Duplicate E-mail Problem
Hello all,
Definitely congrats on the 1.0.0 release!
Anyway, I'm having a problem, that may or may not be related to
Dovecot. Specifically, duplicate (and sometimes triplicate) emails are
appearing. These emails have exactly the same queue ID, so its not that
they were sent multiple times. These dup emails do not show up to me ever.
Postfix is being used as the SMTP, and it hands it

Dovecot and Outlook - IMAP Timeout error
Hey guys,
I'm having a problem with Dovecot and Outlook. I'm testing with Outlook
XP (2002), but the problem occurs with Outlook 2003 as well. I'm using
Dovecot 1.0.rc28.
The specific error generated (for IMAP) is:
"A connection to the server could not be established. <servername> is
now in offline mode."
In the details:

1.0.rc28 / v1.0 plans
I'll probably release 1.0.rc28 in a few days. Would be nice to get some
testing for it first. http://dovecot.org/nightly/dovecot-latest.tar.gz
contains pretty much what it's supposed to be.
I've now replied to all the mails I was planning on replying, excluding
the few patches that are v1.1 material. If you think I forgot to reply
to some mail, please resend it.
I think the

MANAGESIEVE patch v4 for dovecot 1.0.rc28
Hello dovecot users,
I have updated the MANAGESIEVE patch to fix the currently known small
problems with the protocol implementation. It is designed for rc28, but
also compiles cleanly with the current cvs branch_1_0.
Change Log V4
-------------
- Added managesieve_implementation_string setting to the managesieve
configuration. This can be used to customize the default

MANAGESIEVE patch v3 for dovecot 1.0.rc28
Hello dovecot users,
I have updated the MANAGESIEVE patch to apply and compile against
dovecot 1.0.rc28. Not much has changed with respect to the functionality
of the previous version however:
ChangeLog vs v2
- Updated source to compile with dovecot 1.0.rc28, tested with rc27
(debian package)
- Daemon now uses the same location for .dovecot.sieve as dovecot-lda

mbox sync/lock issue, rc28 and later
Help!
I just noticed this error this morning, we have been getting a
lot of these in rc28 and rc29, not in rc27 or before:
Apr 6 07:22:52 karst dovecot: [ID 107833 mail.error] IMAP(jaearick): mbox file /var/mail/j/jaearick was modified while we were syncing, check your locking settings
Pine coughed up an internal error, no core dump, and dovecot

Still a bit more fixes. My coding TODO list is again empty. Unless
something special happens in the next few weeks, I'll still make rc29
with the documentation included and v1.0 will be released April 13.

Why do you think you should be seeing folders for every single day?
Do your users create a new folder each day and migrate mails in there?
Do you have a sieve script that is filtering incoming mail into daily
folders?

rc28 : can't set quotas with userdb + passwd file
I'm using dovecot 1.0 rc28 - great software!
I have a virtual hosting setup, with passdb and userdb both using a
passwd file.
I cannot get per-user quotas put in the relevant field of the userdb to
work. They appear to be completely ignored; only the setting
from /etc/dovecot.conf is applied.
Can anyone confirm that this is working for them? If it is, can you post

New mail not appearing consistently in Outlook 2003
Hi all,
I have continuously experienced a new mail not appearing problem in Outlook
2003 on Windows XP. Using Dovecot 0.99.14 on Debian Sarge and now in 1.0rc26
and rc27.
The problem exhibits itself as:
Some new mail is randomly(?) not shown in my mailbox. More new mail does
appear, so it's difficult to know when a message has been missed. If I
restart Outlook the missed new messages will

User Favorites
Hi there,
I''m currently creating a simple (at least so I thought) structure of
user favorites. Basically users can add certain ''objects'' to their
list of favorites.
Here is my current structure (simplified)
class User
has_many :favorites
end
class Book
belongs_to :favorites
end
class Favorite
belongs_to :user
has_one :book
end
The table favorite just has a two

Your "favorite" Asterisk application.
Hi, all. I've done some Asterisk recelling, but recently got roped into a
Sr. SysAdmin position. Our PBX is c. 1823, and -- well, as pretty much
all circuit-based systems do, it sucks. It sucks to administer, moves
suck... you know the drill. So, I'd love change to an Asterisk system.
My boss, who loves to spend money for no particular reason, wants to go
proprietary, though. So

Thunderbird Subscription missing
Still not quite got my head around what you are expecting to see.
Presumably folders for other dates in September. Depending on how and
why those folders were created they may not exist.
I do note that you used an ls to show the folders, and I'm assuming from
the config below you are using Maildir, so try an ls -a to show the
hidden folders too (those starting with a .). This should show you

Lock file issues
First off, just want to say Dovecot is great! We have been using it for
several months now in a fairly large installation with only a few
problems.
We are running 1.0.rc28 on three servers with 3 Horde/IMP boxes talking
to Dovecot. The user's home dirs are located on an NFS server
and the indexes are stored in their Maildirs. I have mmap_disable=yes
and lock_method=dotlock in dovecot.conf.

'Bind'-method authentication for LDAP
Has there been any thought given to implementing authentication via an
LDAP 'bind', rather than by a password lookup and hash comparison? doing a
bind would obviate the need to make the passwords readable by the dovecot
process and would lend itself to improved security.
