[ rc28 ] dict{} seems to be ignored
Hi all,
I'm new to the list, so ... hello everybody :-)
Let's go to the point... I'm implementing quota over imap support in my
mail server, so since a number of days I'm tring to upgrade to the new 1.x
version (debian sarge) ...
After having a number of troubles using the debian backport packege I am now
using the -rc28 package that I have built by myself...

Dovecot deliver agent - dovecot.conf permissions
I started playing with deliver, and saw a permission error in the logs
for dovecot.conf. Under my distro install, /etc/dovecot.conf was
installed owner/group root, with only user rw rights. I added "other"
read privileges and deliver is happy - is this necessary?

message-of-the-day feature?
For lack of a better name, we are interested in a feature where one could
get a notice out to all Dovecot users as quickly as possible, possibly
without going through an MTA even. Given a message and a list of userids
we could certainly do a mailing on the MDA server itself going through
both Postfix and Dovecot LDA. However, we were wondering what other options
we might have in Dovecot. For

Version numbering
After v1.0 is released, I can finally get back to sane version numbers.
But any comments on which one is better:
a) Postfix-style: "1.1.UNSTABLE.YYYYMMDD" -> 1.1.0 (stable)
b) Odd-even numbering: 1.1.x (unstable) -> 1.2.0 (stable)
With a) style the releases could be done by simply copying a nightly
snapshot to releases/ directory and announcing the changes since the

overquota message
Hi,
is it possible to customize the overquota message ?
I'd like very much if it was possible to use the %d in the postmaster mail
address (and overquota message) too ... in virtual domain environment it is
very likely ..
thanks in advance

v1.0.0 released
http://dovecot.org/releases/dovecot-1.0.0.tar.gz
http://dovecot.org/releases/dovecot-1.0.0.tar.gz.sig
It took almost 5 years, but it's finally ready. I'm not expecting to
release v1.0.1 anytime soon, unless someone's been sitting on a major
bug just waiting for v1.0 to be released. :)
People wanting new features should start testing the upcoming v1.1.

Bug-report for rc28: Mailbox isn't a valid mbox file
Hi,
When I try to open the attached mbox file I get the following warning in
Thunderbird 1.5.0.10:
'The current command failed. The e-mail server responded: Mailbox isn't
a valid mbox file'.
I also tried this with squirrelmail, with the same result.
The Dovecot version is dovecot-1.0.rc28, compiled from source. The
attached mbox was correctly read from, and written to in earlier

NHW v0.3.0-rc28 new version
Hello,
Ultra quickly, for those ultra interested, I have released the NHW
v0.3.0-rc28 new version.
I continue to fine-tune the nhw_kernel weights. This new version seems then
to have more precision and a better visual quality.

MANAGESIEVE patch v4 for dovecot 1.0.rc28
Hello dovecot users,
I have updated the MANAGESIEVE patch to fix the currently known small
problems with the protocol implementation. It is designed for rc28, but
also compiles cleanly with the current cvs branch_1_0.
Change Log V4

mbox sync/lock issue, rc28 and later
Help!
I just noticed this error this morning, we have been getting a
lot of these in rc28 and rc29, not in rc27 or before:

1.0.rc28 / v1.0 plans
I'll probably release 1.0.rc28 in a few days. Would be nice to get some
testing for it first. http://dovecot.org/nightly/dovecot-latest.tar.gz
contains pretty much what it's supposed to be.
I've now replied to all the mails I was planning on replying, excluding
the few patches that are v1.1 material. If you think I forgot to reply
to some mail, please resend it.

MANAGESIEVE patch v3 for dovecot 1.0.rc28
Hello dovecot users,
I have updated the MANAGESIEVE patch to apply and compile against
dovecot 1.0.rc28. Not much has changed with respect to the functionality
of the previous version however:
ChangeLog vs v2
- Updated source to compile with dovecot 1.0.rc28, tested with rc27
(debian package)
- Daemon now uses the same location for .dovecot.sieve as dovecot-lda

Problem with Quotas
Hi,
I am using dovecot 1.0.10 and using passwd-file as userdb. I have
enabled quota plugin in /etc/dovecot.conf.
Extra fields are added into userdb.
user1:X:500:500:User1:/home/user1:/bin/bash:userdb_quota=maildir:storage=1024
Location of the inbox is /var/spool/mail/user1
I dont think this is working. The user already have 5MB in INBOX and
if I send a new mail, it is being delivered.
