Transferring data from S+ to R
I would like to know if there is an easy way to transfer all the data from
a S+ directory (".Data" or "_data") to an R image? I would like to transfer
all the functions and all the data sets (data frames, vectors, lists, etc.).
I'm working under Windows NT and am using S+ 3.3 for Windows.

R-beta: image S vs. R compatibility
Hello!
First of all I would like to thank very much Guido Masarotto for the latest
Win32 version of R. I've installed it painlessly on WinNT 4 Workstation,
and it is loading and running fast. The only problems I've had thus far are
demos 6 to 8 ("recursion", "scoping", and "is.things"), which cause a
memory protection fault.
I've a question regarding the

I'm puzzled by the readRegistry function.
Shouldn't the "hive" argument be something like

New package: OpenStreetMap 0.2
OpenStreetMap is a new package that accesses raster open street maps from Mapnik, and satellite imagery from Bing.
Some features:
1. Uses multiple map tiles stitched together to create high quality images.
2. No files are created or stored on the hard drive.
3. Tiles are cached, so downloads occur only when necessary.
4. ggplot 0.9.0 integration

Re: Importing Excel .xls into R
One can import data from Excel ODBC source, but of course it is user's
responsibility to ensure that the data are consistent. Each worksheet in the
Excel workbook can be accessed as a table (for example, for Sheet1, you should
type "select * from [Sheet1$]". The worksheet should have first row containing
the column names, and the data rows should follow (the

Réf. : image legend
I would also be very much interested in having the image.legend function in R.
The Splus image.legend uses the subplot function, which doesn't seem to be
available in R, so one can't copy the Splus function to R (otherwise it would
probably have been done already).
I greatly appreciate the flexibility of the Splus image.legend function since it
allow you to put the legend where

Satellite ocean color palette?
Dear List,
Is there a color palette avaliable similar to what is used in satellite ocean color imagery? I.e. a gradient with blue on one end and red on the other, with yellow in the middle? I have tried topo.colors(n) but that comes out more yellow on the end. I am looking for something similar to what is found on the CoastWatch web page:

Editing R graphics (fwd)
Thanks to the many people who adviced me on this topic.
xfig works very well, at least for what I have to do now.
I'd like to answer the message by Paul Marrell as well as
encourage others to do so:

Impute Values for Forest Inventory
Dear All,
I am Ricky Jacob, a project Student from India who is working on
Forest Inventories.
Input data:
Plot(area = .1 ha) data having the following information:
1) Basal Area
2)Tree Density
3)Volume
So I am applying this information to the corresponding pixels in the
satellite imagery of the study area. I also have given the same
values to a 3x3 window around that pixel.

R-beta: R on NT
I'm having trouble with R on NT.
Sept 1 97 version 50 in file rsept works fine, except I can't boost
the memory - either with the menu or with DOS command Rsept -v50
In fact, if I run in DOS command mode (no shortcut) I get NT error
window: errno 1411. But then R runs.
With rseptbeta and rsept31 versions, R starts for a millisecond and then
disappears. I've tried replacing the

STL- TimeSeries Decomposition
Dear R Helpers,
Currently I'm working with the ts package of R and created a TimeSerie
from pixels extracted from satellite imagery(S10 NDVI data, 10 daily
composites). I'm trying to decompose this signal in different signals
(seasonal and trend).
When testing out the STL method is says => Only univariate timeseries
are allowed, but the current Timeserie I'm using is univariate!

R-beta: Guido's Port
I am having problems accessing sirio.stat.unipd.it/pub/R so can't get to
his latest port (Win95, v62.3, Guido's port.) I am being denied access.
This
may be a local problem with our network here, but is anyone else having a
problem? Is that site mirrored anywhere that I might be able to access?
Thanks!

R-0.62.4 for MSWindows
Following the release of R-0.62.4, I have update my Win32's port.
New features:
- The console can be configured (font, colours, dimensions).
No fancy dialog (yet), but look to the rw0624/etc/Rconsole file.
- help.start() now is implemented. Of course, you need the html
documentation.
Bugs fixed (I hope):
- Alt+Gr problems on some European keyboards.
- Focus is 'always'
