Unkillable imap process?
Hi, Not sure if this is relevant but having been running dovecot 1.1.4 for a long time (without any problem) I recently upgraded to 1.1.7 when I switched to SuSE 11.1 This is just running on my home server and it's a fairly standard fetchmail-procmail-dovecot setup. However I recently had an incident which I cannot quite explain. I suspect it could be a possible disk problem but I did

ls -l hang, process unkillable
hello, one of my colleague has a problem with an application. the sysadmins, responsible for that server told him that it was the applications fault, but i think they are wrong, and so does he. from time to time, the app gets unkillable and when trying to list the contents of some dir which is being read/written by the app, "ls" can list the contents, but "ls -l" gets stuck

NFS and Firewall
Hi Folks, I'm using VMWare on a Linux Host (CentOS) with a Linux-Guest Sidux). And I'd like to use NFS. Furthermore I'd like to use the Firewall in CentOS with this little GUI. If I activate this firewall then my Guest says "no route to host" on mounting nfs. Firewall disabled -> no problem occurs. Is there a solution to use firewall _and_ nfs ? Please, no iptables

Dovecot imap processes pinning CPU
In recent days, dovecot's "imap" processes keep getting stuck. Each time I check my server (running dovecot 1.1.7) there's a bunch of "imap" processes (sometimes 2 of them, sometimes 4, sometimes 6) that are using all of the box's CPU. And worse, there's no way to kill the processes either (neither kill -15 or kill -9 works), which means that I wind up

wpa_supplicant and machine freezes
Hi Folks, I'd like to install my USB-WLAN-Stick Netgear WG111v3. Ndiswrapper works correct after installing Kernel-Modules from atrpm ndiswrapper-kmdl-2.6.18-53.1.19.el5.centos.plus-1.52-16.el5.i686.rpm. But by calling wpa_supplicant with wpa_supplicant -i wlan0 -D wext -c /etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf -d machine freezes. My wpa_supplicant.conf:

Hi I think llvm-dev list (CC'ed) have more visibility in this. [cfe-dev] More verbose -mspeculative-load-hardening
Another thing to consider about your feature idea is that the output may be noisy depending on what you were hoping for. SLH tries to mitigate anything that could potentially be a problem and thus it instruments almost every branch, load, and function entry, for example. There isn't a lot of signal about what is really a gadget among the code instrumented by SLH. It really tries to be

unkillable wine.bin processes
I'm using an html filter (ala junkbusters) called Proxomitron (proxomitron.cjb.com) through wine. I find that this program works great, except that it leaves a trail of unkillable wine.bin jobs whenever it retrieves a web page. Going to a page like slashdot results in ~8 wine.bin jobs that will never die, and can't be killed. (I am using wine from CVS as of 3/12/02 or so) Thinking

embedded fs access?, was Re: Booting ISOs
Hello, my name is Douglas McClendon. I just joined this list. The question that prompted me to join, is actually quite timely, as it related to the Booting ISOs thread, which unfortunately, I can't just continue. I think the answer the "Booting ISOs" question got, regarding the knoppix cheatcode, was relevant, but not quite optimal. Unless I am misunderstanding, using the

icedove update
Something came up that Confounded problems in my move from UW-imap to dovecot. I found a problem with the new icedove update in Debian lenny when moving from 1.5.0.13+1.5.0.14b.dfsg1-0etch1 to 2.0.0.9-3 that could look like a dovecot issue. Icedove runs for a while but eventually quits updating the displayed email, yet appears to be working and busy trying to get messages from the server. I

Process hanging on 6.0-STABLE
Hi, I work for a small company that makes radar systems for research organisations and we use FreeBSD on the PCs for data acquisition and processing. We have recently shifted to FreeBSD6/amd64 and one machine in particular is exhibiting a strange problem. The acquisition process is a Tcl interpreter with a largish chunk of C code which talks to the hardware (via RS485 and a custom PCI card).

2.2.2 runaway SMBD process
Hello, I am running Samba 2.2.2 with acl-0.7.16 on RedHat 6.2 (2.2.19). The PDC is a Windows 2000 Server and the Samba server is a domain member using Winbind. All the workstations are Windoze 2000 Pro with SP2. Everything seemingly works fine but every day or two I get a runaway SMBD process which hogs the CPU and becomes unkillable. The only resolution is to reboot the server completely.

Icedove (Thunderbird) crashes when reading IMAP messages
This is a Debian lenny/sid installation. Dovecot has been installed on it for over a year, with no problems. Lately (i.e. the past few months), if I attempt to read a message, Icedove crashes. It does not do this when I read a message downloaded from the ISP's POP3 server (not that I do this very often - almost all my mail goes through Dovecot). I am now having to read email with

ExitThread won't.
Okay, so with complete lack of any other ideas, I tried to figure out what was wrong with my app (Proxomitron), which is leaving unkillable processes around. So I went into ExitThread, and added something like: DPRINTF("%08lx:Exiting thread...(%d)\n", GetCurrentThreadId(),getpid()); exit(code); right at the top of the function. And, lo and behold, the processId matches the

[PATCH] drm/nouveau: handle same-fb page flips
It's questionable use case, but weston/wayland already relies on this behaviour, and other drivers don't care about it, so it's a matter of compatibility. Without it, process invoking such page flip hangs in unkillable state, trying to reserve the same buffer twice. starting exes with wine
I'm running Sidux distro and Wine 1.0-RC2. When I right clicked on an exe file it showed me an option to launch the file using wine. That feature is now gone and even double-clicking does not work but instead sidux/KDE offers me to choose a program for opening the file. Now I want to re-enable the context menu feature or at least let wine open exes by double-clicking. Thanks
