syncing imap servers with imapsync
hello list,
I am attempting to sync two imap servers using the imapsync perl script. It seems handy and easy.
Here's what happens when I try to do this:
#
# Postfix master process configuration file. For details on the format
# of the file, see the master(5) manual page (command: "man 5 master").
# -o smtpd_sasl_auth_enable=yes

Post login scripting and imapsync on user login
Did anyone set up the enviroment in dovecot with post login scripting in
which imapsync does sync between two mailservers on users login (on login
sync mail from old to new mailserver) is there a alternative or different
approach?
something like
#!/bin/bash
/usr/bin/imapsync --syncinternaldates --nosyncacls --authmech1 PLAIN --host1
old.server.com --user1 $USER*master --password1 master

Mail migration troubles
Hello all,
OK, I would really appreciate your help on this.
I managed to do a pretty straight-forward and flawless migration
on dovecot from one domain to another.
However, I have this nagging problem with most of the thunderbird
MTAs. When I try to delete some "test" messages I sent to make sure
that everything works, it comes back with the following message on

1.0.1 release candidate 3
http://dovecot.org/tmp/dovecot-1.0.1rc3.tar.gz
Looks like I managed to do a lot of changes today. So I'll wait a few
more days before v1.0.1 release. The important changes since rc2:
+ deliver: Added -e parameter to write rejection error to stderr and
exit with EX_NOPERM instead of sending the rejection by executing
sendmail.
+ dovecot --log-error logs now a warning, an error and a

Sorting order after mail move
Hi,
when I move some recent mail from some mbox folder into Maildir folder
the moved email sorts as the first (on top) in the folder while it
should be on the bottom with the rest of the recent emails in the
folder. This happens only when moving from mbox folder to Maildir
folder. I am not sure if it is really Dovecot bug or not but I suspect
it could be so because it only happens in this one

Hi All,
While copying 9360 messages from a local folder to a folder on the imap

at message 5792 the client shows the following message from server:

Outlook 2003 and Thunderbird IMAP + getting new headers
Hi,
We run 1.1.3 and I use Outlook to connect to my IMAP box and a couple of
times per day (randomly) when I click certain folders IMAP will start
retrieving ALL headers for that folder again ('retrieving new headers')!
I don't understand this. What triggers IMAP to do so, why not just retrieve
only the NEW headers?
Is it Dovecot or Outlook (probably) and what can be done

Wrong dates in Outlook
Hello,
We're migrating from Ipswitch Imail to Dovecot. There seems to be a
problem with Outlook after converting the emails with mb2md and whole
bunch of perl scripts to correct all the idiotic mistakes that Imail has
made. Outlook will display the date and time of the conversion as the
date of the message, rather than using the Date: header. The same does
not occur in Thunderbird or

Does a script exist to fix broken maildir timestamps?
Hello,
When I upgraded to dovecot (changing servers at the same time) in
November last year I copied the maildirs from my old server without
using the -p option to preserve timestamps! Since my mail client
displays the email dates based on the Date header rather than the imap
"internaldate" I didn't notice the problem until today when I tried to
migrate an account to gmail using

Outlook 2013 not fetching new mail/synchronization issues
Hi all,
Dovecot 2.2.10 CentOS 6 64 bit.
We are having terrible synchronization issues with Outlook 2013 (all
updates) on Windows 7 SP1 and 8.1 hosts (all updates).
Scenario:
1. Emails were sent since user closed Outlook
2. Next day: start computer, open outlook
3. No new email (even though email were sent overnight)
4. half a day later Outlook fetches

Outlook 2013 not fetching new mail/synchronization issues
Hi all,
Robert, Jerry,
There were new emails overnight and both Thunderbird and Roundcube displayed
them.
I enabled Outlook debug mode and please find 2 logs of Send/Receive with no
new emails.

v1.0.0 released

http://dovecot.org/releases/dovecot-1.0.0.tar.gz.sig
It took almost 5 years, but it's finally ready. I'm not expecting to
release v1.0.1 anytime soon, unless someone's been sitting on a major
bug just waiting for v1.0 to be released. :)
People wanting new features should start testing the upcoming v1.1.

Lots of small fixes.

to bounce the mail (this is how it was supposed to work earlier too)
* deliver: %variables in mail setting coming from userdb aren't
expanded anymore (again how it should have worked).
