system and hope other wine users can help.
Review of the wine-users.pdf file included in the wine rpm and scanning
some of the wine-users mailing list archives have not pointed to any
solutions.

Working out sales tax...
Hi,
Having googled extensively about storing money in Rails, it seems to be
accepted that the best way is to store the prices etc in the smallest
part of the currency so that you can use an integer i.e ?20 would be
stored as 2000 pence.
This is fine and I''ve made a nice pretty wrapper that outputs the price
in the standard form for invoicing and what not - but here I''ve

A bug report?
Folks,
I have a strange situation, which I may have isolated as a bug
report. Or, it could just be that there's something about R that I
don't know. :-) I have attached the data file and the program file but
don't know whether these attachments will make it into the list. Here
is my bugreport.R program --

Need help running Windows tax application.
Which I cannot change, because it is the only one approved by our government (as in: "you can either use a licensed windows or you can use paper and pen to submit your tax report").
I first tried to install the app as normal. When hat didn't work, I used S?rgio Lu?s Lopes J?nior's iEs4Linux. Now that did work, but it ties me to IE's EULA, which would require me to purchase a

problems with "Save As" in BNA Income Tax Planner for Windows
Hi -
A client reported this morning that the "Save As" function in some tax
planning software they use "didn't work with the new server" (Samba 1.9.17p2
on intel/linux v 2.0.30). All client machines are Win95 OSR2.
Essentially, when you type a name in the save as dialog and press enter, a
backslash is added to the end of the new filename (in the dialog, that is),

image function with date-time on X axis
I am trying to plot a image where the x axis has the units of time.
When I issue the
image(x,y,z) command with x as a POSIXct object, it fails to put a
time stamp on the
x axis.
Instead I get a warning "Incompatible methods" warning and no dates on
my x axis.
This example shows my problem:

tax=seq(ISOdate(2010,4,14,12,0,0),
