License of the nutshell package
Hello,
I wish to package the nutshell package. I need help to understand which
license is relevant.
The upstream page at
http://cran.r-project.org/web/packages/nutshell/index.html says
that the license is "file LICENSE".
This is further explained at

With the help of the Ruport community, we''ve refined the book over the
last few weeks to meet the needs of our users. We think it will be a
great help to anyone trying to learn how to do reporting in Ruby /

Open Source in an Economic Downturn: Asterisk stories needed
I'm giving a talk at SCALE 2009 (Southern CAlifornia Linux Expo) on
Sunday in Los Angeles, and the topic of my talk is "Open Source in an
Economic Downturn". I've got lots of talking points for this talk,
but it would be interesting to hear some short anecdotes about how you
in the Asterisk community are thriving, or at least surviving, by
virtue of the benefits of

Doc for the Wiki
I've modified/updated an existing HowTo (for RHEL) I found on the net
detailing how to install the following on a "virgin" CentOS 5.1 install:
Python 2.4.5
Python Imaging Library 1.1.6
Zope 2.10.5
Plone 3.0.6 Content Management System
Do I just email it to this list? It's about 6 pages long.
Cheers,
Chris

iptables article for Wiki
Hi List,
I have been asked in this thread if I would contribute an article on
iptables to the Wiki:
http://www.centos.org/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=10240&forum=37
The article would be based on a tutorial I have previously written here:
http://forums.pcper.com/showthread.php?t=432469
I'm not sure where the article should best go so leave that to your
discretion. If you

Poll for new default website style
Hi everybody,
after looking a bit around the Internet and checking which website
style some users of webgen are using, I found that many people just
stay at the default webgen website style (which is not really pretty ;-)
So, I''m thinking about changing the default webgen website style to
something more Web-2.0-ish, and I would like to know if there is a
particular website style

HowTo Document - Installing Nagios on CentOS 4x/5x
Hi. There's a note on this document (http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/Nagios) that it appears to be abandoned and unmaintained. Since I'm working through the document to install Nagios, and taking fairly extensive notes on the process, I would like to bring it up to date. But, since I've not worked on an open source documentation project before, I'm not sure how to proceed. Basically,

Documentation link on new Firefox CentOS 7 splash screen
Just my two cents: Anyone thought of asking Red Hat to use documentation? I think they are getting much from the community so to copy public accessible documentation when permitted by RH could be an easy way.
Why not giving that a try?

AFAIK, under US law, the only way for something to fall in the public
domain is for either 1) the author to be an employee of the US
government or 2) the author to be dead for more than X years (X being
larger than the age of Mickey Mouse). To the best of my knowledge (did I

Proposal for Discussion: LICENSE and COPYRIGHT tags on Vorbis Comments
Hello all,
It has come to my attention in a rather unfortunate chat that some
artists do not use Vorbis (or FLAC) because they offer no standard way
to put a license into it. In an age of Creative Commons and
Copyright-awareness this is a valid concern, although I'm not sure how
those artists work with MP3's ID3 in a standard way, considering all
the hacks floating around.
Anyway, Ogg

Wiki license, again
and this time with a decision, please.
Hi,
I just had a talk with someone on IRC who wanted to reuse stuff from
<http://wiki.centos.org/MarketingMaterial> and asked me about the
licensing of content on there.
Which made me think "Well, let us restart this discussion again". We
*do* need a license for content on the wiki. The three licenses we're
favouring (well, sort of)

limit on the number of NICs per domU
Hello,
Xen FAQ states that there''s a limitation of 3 virtual network interfaces
per domU:
http://wiki.xensource.com/xenwiki/XenFaq#head-9896478cf65a16f43ab4fb066f74c0e0d67a16ac
My question is: is there any way (like setting some #define or something
in the sources) to rise this limit to 4 or 5? Why is the limit set to 3
actually?
I tried to google, but I couldn''t find any
