GEOM_RAID3: Device datos is broken, too few valid components
Hello list, Last night one disk of my desktop machine dead causing a hard lock of the computer. It was a component of a mirror volume so it wasn't as serious as it initially looked. Unfortunately, the metadata structure of my data partition (a geom raid3 array with tree components ) seems to be corrupted by this hard lock, the following message is scrolled constantly on the screen:

repeatable crash on RELENG7
While trying to speed up nanobsd builds, I mounted /usr/obj on a ramdisk and found my box crashing. Thinking it might be hardware, I tried a separate machine, but with the same results. I have 4G of ram (i386). Am I just running out of some kernel memory ? If so, is there anything I can adjust to prevent this, yet still use mfs in this way ? mdconfig -a -t malloc -s 1800M newfs /dev/md0

g_vfs_done with offset greater than disk size
I've been trying to get a problem fixed with a Highpoint 1820a crashing out with errors like: kernel: IAL: COMPLETION ERROR, adapter 0, channel 2, flags=104 kernel: ATA regs: error 10, sector count 20, LBA low ff, LBA mid ff, LBA high ff, device 4f, status 51 which results in the disk being dropped from the array. A sharp eyed engineer at Highpoint has just spotted the fact that the read

Panic while scrubbing
Hello, I am not sure if I am posting in the correct forum, but it seems somewhat zfs related, so I thought I''d share it. While the machine was idle, I started a scrub. Around the time the scrubbing was supposed to be finished, the machine panicked. This might be related to the ''metadata corruption'' that happened earlier to me. Here is the log, any ideas? Oct 24

[SO]HO Software RAID5 server: which implementation should I choice?
Hello, freebsd-stable. Does somebody use some software RAID5 on FreeBSD in real production system? I want to build storage server for my home: RAW photos, multi-layer PhotoShop files and FLAC-encoded music consume a lot of space, and they should be availible both from desktop & notebook. Also, all photo-content is unique, so I need some insuranse from single HDD crash. I understand,

I then updated to 6.4-STABLE and enabled all the kernel debugging stuff. I've uploaded "screenshots" (including backtrace) here: http://pics.pofo.de/gallery/v/misc/ I'm now not sure if the external

Problem with 16-in-1 card reader
My new PC has an internal 16-in-1 card reader connected via USB 2.0. The device is the Techsolo TCR-1640 (http://www.techsolo.de/product/cardreader/tcr_1640/index.php). I boot from a compact flash inserted in it and I can mount and unmount the same CF once the system has booted and has mounted the root partition from my graid3 array. The problem arise when I replace the inserted CF with another

ddd issue with 6.4-PRERELEASE #2 and udf/cd9660
When ever I try try to mount any burned CD/DVD media I get the error below. mount_cd9660 -v /dev/cd0 /mnt using starting sector 0 mount_cd9660: /dev/cd0: Input/output error Exit 1 Which in dmesg results in... g_vfs_done():cd0[READ(offset=-2207623839744, length=2048)]error = 5 This is odd because if I unplug the USB CD drive and plug it into my netbook running a old RELENG 7.0-STABLE it works.

Suspend/resume on IBM X31
Greetings I am having trouble with suspend/resume on my Thinkpad X31, running 7.0-STABLE as of April 23. Any help would be appreciated. First problem: When I run "acpiconf -s3" from mulituser mode, the system suspends immediately, without executing /etc/rc.suspend (which has mode 755); then on resume, I get a panic. Failing WD desktop drive in mirror, how to identify?
I have a desktop system with 2 ZFS mirrors. One drive in one mirror is starting to produce read errors and slowing things down dramatically. I detached it and the system is running fine. I can''t tell which drive it is though! The error message and format command let me know which pair the bad drive is in, but I don''t know how to get any more info than that like the serial number

fitting a hyperbola to data points
Hi, I am new to R, and I suspect I am missing something simple. I have a data set that performance data that correlates request rate to response times http://pastebin.com/Xhg0RaUp There is some jitter in the data, but mostly it looks like a hockey puck curve. It does not get converted into a straight line when I tried log conversions, so it does not seem to be a
