How to set up R for Macbook Pro Intel Core Duo
I just recently purchased a Macbook Pro, Intel Core Duo 2GHz, 512 MB RAM. After looking through several articles in this forum I found the link to the R Mac Wiki. I am not that tech-savy but it appeared to me that this link, http://wiki.urbanek.info/index.cgi?IntelMacR describes how to install R on a Intel Mac Core Duo to utilise the two cores. I have also downloaded and installed the

MacBook Pro Yonah (Intel Core Duo)
Dear all; Has anyone tried the new CPU (codename Yonah) produced by Apple? I heard from the engineer of Apple that MacBook Pro is already reachable, although it is not distributed to the public until February. If anyone has some information, I would like to buy it to enlarge the frontier. -- Does Yonah demand xen/i86 or xen/ppc? Or we need brand-new source code? That is the problem. Is

.pkg won't fully install on my MacBook
I'm having problems downloading any .pkg file on my MacBook. All the .dmg files up to 2.10.1 will download and install fine but nothing newer than that. I'm attaching the the log file from my installer as and here are some other things about my system. At the end of the log the installer continues to run not doing anything and comes up with progress messages. I've let it run

audio issues with latest speex on windows cygwin, macbook
Hello again, I managed to get Speex to compile on cygwin on windows xp running (not emulated) on a black macbook (2GHz Intel Core Duo), but I am now having audio issues. The audio for a 32khz .wav (not live input, static file) encoded and decoded with Speex is mangled in a way that sounds like audio feedback or just noise. Perhaps someone else has had this experience? Maybe a type size

OT: iBook or MacBook Pro?
Well, the worm has turned and I think I may actually get an Apple ;P. But I can''t decide which one. Pros and cons: 14" iBook: + modem (for when broadband kicks out, or on the road and there''s no WIFI) + screen is probably big enough (though I currently have a 15" Dell) + doesn''t get as hot as the MacBook + almost half the cost + less likely to get stolen -

Installation on a Macbook Pro with nVidia MCP89 SATA controller
Did anybody succeed in installing CentOS on a MacBook Pro with nVidia chipset (2010 edition, http://www.heise.de/mac-and-i/produkte/macbook-13-2-4-ghz-mitte-2010-86/#produkt_detail)? When I boot with the current minimal install disk, Linux does simply see non disks. Regards, Peter -- Peter Hopfgartner R3 GIS http://www.r3-gis.com

[Very OT] Steve Jobs, is he sick?
For us "Railers" on Mac systems we all probably watched Steve Job''s keynote at the WWDC yesterday. Was it just me, or did Steve look "sick"? I mean he has lost a lot of weight and his skin was very drawn. -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

CentOS 7 on Macbook Pro : keyboard mapping problem
Hi, Some time ago I installed CentOS 7 on an older MacBook Pro for a client, since she couldn't install a more recent version of Mac OS X on it. The installation was a bit of an adventure, and I wrote a little article about it: https://blog.microlinux.fr/centos-7-macbook-pro/ I made this installation about a year ago, and the only thing I changed since then is replacing Xfce by GNOME. How to properly bridge the network to CentOS under Parallels on a Macbook Pro?
Hi all, I have recently acquired a Macbook Pro (sweet machine!) from my employer, and one of the tasks the machine has to do is to run a distributed software development platform (called Splice) under Linux. For this task, I have chosen the trusty CentOS 4.4, and I have it set up in Parallels. So far, so good. Now then, the network does work within CentOS, but I want to assign it a fixed

Installing Xen on Macbook Pro (11.2): 'can't find IRQ for PCI INT A' messages.
Hi, Recently i bought a macbook pro retina, and since i''ve been happily running Xen on my server machine for quite a few years now, i decided to install it to the macbook as well so that i can use it to try out new features before implementing them on the server. Before trying xen, i''ve gone through the motion of installing Ubuntu 13.10, which is now running smoothly.

CentOS 5 Beta on a MacBook Pro
FYI, I just installed CentOS 5 beta with the SMP kernel in a VMWare fusion virtual machine on my 2.33 GHz 15 inch MacBook Pro. The installation was flawless. I installed from an NFS share on my network with the ISO images. The vm booted disc one and recognized my 802.11n wireless connection as eth0. The install took about 30 minutes. Everything worked fine... -Joe
