zfs root eta?
Hi, I was just wondering if ZFS root is likely to be an install
option any time soon, either in SXCR or the June Solaris update?
The mechanism at Tabriz''s blog seem to work well, but it''d be nice
to get it out of the box.

ZFS core contributor nominations
The time has come to review the current Contributor and Core contributor
grants for ZFS. Since all of the ZFS core contributors grants are set
to expire on 02-24-2009 we need to renew the members that are still
contributing at core contributor levels. We should also add some new
members to both Contributor and Core contributor levels.
First the current list of Core contributors:

ZFS root install
I have posted a blog http://solaristhings.blogspot.com/ on how I have configured a zfs root partition on my laptop. It is a slightly modified version of Tabriz''s blog http://blogs.sun.com/roller/page/tabriz?entry=are_you_ready_to_rumble
The main differences, is that I only require a very small ufs partition for grub, and I detail how to use a zfs clone as a test root partition.

Trying to understand volblocksize ?
Hi,
I am trying to understand the use of volblocksize in emulated volumes.
If I create a volume in pool and I want a database engine to read and write, say
16K blocks.
Should I then set volblocksize to 16K ?

Patrik

large smb.conf file
I have about 5000 distinct shares defined in my smb.conf file. As you can imagine it's quite large.
Everyone once in awhile all the smbd daemons ( in top ) go to a run state and pretty much bring the system to a halt. The system is WAY oversized. 99.999% of the day samba runs fine. We _THINK_ we've narrowed down the times when the smbd processes go crazy to a time when we're

New one on me: How to UN-transfer
I'm using a Snom 320 in a CAP position and the receptionist wants to do
blind transfers. OK, no problem so far. Now she has asked me how to
UN-transfer a call, as in, she transfers a call and wants to hook the call
back before it connects (she wanted to tell the caller additional
information for example)
I don't think that this is possible as once my dialplan starts using Dial()

Solaris 9 Samba 3.0.24
I'm currently running samba 3.0.20a
I can configure and make 3.0.20a with no problem
I run the same configure command on the 3.0.24 source, configure works
fine, but make returns the following.
( and just to test if a patch screwed me up I tested configuring and
making the 3.0.20a version again, and it worked as it should )
Any bugs with 3.0.24???
Using FLAGS = -O -D_SAMBA_BUILD_

Permission Issue
Hi again,
regarding my post "plenty of vacuuuming process" a "gluster volume heal"
seems to improve the situation.
But I still have a strange problem:
Sometimes a user don't have permissions to? a restricted folder when h
connects to a share or logs in at a windows client. In some times all
permissions are granted. If the user creates a file, the user and group

libsmb/nmblib.c:receive_packet(1018)
Received the following messages ( scrolling ) in the log.smbd:
users could not access the samba server. had to stop the samba daemons.
ran a ps -ef | grep smb
found many smbd processes running. had to pkill the process, and then re-start samba to make the shares
available. Running 3.012
Can't find anything anywhere.
Any help would be appreciated.

[LNT] How to set an env var before executing a test?
So you're referring to llvm_test_prepare? There aren't many examples of that being used. I tried adding a call to it in my test directory's CMakeLists.txt like so:
llvm_test_prepare(WORKDIR ${CMAKE_CURRENT_BINARY_DIR}
export MY_VAR=42
)
In the hopes that something would happen, even an error, but it had no effect. Nothing at http://llvm.org/docs/lnt/tests.html explains how to

CTDB node stucks in " ctdb-eventd[13184]: 50.samba: samba not listening on TCP port 445"
Hi Martin,

no,
root at ctdb-<HOST>:~# ps auxwww | grep smbd
root 13192 0.0 0.0 12780 940 pts/0 S+ 13:05 0:00 grep smbd
There is no smbd, nmbd is running.
Ahh, but the log says:

S4 and connection slot [Sec=Unclassified]
Hi all,
I am having a problem trying to declare a slot representation to hold a file connection.
With V2.8.0 I had been using:
setClass("Element",
representation(
[other slots removed],
datafileConn = setOldClass(c("file","connection"))
)
)
This resulted in a warning but still ran okay.
No however with V2.9.0 I am getting

plenty of vacuuuming processes
Hi,
I have a ctdb cluster with 3 nodes and 3 glusterfs (version 6) nodes up
and running.
I observe plenty of these situations:
A connected Windows-10 client doesn't react anymore. I use forder
redirections.?
- Smbstatus shows up some (auth in progress) processes.
- In the logs of a ctdb node I get:

V2.9.0 changes [Sec=Unclassified]
Hi all,
Prefix: I am a frustrated Java coder in R.
I am coding a medium sized ecosystem modelling program in R. I have changed to using S4 objects and it has cost me an order of magnitude in execution speed over the functional model. I cannot afford this penalty and have found that it is the result of all the passing-by-value of objects.
I see that you can now safely inherit from

fw as filter broken?
Can someone verify that using fw as a filter in iproute2-2.6.11-050330 is
broken. Doesn''t seem to work in any case and I saw an earlier post that
would lead me to believe this is the case. If so does anyone have a
temporary fix?
Thanks,

[LNT] How to set an env var before executing a test?
Does the LNT test-suite provide a way to have an environment variable set when executing a test? I can set it outside of LNT (i.e. have it in my environment when LNT is launched) and that works fine, but there does not appear to be a way to set it as part of a test's configuration. There are some lit.local.cfg files scattered throughout the test-suite repository, but messing with os.environ

RHN-like system for CentOS?
Team,
Is anyone aware of a Red Hat Network alike system of server package
update status that could be adapted for CentOS3? I'm not interested in
the complete management aspect (channels, scheduling remote updates,
etc) but merely the ability to see your list of systems and determine
which are out of date with XXX packages. If you happen to manage a
large-ish number of RHES3 systems, you
