I''m trying to collect media references (URLs) to articles, podcasts, and videos about Ruby and Ruby on Rails, like this month''s Linux Journal ( http://www.linuxjournal.com/issue/147) or the recent DDJ article ( http://www.ddj.com/dept/architect/187203512). Touch screen interface?
> Curious if anyone has worked on or knows about a touch-screen application with Rails. I am ramping up work on an accounting application and the suggestion was made for a touch-screen POS interface. I haven''t done any research on this myself yet, but are there any ideas, thoughts, or experiences from the group? > > Thanks, > Nathan > nleach (at) toplineconsulting.com

[URGENT] Need help getting rails app back up desperately
I''m desperate. A few hours ago I was checking my server because we are running a survey for a new client and everything looked good for that app but I noticed another Rails app was quite large (twice as normal) so I decided it was time for a restart. Big mistake. Upon restart the application gave me a 500 error. Checking the logs I found a stack level too deep error that after hours I

Family Connection 0.9
Family Connection is an easy-to-setup online hub for your family that includes a Family News section, and an Address Book. Currently, there is no documentation on installing the Rails application itself (hence the 0.9 version number). Once installed, Family Connection guides the family website administrator through a simple two-page setup process. The web application restricts access

ZDNet reviews Samba 2.2
eWeek reviewed Samba 2.2 at : http://www.zdnet.com/eweek/stories/general/0,11011,2712294,00.html - they seem to like it ! It's certainly encouraging to get trade coverage like this, I'm hoping the more people who report Samba use in their organisation to press outlets will encourage them to cover more Open Source/Free Software products ! Cheers, Jeremy Allison, Samba Team. --

OT: Please comment on Dvorak's troll
http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,1759,1812887,00.asp Specifically, his assertion that ISP's would sniff traffic and block, say, the SIP port. You could play wack-a-mole with port numbers, no? Also a community based, Freenet style of encryption implementation for "free" VoIP traffic would address this issue. I raise this to the list because I'm sure there's a grain of

Showcase On Rails CMS v0.1
I built out a simple CMS for websites that rely heavily on portfolios. This covers graphic and web designers in particular, but also other people with stuff to show off. It''s really easy to customize progressively, so that some people will only modify CSS, but others will dig deeper into Javascript behaviors and the Rails view code. Check it out at http://showcase.kylemaxwell.com/ SVN

Problem rsyncing 450GB file to my NAS: 'connection unexpectedly closed'
Hi list! I'm trying to use rsync to do a regular remote backup of a 450GB sized container file located on my squeeze server onto a colocated QNap NAS device. Both use rsync 3.0.7. While this setup works for most files, it fails on this large file (see log below). I'm already trying to help rsync using "-P" to indicate that rsync should reuse the current copy and not trying

New Cisco "Color" Phone
I thought you guys would be interested to know: eWeek has a short article about Cisco bringing out a new IP phone: 7970G. It has a high resolution color touch-screen display with support for XML and can act as a mini-browser to allow the development of vertical applications. But get this: the price will be $995. I don't think I'll be getting one any time soon.
