Xen and VMWare Server co-existing?
Not that VMWare have released VMWare Server as a free product i''m
interested in using it where my hardware isn''t VT enabled to run
non-linux environments. Ideally I''d like to run it on the Xen Dom0
environment so that I can run a mixture of Linux DomU and Windows VMWare
instances.
Any ideas if this is feasible, and which version of Xen I should be
considering. At

VMWARE Player alternative
Thought I post this question here: Is there an open source alternative
to VMware Player. I know it''s a free product BUT would like to know if
there is any known other open source alternatives. Thanks in advance for
your comments!

LibVirt + QEMU & no-shutdown
I am currently running LibVirt with Qemu on Debian Wheezy:
Versions:
- libvirtd (libvirt) 1.2.4
- qemu-x86_64 version 2.0.0 (Debian 2.0.0+dfsg-4~bpo70+1), Copyright (c)
2003-2008 Fabrice Bellard
It's all working perfectly, including ACPI: virsh shutdown guest. However
when I issue "halt" from the guest, the guest stops but libvirt thinks it
is still running: (virsh list

[RFC, PATCH 11/24] i386 Vmi segment changes
Make the Linux kernel able to run at CPL 0, 1, or 2. There are a few
limited places where CPL-0 is assumed, and they can be converted very
efficiently into a supervisor CPL check instead of a CPL-0 check.
This step prepares the kernel for running in direct execution under
a hypervisor.
Note the user_mode_vm macro used in ptrace.h is very similar to the
flag mixing of EFLAGS and CS used to test

Processor usage of qemu process.
I have been using libvirt for a while now with some linux guest installed. And everything has been working great.
I've got a nice new (used) HP virtual host with 12 x dual core and 48Gb mem. My Windows servers are getting old, so I found it was time to take the next step and also virtualise my Windows systems.
Now I've got two Windows guests on my new host:

QEMU version in Xen
Hello,
I see that under tools/ioemu the VERSION file says 0.6.1.
This is the version number of QEMU.
I wonder:
Version 0.8.0 of QEMU was out in December 2005.
See: http://fabrice.bellard.free.fr/qemu.
Is there a reason for using an old version of QEMU ?
(which , if I am not wrong, was adjusted slightly to fit Xen needs)
Is there a real obstacle which exists in 0.8.0 (and does not exists
