Dovecot and CRAM-MD5 authentication (brief) HOWTO
Hi all, I just finished configuring CRAM-MD5 for Dovecot and noted there were not a lot of resources out there that described the process. I've written up a rough and brief HOWTO at: http://www.kartar.net/weblog/cram-md5-authentication-with-dovecot/ Comments welcome and hope it helps someone. Wiki language issues
Hi all It's morning and I haven't had coffee but has anyone else noticed that the Wiki seems to have changed languages from English to Russian in sections? http://wiki.dovecot.org/FrontPage It appears a user has made some edits to a couple of the pages and 'translated' them. Node and Class unique naming
All I am doing some testing and have a quick question. Do class and node names have to be unique? I define a node: node test { include test } and a class called test. When I run the test node and connect I don''t get an error but no configuration is applied to the node. Is this normal behaviour or a bug? If it''s normal behaviour should Puppet tell you about the

[Puppet-dev] 0.23.3 release
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi all There is some discussion of doing a 0.23.3 release to backport a number of bugs fixes from 0.24.0. What do people think of this idea? Would you prefer a dot upgrade to 0.23.3 or are most planning to upgrade cleanly to 0.24.x? I understand from Luke that 0.24.1 will be released shortly and that 0.23.2 clients should cleanly connect and

"Not connected to database" MySQL errors
I've been in the process of moving my pop3 proxy over to the dovecot proxy. I have a ton of users using pop3 still, and am seeing these errors popup within a minute or so of the connection to the database: Password query failed: Not connected to database Eventually the auth-worker will reconnect to the database and things will go on normal for another minute or two, then the same issue

determining connection type/port in logs
Is there a way to configure logging to indicate what connection type was used to authenticate? I'd like to be able to tell from the logs whether the user used STARTTLS on port 143 or an SSL-wrapped connection on port 993. Using RC15 with auth_verbose=yes gives us the following log entries during login and logout (lines wrapped for convenience): # login port 143 with STARTTLS: Jan 3

file descriptor leak?
We are having problems with the latest Dovecot 1.0 (RC15) regarding file descriptors > 255 being handed off to fdopen() via crypt() via PAM(?). This is a problem on Solaris 10 due to the fact that the stdio library does not support file descriptors > 255 (in order to remain binary-compatibile with older binaries). Here are the messages we run into if we get too many (~250?) concurrent

MANAGESIEVE patch v7 for dovecot 1.0.3
Hello dovecot users, I have updated the MANAGESIEVE patch to fix a recently reported problem. This is a patch against the latest stable release 1.0.3. It currently won't compile with 1.1 due to significant changes in the master code. Change Log V7 ------------- - Robin Breathe indicated that the regex capability was missing in the server's SIEVE listing. It turns out I forgot to
