Job Description: Digital Agriculture is an exciting and challenging suite of activities related to farming that includes Precision Agriculture, Prescription Agriculture, and depends on the collection, use, analysis, and interpretation of data from multiple sources with the goal of optimizing productivity, profitability, and sustainability of farming operations. We are seeking bright and enthusiastic experts to put together a creative team that will build and deliver Limagrain?s Digital Agriculture solution, mixing agronomic expertise, advanced data science algorithms, cloud and mobile computing to provide innovative solutions to farmers . Responsibilities: You will be focused on the application of mathematical and statistical techniques to answer real-world farming questions through the development of models, algorithms and software that will enable delivery of detailed and robust locally-adapted prescriptions taking into account historical soil, weather and agronomic records as well as current observations and forecasts that will help farmers to better manage risks and take more informed decisions. - Statistical analysis and interpretation of large agronomic geo-referenced datasets coming from a multiplicity of sources (internal and external), including sensors, airborne imaging, soil and weather data. - Use theory, simulation, and experimental data collected from extensive field testing to lead the development of new or adaptation of existing methods and algorithms for building predictive high-resolution spatial models. - Implementation of these algorithms into ready-to-use, well-documented software routines in accordance with overall system architecture. - Keep informed of scientific developments in the field of statistical analysis of spatial data in agricultural, environmental and other fields (participation to scientific conferences, bibliographical follow-up) and evaluate their interest for our Digital Agriculture activities. - The successful candidate will be expected to coordinate and collaborate closely with research, development, marketing and IT teams across the seed business organization worldwide as well as with external partners. Required qualifications & skills - A PhD or Master Degree in statistics, applied mathematics or a related quantitative field with five to ten years? experience in applying and interpreting statistical analysis of large geo-spatial datasets. - High-level knowledge of statistical/mathematical software (R/S+, SAS, Matlab, or similar) and proven experience of applying it in solving problems. - Experience with Fortran, C/C++ or other similar compiled programming language is a plus. - The position requires the ability to take research projects from conception to completion, including: algorithm development; conducting statistical analyses, interpretation of research results and communication of conclusions to non-specialists; delivering efficient and reliable data analysis software tools. - Recognized for you demonstrated analytical and organizational skills, your ability to work in a team and your attention to detail, you managed projects from conception to implementation. - Given the international scope of the activity fluent English is mandatory.
