The debian dom0 64 bits kernel crashes at boot time
Hi, I just wanted to give a bit of feedback here. i have tried the Xen amd64 kernel from the kernel team and it just crashes with a stack dump on my laptop (thinkpad t500, that is a quite new stuff but will be a common thing very soon I beleive). Then I have tried the kernel 2.6.27 from the Xen repository that you can find here: http://xenbits.xensource.com/ext/linux-2.6.27-xen.hg It's

Debian Lenny dom0 package on a Thinkpad t500
Hi, I''ve been trying to build dom0 and xen hypervisor package for my thinkpad laptop, but it''s not an easy task. Has anybody done that? Note that I''m not interested in running anything but Debian packages, I think it''s a too ugly setup otherwise, and I don''t want c**p on my laptop. RFS: xen-qemu-dm (new package)
Hi, I believe the package is ready: http://ftparchive.gplhost.com/debian/pool/lenny/main/x/xen-qemu-dm-3.4/xen-qemu-dm-3.4_3.4.2-1.dsc I asked Ian Jackson to sponsor it (he works for Citrix and is a DD), but it's been 2 weeks, and he seems busy with work. I'd be glad if someone was sponsoring the upload of this package in Debian SID, soon enough so that people will be able to test it

HVM support to be removed from Debian Squeeze: call for volunteers
[message cross posted to the pkg-xen and xen-devel list] Dear everyone, Bastian Blank - which is the person (among others, but mainly him) that is packaging Xen in Debian -, has decided last summer that he doesn't want to deal with the qemu-dm of Xen, thus removing Xen Qemu and support for HVM in Debian. Abnormal memory usage of dom0 under Squeeze leading to crash
Hi, We normally run Lenny dom0 with 384 MB of RAM in our production server. But as we did few trials with Squeeze, I had the very bad finding that a Squeeze dom0 requires at least 1024 MB of RAM. As soon as I do something like "xm mem-set Domain-0 800", my server crashes: OOM starts killing processes, starting with sshd, then mdadm and so on, then the server reboots by itself. This

Improving xen-qemu-dm-4.0 dependencies
Hi, When I first built my Debian package, I needed to depend on qemu-system | qemu, since there was no other ways to pull needed BIOS files. It seems the situation changed, and that I could depend on less stuff from the qemu package. Maybe only the package named "etherboot" and "vgabios". To do that, my plan is to simply package a folder named: /usr/share/xen/qemu with in

Bug#562703: qemu-dm missing from xen-utils-3.4
I tried using http://ftparchive.gplhost.com/debian/pool/lenny/main/x/xen-qemu-dm-3.4/xen-qemu-dm-3.4_3.4.2-1_amd64.deb But my hvm instance wouldn't start. Monkey Island 2: Special Edition from Steam
I'm running Ubuntu 10.04 64bit on a Thinkpad T500, I believe I'm using the integrated Intel GMA 4500MHD graphics that come with it. I'm using the default WINE install, I think version 1.1.42. I'm trying to run Monkey Island 2: Special Edition downloaded from Steam. It actually sort of works. It installed just fine. When I first ran it gave me a blank screen and that was it.

Woohoo! Windows Server 2008 RC2 on Xen 4.0
Surely you hear plenty about what''s not working, so I thought I''d shoot a quick message on something that did work. I got Windows Server 2008 RC2 installed. I have yet to even activate it and prove all internal features/devices work, but installation alone satisfied me! I had to fight a couple issues and I''ll mention them here, i think they''d be pretty

xen,debian lenny and hvm(winxp)
Hi, i want to install a WinXP as vm, but it won''t work. "xm list" tells me that the winxp-vm is running, but I am not able to connect via vnc. nmap tells me that there is no vnc-port listening and ps -A tells me that qemu-dm does not work. Maybe someone could help me because i have no idea what''s wrong.. System: Debian Lenny XEN: from lenny-repository ps -A says:
