Pinouts for T1/E1 crossover cable WAS "RE: what cable to connect a legacy PBX to a TE410P ?"
At Sangoma we do quite a lot of back-to back T1 and E1 connections. T1 is not a very fussy connection, as the baud rate is only about 750 kbps. In our experience, for error free communications you can use the following rules of thumb: Up to 50 ft: Flat patch cable Up to 500 ft: Ordinary twisted telephone cable Cat 5 may be overkill unless you are going hundreds of feet. Extending instance-methods of an Module for Plugin-Development
Don''t know if i should write this to rails or ruby mailinglist. But in the case i wan''t to extend the facebooker-plugin without touching it, i will here. 1. Instance-Methods of modules? The methods in a module may be instance methods or module methods. Instance methods appear as methods in a class when the module is included, module methods do not. Conversely, module methods may

VPN Single Daemon For LAN/WAN
Guus: Ok, I accept your challenge. But I am clueless in terms of getting the routing table correct. So each server has a dual identity, both a LAN private identity with a PRIVATE IP address and a WAN public identify with a PUBLIC ip address. And how to have 2 different tun devices show up in the ifconfig -a so that LAN IP address can be assigned to the tun0 and a WAN IP address can be assigned

IPSEC, multiple subnets and multiple road warriors, oh my! :)
Hi all, I''ve been using Shorewall 1.42 for a month on two firewalls at work and my own personal colocated server and love it. While pretty familiar with iptables, I don''t like dealing with it on a daily basis, and Shorewall certainly makes life easier. I''ve deployed Shorewall on both our Toronto and Ottawa office firewalls, and have configured a FreeS/WAN IPSEC

Questions regarding architecture of a server-based image-processor deployed in ROR
Hello, I''m planning to deploy a hybrid 2D/3D visual fx and image manipulation engine as a server accessible via the Web. So you can send Flickr images to it for all manner of image trickery. My engine uses a little text-based language I devised that is parsed and a resultant image produced. The UI for this service collects the input image and associated params and passes the collection

VPN Single Daemon For LAN/WAN
Gus: I guess my primary point of confusion is that the non-vpn LAN ip addresses are duplicated in each cluster. So within a cluster, the LAN addresses are unique. But when you look at 2 clusters, 2 different servers share the 10.99.0.11 address. So that is why I created a VPN for inside the cluster on the LAN interfaces using the private 10.0.1.xx range. THen, I created a separate VPN on the

Which MTA for a personal-use dovecot instance?
I'm planning to deploy a personal dovecot IMAP server (i.e. I am the only user) in a FreeBSD jail. At present, I have IMAP deployed on the same host as one of my mail servers, which is running Postfix. I do like Postfix, but it seems to be a bit overkill for this particular situation. All my incoming MX are provided by Google. They handle the incoming mail and forward to my private MX,

Two-way linear model with interaction but without one main effect
Hi, I know that the type of model described in the subject line violates the principle of marginality and it is rare in practice, but there may be some circumstances where it has sense. Let's take this imaginary example (not homework, just a silly made-up case for illustrating the rare situation): I'm measuring the energy absorption of sports footwear in jumping. I have three models (S1,
