cyrus2courrier mass migration
Hello,
So we've chosen to use dovecot as our imap mail server and replace our
old cyrus server ! BUT :
I would like to do a conversion of my imap accounts (and keep all theirs
characteristics) from cyrus-imapd-2.2.12 in cyrus format to dovecot
1.1.3 in courrier format.
I've tried those 3 tools :
cyrus2courrier.1.5.ts
cyrus2courier-1.3z4
imapsync (works well but very slow and should not

Cyrus vs Dovecot
First of all : forgive me for my poor English
Hello all,
I've to compare cyrus with dovecot for my work. Because these are the
only solutions that could fit our needs.
Unfortunately I really don't know a lot about dovecot and I would like
to have some of its assets.
Here are the properties of the versus table I've done :

benchmark dovecot
Hello,
We would like to do a feed back to this active mailing list. We are
working on a migration project from cyrus to dovecot. And we have just
completed the benchmark sequence.
As I say, this benchmark is here only to show that our old imap server
is out to date. I would not be the source of controversy at all, so I
try to explain my approach.
Because the only thing I found was this old

How to list IP used by domU
Hello,
I''m trying to script a tool that return all the @ip for all the domU I have.
Is it possible to have those informations from within the dom0 ? (maybe
by connecting to the domU from the dom0 ?)
Thank you

Store sent email
Hello all,
I've set up a webmail solution based on RedHat EL 5, sendmail,
spamassassin, clamAV and dovecot by following this tutorial:
http://www.redhat.com/magazine/025nov06/features/email/index.html
I have configured everything without any problem, I can send and receive
emails, using Maildir store format.
Now, what I don't know how to set up: I would like to store the emails

Benchmark: Appending 250k messages
I just changed Dovecot v1.1 code to work much more nicely when appending
new messages to large mailboxes.
Dovecot hg (cydir format, fsync_disable=yes):
./imaptest secs=1
./imaptest - append=100,0 logout=0 msgs=10000000 clients=1 seed=1 secs=300

Getting at the LPC coefficients
Bonjour,
D?apr?s votre question ? Jean_Marc :
? Je m'int?resse ? la source 1.0.5, et je ne vois pas une _spx_lpc (). Il ya
une _spx_autocorr (), qui est en lpc.c et est appel? ? proximit? du d?part
de la
Codeur fonction dans nb_celp.c.
L'encodeur semble appeler la autocorr () la fonction, puis appelle wld ()
pour faire
quelque chose qui s'appelle Levinson-Durbin.

read only FS access
Hello,
I would like to know if it's possible to subscribe to a folder that is
on a read only File System ?
We have a snapshot mechanism that create a .snapshot directly in the
user folder. This is done by our NAS and we would like to give an access
to this backup to our users.
Thanks.

Heartbeat OCF ressource agent
Hello,
I've tried to write an OCF ressource agent in order to manage by the
heartbeat way a dovecot server. It seems to work fine.
This kind of script could be found in the directory on a CentOS release
5.2 :
/usr/lib/ocf/resource.d/
If the attachement isn't working, I've cut and paste the script here :

managesieve proxy cyrus
Hello all,
I've configured a dovecot server in proxy mode. It seems to work well
but. I've tested managesieve with squirrelmail and it's working
correctly but I can't connect to cyrus sieve server : timsieved
Does anybody here have configure a sieve proxy to do this ?
Or is it a normal behavior and dovecot sieve proxy can't speak with
cyrus sieve ?
Thanks.

Zimbra benchmarking
Now that I have a working kvm setup, I thought I'd finally try how
Zimbra works. This is mainly some microbenchmarking, so it may not have
much to do with actual performance in real life.
Setup:
- 1GB memory given to kvm (from host's 2GB)
- Intel Core 2 6600 (kvm uses only one CPU)
- CentOS 5
- 15GB qcow2 image on XFS filesystem
- Zimbra 5.0 RC2 RHEL5 x86_64
- Dovecot latest hg,

dbox benchmarks
http://hg.dovecot.org/dovecot-dbox-redesign/
Looks like multi-dbox scales pretty nicely. Even after 100k messages the
peak saved msgs/sec is the same as the initial saved msgs/sec, even if
the average slows down somewhat.
I tested this by first deleting mailbox, then running "imaptest" for a
second to get saving to start writing several fields to
dovecot.index.cache file. Then ran

uiddir mailbox format with benchmarks
I cleaned up the lib-storage code a bit so that it's easier to write
support for new mailbox formats. It could still use a bit of cleaning
up.
Anyway, I thought I'd try how easy it would be to implement Cyrus-like
mail store which would consist of only Dovecot's index files and
"<uid>." message files. Flags and everything else is kept only in
Dovecot's index files

dbmail benchmarking
I thought I'd try benchmarking with dbmail (v2.2.4) to see how much
slower a SQL backend could actually be. Skip to bottom for the
conclusions.
Originally I ran the tests with the databases being in XFS
filesystem. MySQL's performance was horrible. It went 3-7x faster
with ext3.
MySQL 5.0.30 backend (innodb):
./imaptest clients=1 - append=100 seed=1 secs=30 msgs=1000000 logout=0

Benchmarks with imaptest
Hey guys,
Has anybody ever used imaptest to benchmark *ONLY* reads? I'm trying to run
a battery of tests in my new cluster and apparently no combination of
parameters works, because fetch instruction doesn't run. Below is the
command I'm using and its partial output

Getting at the LPC coefficients
Hi Jean-Marc
I'm looking at the 1.0.5 source, and I'm not seeing an _spx_lpc(). There's
an _spx_autocorr(), which is in lpc.c and is called near the start of the
encoder function in nb_celp.c.
The encoder seems to call the autocorr() function, then calls wld() to do
something called Levinson-Durbin. Am I right in thinking that after the
call to wld(), the st->lpc[] array

Benchmarking auth
Hello,
I'm attempting to use imaptest to test auths/sec on my imap server, to
simulate the number I'm getting now on a new server. Based on my
readings of dovecot stats outputs, my current machine is doing somewhere
between 11.6 and 196 logins/sec at its busiest, and I want to make sure
the new server can handle that amount.
With imaptest I attempt to simulate this by just simulating

Benchmarking CVS HEAD vs. v1.0
Some new features in CVS HEAD are:
- v1.0 saves most of the data to dovecot.index.cache only when the
client is FETCHing the messages. With mboxes the message headers are
saved while parsing the mbox, which is almost the same thing.
With CVS HEAD the dovecot.index.cache file is updated already when the
new messages are being saved (with deliver or IMAP APPEND). This avoids
reading the message
