how to borrow bandwith
Hi,All
I am using iproute2 to manage bandwith for ADSL router.High, medium, low priority are needed for different protocol port on the ADSL's upstream side,as following:
LAN --- |ADSL Router|------WAN
When there aren't traffic on the specific priority, its bandwidth should be borrowed by other priorities. But it doesn't work. Here is my script:
/usr/sbin/tc qdisc del dev nas0 root

[Bridge] BR2684-rt and brctl
Hello,
I am wondering if any of you knows how to add BR2684-rt nas
interfaces into a Ethernet bridge, I know that brctl will work with
BR2684-br, but not for BR2684-rt.
Many thanks!
Hai

Routing by interface as opposed to ip address?
Hello all,
Does anyone know of a methodology to build a route based on the inbound
and outbound interfaces as opposed to ip addresses? We are essentially
trying to forward packets from one interface to another without looking
at the ip address. Bridging (brctl, br2684ctl) will not work in this
case as the interfaces use different layer 2 encapsulation (e.g.,
atm0<=>eth0, or

Is it possible to shape variable bandwidth?
Hello LARTC,
Internet connection - ADSL, interface nas0 (115kbit guarantied, up to 1mbit possible. Depends on ISP load, impossible to guess).
Internal interface LAN, eth0.
Is it possible to successfully shape download traffic on eth0 using HTB?
Classes must have guarantied rate calculated from 115kbit possible rate (for example 3 classes) and the possibility to borrow up to 1mbit (depends on ISP

Kernel Packet Traveling Diagram
Hi,
I find this diagram which details the kernel packet traveling :
http://www.docum.org/docum.org/kptd/
Is it up to date ?
I made some test and I put a DNAT rules in the PREROUTING table of an
interface and I attach it a ingress policy, the dst IP wasn''t changed. the
DNAT it isn''t yet make.
I''ve another question (I''m not sure is it the good mailing list), for

Help about a QoS configuration
Hi, I would like to make a QoS configuration on a linux based dsl router. It
is for a server, so I want to shape outgoing traffic, incoming traffic
should not be a problem as long as I have a quite assymetric connection. I
would like to achieve the following goals:
1) To have one class (p2p) having all the available bandwith if there is no
activity on other classes.
2) If another class (ftp

Re: (OFF-TOPIC Interface question) Is it possible to shape variable bandwidth?
Hi people I''m new to the mailing list, but I''ll save my presentation
to another mail as I already have some strong questions. Now I just
faced this mail that arose me a question I had when "installing" my
qos.

Buffer in IceCast
Hi Maarten,
Yes, I'm behind ADSL with PPPoE but I don't think it is related with my
case. When my client disconnects from IceCast server for 15-20 seconds, my
active downloads are not interrupted. It currently effects only the route
to my IceCast server, other routes looks uneffected. I'm pinging IceCast
server continuously and checking trace route periodically. It is comething

Interleave cells with IP over ATM?
Anyone know if it''s possible to interleave two IP packets when using
PPPoA and VC based lines? Can it be done with any PPPoE implementations?
The goal is to reduce the delay when you have a high priority packet
waiting, but a lower priority (large) packet already started going out
ahead of this packet. I don''t want the overhead of much smaller MTU,
which is the other way

Buffer in IceCast
Hi Tom,
You might be right, but I don't get why my existing downloads (I guess they
are on different routes) are not affected. If my ADLS provider is doing some
IP adjustments (btw my IP is static) I expect everything to disconnect, not
only my icecast connection. So I'll monitor my USRobotics logs today and
tomorrow so see if there is something strange.

Buffer in IceCast
Hi,
Are you running behind an ADSL line? If so, what type of ADSL connection
(PPPoA, RFC1483 bridged), what type of router, etc.
Also the line quality (noise margin, line speed, rx/tx attenuation) may be
an important issue. If the line is indeed gone for 15-20 seconds, this
indicates a retrain/relogin of your connection. Maybe the logs from your
modem can tell you more about these outages.

Hi Taner
I doubt that the change of routes does not affect your connection, because
this is normal practise with carriers (BGP or least cost routing) and
usually it has no impact on the enduser, as it happens in milliseconds.
My personal thinking is, that your ADSL Provider disconnects you once or
twice a day to unload the DSLAM port and sometimes, if you do not have a
fixed IP address, you

T100P HDLC configuration
All,
I am trying to configure hdlc support on T100P Digium card - everything
seems ok... but it just does not work at all.
I was able to compile all drivers, the light on the card becomes green
when I plug T1 link.... but I even can't ping default router IP... there
is no data coming back to me, so I am confused completely now.
Also I tried both protocols - raw hdlc and cisco hdlc. The

[LLVMdev] generate a weird 'and' instruction
When I use the next code to print all the opcode name in a file xx.o whose
source file contains statements "if (diff != 0) klee_assume(diff>0)", then
an opcode name 'and' was printed. Where is the 'and' instruction from? I
checked the file xx.ll of xx.o and I didn't find a 'and' instruction of
these two statements.
Besides, when I commented out statement

Confidence interval for binomial variance
Based on simulations, I've come up with a simple function to compute
the confidence interval for the variance of the binomial variance,
where the true variance is
v = rho*(1-rho)/n
where rho = true probability of success and n = # of trials.
For x = # successes observed in n trials, p = x / n as usual.
For p < 0.25 or p > 0.75, I use the proportion-based transformed
confidence

How to make a network interface come up automatically on link up?
I have a recently installed Mellanox VPI interface in my server. This is
an InfiniBand interface, which, through the use of adapters, can also do
10GbE over fiber. I have one of the adapter's two ports configured for
10GbE in this way, with a point to point link to a Mac workstation with
a Myricom 10GbE card.
I've configured this interface on the Linux box (eth2) using
