Problems Converting from Cyrus to Dovecot (cyrus2dovecot)
v2.2.19 has many fixes related to dsync+imapc, which were found while migrating several million users from GMail. I'm not aware of any problems with it now. Also even before v2.2.19 dsync+imapc has been used to successfully do many large migrations. > On 26 Nov 2015, at 17:49, FUSTE Emmanuel <emmanuel.fuste at thalesgroup.com> wrote: > > Hi, > > No, I tried fetching

Support of client specific flags?
Gnus use a lot of custom flags to represent the messages state wrt. Gnus. How well are these flags supported in dovecot? How fast are access to them? (Ie. will dovecot have to open the message and parse the headers) Are they supported when using imapsync to transfer messages from a different IMAP server? (I guess I'll find out soon, because I'm using imapsync to transfer messages

Problems Converting from Cyrus to Dovecot (cyrus2dovecot)
Hi, With imapsync you will lose message UIDs which means that IMAP clients need to clear their local caches and redownload all messages. Why not use dovecot dsync over imapc instead? It tries to preserve UIDs and Flags. http://wiki2.dovecot.org/Migration Sami > On 07 Nov 2015, at 23:35, Forrest <those.lists at gmail.com> wrote: > > Thank you for the reply. I did find imapsync

Problems Converting from Cyrus to Dovecot (cyrus2dovecot)
Hi there, I was in the same position, but for mutliple accounts. Still you might want to look at imapsync (https://github.com/imapsync/imapsync), isync and offlineimap. There are more alternatives listed at the imapsync homepage. Problems Converting from Cyrus to Dovecot (cyrus2dovecot)
Thank you for the reply. I did find imapsync whilst perusing Google. I will give it a shot, it sounds more realistic/reliable. I have a hoard of emails going back to 1999, so I want as few errors as possible :) On 11/7/15 3:31 PM, Philon wrote: > Hi there, > > I was in the same position, but for mutliple accounts. Problems Converting from Cyrus to Dovecot (cyrus2dovecot)
Hi, No, I tried fetching over imapc too exactly as you suggested. In my case it was not from cyrus, but from CriticalPath. isync was finally able to do the job, preserving flags and doing UIDs mapping. The most boring part was generating proper config file for thousands of accounts. A working imapc/dsync would have been better. Emmanuel. Le 26/11/2015 15:24, Sami Ketola a ?crit : > Hi,

Problems Converting from Cyrus to Dovecot (cyrus2dovecot)
Hello, Because it did not work ? In a similar situation, we where forced to use isync/mbsync in imap to imap mode because dsync did not work. It was reported here more than a year ago (May 2014). Time to time, I see the same report from other trying to use dsync to do a migration to dovecot. Dsync is a very appealing and elegant solution to this usage, but it does not always work in real

Complete migration from Cyrus on remote server
Hi All! I am working on a complete migration from an old solaris machine running Cyrus IMAP v2.3.14 and wish to migrate all users to a new ubuntu vm running Dovecot 2.0.19. What I have so far is a fully functional dovecot installation with LDAP / Dovecot SASL auth using Maildir++. My plan is to use Perdition IMAP proxy on a third host and migrate users a few at a time (see attached picture of

Cyrus MailDir to Dovecot mbox
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Anyone out there know of a tool that can convert a Cyrus MailDir format to Dovecot mbox? I have a user that I need to move over from a mail server running cyrus using MailDir format. At first I told him to setup second account with Thunderbird to our mail server and then use Thunderbird to move the messages over. But he has over 100K messages so

Problems Converting from Cyrus to Dovecot (cyrus2dovecot)
I have been attempting to use the cyrus2dovecot script, to no avail. I have many years of content that I want to convert from Cyrus to Dovecot; with the above not working, what are other options out there? Another idea I had is simply set up another IMAP server (using Dovecot) and drag-and-drop and just wait, which I may end up doing. In the above, I copied over my entire /var/imap and

cyrus2courrier mass migration
Hello, So we've chosen to use dovecot as our imap mail server and replace our old cyrus server ! BUT : I would like to do a conversion of my imap accounts (and keep all theirs characteristics) from cyrus-imapd-2.2.12 in cyrus format to dovecot 1.1.3 in courrier format. I've tried those 3 tools : cyrus2courrier.1.5.ts cyrus2courier-1.3z4 imapsync (works well but very slow and should not

cyrus2courier or cyrus2maildir.py, which to choose?
What's the best utility to use to convert mail folders from a cyrus 2.2.13-10, on a debian 4.0 Etch system, to folders that can be used by dovecot? The http://wiki.dovecot.org/Migration/Cyrus page isn't too clear on what's the difference. cyrus2courier says "It should be able to preserve message UIDs, flags and 26 first keywords." cyrus2maildir.py says "preserves

imapsync
Hi All, I'm trying out the imapsync migration tool, migrating user mails from cyrus IMAP to Dovecot IMAP. In order to avoid knowing about each of the users password, I use the cyrus admin user in the cyrus end. Is there such a thing as the dovecot admin user, or is that simply the root user? Any input appreciated /Lars

Pros and cons of having folders under INBOX vs. not
I have some questions about whether I should set up folders under INBOX vs. having them outside the INBOX namespace. I'm setting up a new Dovecot 2.2.0 on an Ubuntu 12.04.2 server. My plan is to move my users (family members) to this new server from an old Cyrus server. Everybody is currently using (and will continue to use) IMAP, and either Thunderbird or SquirrelMail as their e-mail

Dsync issues between Cyrus and Dovecot
Hello, I have some issues related with dsync when trying to perform two way synchronization between Cyrus and Dovecot. 1st time synchronization always works and email, folders, flags can be synced between these but once for example in dovecot side the user creates a folder, dsync fails with the following errors: Debug: brain M: Other brain should change mailbox INBOX/dove GUID

How to skip errors on doveadm backup for migration ?
Hi there, I have to migrate data out of a very old (debian 4) and buggy cyrus mailserver. About 40 Users with 200000 Messages each. Doveadm backup works quite well and gives me most of the mails. About every 100.000 Mail cannot be exported by cyrus. I do not want to bother about these errors. Maybe it is filesystem, maybe it is memory leak, or cyrus bug or whatever. My problem is that doveadm
